SERVER BLADE with 96 GB of RAM

I have a server balde with 2 processors and 96 GB of physical RAM installed.

Having the license for "VMware vSphere 5 Standard for 1 processor (with 32 GB vRAM) right by processor"

According to my understanding vSphere 5, there is no limitation on phyiscal RAM and processor.

limitation to a virtual machine is the maximum that we can assign 32GB vRAM.

Please confirm if this is correct.

Read the white paper of the licenses at http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf

The license is per-SOCKET on the blade, but not on CARROTS by socket which is now unlimited.  Since you have 2 jacks, you will need a minimum of 2 licenses.  With your evidence of 32 GB per socket, you can be powered with a total of 64 GB memory configured, regardless of the amount of memory they use in fact virtual machines.

You can either purchase a 3rd license then you can connect virtual machines with a total of 96 GB of memory configured, or you can update your licenses to the company that will give you a total allocation of 128 GB.  Note that this is the CONFIGURED memory, not the USED memory, so it is very likely that you will need licenses that go beyond the 96 GB.

Also note that the memory is pooled - if you have several other servers also running vSphere 5 Standard, then he the the sum of all virtual machines running on all hosts in the operating mode that count.

  • Reference Dell R310 Server Blade not start CD ROM [FRESH WINDOWS SETUP]

    Hello

I have a Server Blade Dell R310. I created the virtual disk on a Raid Configuration, also I updated the BIOS boot.

I PERC S100 when I checked on my configuration tab.

The scenario is that I want to install a new / new copy of Windows 2008 R2 on this server, I have the dvd bootable. but when I put it on the drive it says "No Bootable Media found" something like that.

Y at - it all the configurations that I missed? hoping to get answers from here.

    Kind regards!

OK, let's back up a bit:

Use the management tools of systems and Documentation (GDPS) instead of SBUU.  If you use SBUU with 2008R2, you should use the Driver Pack too... MUCH easier to use the GDPS, which has everything you need in there:

FTP (you will need to copy/paste - forums do not like the FTP links):

    FTP://FTP.Dell.com/secure/FOLDER01538030M/1/OM_SMTD_730_A00.ISO

Yes, you start on GDPS, follow the instructions, and then insert the 2008R2 media when prompted.

  • IP address of server blades management

    Hello

Could someone please help me know which path is followed to reach the ip addresses of the server blade chassis management? To be more precise, to say that I have the management interfaces of interconnections connected to the switch network management of my fabric. When I ping addresses it ip of the blades, that ping through the management interface of the FIs management? Can I assign different subnet IP subnet Management Server as the FI management interfaces?

Also, could someone share a document illustrating this architecture?

    Thank you

    Quesnel

    Hi Quesnel

Let's be very clear: IP address management blade = IP address of the MMIC, you can for example. access by the KVM.

    There are 2 modes:

    - out of band which is accessible on port 1 G of the interconnection of fabric management

    - in the band which is accessible via a fabric interconnect 10 G uplink interface

    See the discussion in

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/discussion/12185011/management-blades-OU...

    Management in-band MMIC

A determinant to provide access management in-band for integrated management Cisco (CIMC) controller is the desire to separate traffic treated tenant provider cloud for service provider deployments shared, public or private. Out of band (OOB) management traffic is at the fabric of interconnections and cross management via the management port. This has the potential to cause bottlenecks and affect the bandwidth of the processor in the management ports.

In-band management allows MMIC traffic to take the same path as the data traffic into and out of the fabric of interconnections via the uplink ports. The highest bandwidth available to the uplink ports means that inband access greatly accelerates the management traffic and reduced risk of bottlenecks and the stress of CPU. When out of band (OOB) and inband address pools can be configured for access to the administration in Cisco's UCS Manager. Out-of-band access only supports IPv4 addresses. Access inband supports IPv4 addresses and IPv6, which allows a management single or double stack.

The two addresses of OOB management interface that can be configured in Cisco UCS Manager blade and rack servers are:

    • An OOB IPv4 address assigned to the physical server via the pool global ext-mgmt
    • An address IPv4 OOB derived from a service associated with the physical server profile

In addition, up to four inband management interface addresses can be configured:

    • A tape attributed to the physical server IPv4 address
    • An IPv4 address of inband derived from a service associated with the physical server profile
    • An IPv6 address band attributed to the physical server
    • An IPv6 address of inband derived from a service associated with the physical server profile

Several in-band for each server management IP addresses take additional sessions of CIMC. When you configure the OOB, and strip addresses, users can choose from a list of these addresses in the KVM Console dialog box when they launch KVM from a server, SSH to the ground, a service profile, the KVM Launch Manager or Cisco UCS Manager GUI web URL.

MMIC inband access supports the following services:

    • KVM console

    • SSH to MMIC for soil

    • vMedia of ISO, virtual CD/DVD, removable disk, floppy drive

    Note

Only Cisco UCS M3 and M4 servers support access in-band MMIC. Access Inband MMIC for Cisco UCS M1 and M2 servers is not supported.

  • Server Blade ASYNC / threshold of passage / hardware verification

    Hey people,

strange things occur yesterday evening. I bypassed about 120 messages "threshold crossed: CAW: etherTxStats...» "and"IO Module Warning.

I looked in the events of UCSM. Each server blade in our UCS started a WSF. What is a routine of UCS? We do not know what is happening. All the 32 ESXi 5.5 blade server. It has not changed anything.

Events of WSF see attached file. I have filtered all the events of 'jumps '. To me, it seems that MMIC began the new inventory for all servers? Do you know something about this or have the same events? Is there a scheduled task internal UCS?

UCS version 2.2 (3f) (all systems = same beam of firmware; UCSM, FIs, blades...)

    Thank you very much

It would be interesting to have a look at the audit logs around that time and DME (data base management Enginer) to see what is really happening... You better open a case of TAC and then post the result here for future users faced with the same question it will require a deep investigation of the newspapers before we a tell you what/why he happeed.

  • Calendar Server responds with 403 Forbidden' operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

With the latest version of Mac server (5.1.5 on OS X 10.11.6), when I try to migrate a large calendar via a client computer, it takes a long time and then I get an endless series of

The server responds with an error.

    The server responded:

    "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden.

[Go offline]  [Back to the server.

errors.  I have to leave something heavy press enter for a few hours to get rid of all the errors.

Migration of the small calendars to the server (by importing data in iCal on the calendar of the hosted account) works for most (it may be a mistake or 2).

I found a suggestion of years ago on another Board that permissions can be screwed to the top and use this Terminal command:

    sudo chown-r _calendar:_calendar/Library/CalendarServer/Documents

However, this suggestion was for the 10.6 Server and may no longer apply.

    Any thoughts?

Today, I had the idea of trying to download the calendar from the same computer that is serving the calendars.  Should be faster and better (and the same OS!)!

So, an account on it hosting Mac and started the import process, which seemed to go more smoothly, but then seemed the same thing happening: most of the CPU has been get taken up with various activities related to the calendar and then after a while, it started spitting out errors, but they were slightly different.  There are too many mistakes all move just above.  Also, try to add more events to this calendar also fails.

    Now, they say:

The event "[name of event]" was rejected by '[Server]' because the maximum number of resources has been reached.

Is there a limit to the size if a calendar?

I do something wrong or is this a limit of the software?

Yes, your MacBook accepts two RAM sticks of 4 GB, 8 GB total, you'd better update the firmware Version MB51.007D.B03.

  • Power supply for my P7-1410 with 16 GB of RAM

    Hello

I installed my new GEFORCE GTX650 video card in my HP Pavilion P7 1410 with 16 GB of RAM.  Is it my PC to handle the EVGA-SuperNOVA NEX750B 750W power supply?  Is this too much for this model?

    Thank you

    Hello

You may need to use a shoehorn so he can adapt.  The physical dimensions of a standard power SUPPLY HP block is 5,9 "x5.5"x3.4. The Corsair CX600 or CX500 would be better physical shape.  Some of the older PC HP lights with blocks of power more than 650 watts.

I have a model end of 2013 13 MacBook Pro with 4 GB or RAM retina and think to upgrade to El Capitan. Is this enough RAM

Of course you can upgrade to El Capitan. But I think better if you can change the internal hard drive (SATA drive) in the SSD drive. You will get better results, faster than still, you only have 4 GB. This is mine... MacBook pro in early 2011.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 - works does not with 2 sticks of RAM

    Hi all

I've been with sticks of 2 x 512 MB RAM from a reliable supplier that reassures me that this RAM is compatible with the SP2100 laptop.

With the two sticks installed, as soon as the machine is running, I get no display and 5 beeps (1 long, a follow-up of 4 short beeps). Each stick of RAM work well individually, and I also tested slot A and b. Thus, the 2 sticks of RAM are working alone and work the two slots. It seems that this machine has a problem with 2 sticks of RAM.

The ACPI BIOS is up to date (v1.40). I also tried the old 256 MB stick with one of the new sticks of 512 MB - same problem. I tried this as the supplier of memory mentioned this Toshiba may take only 1 GB maximum.

Any ideas why two sticks of RAM does not work?

    Thanks in advance and amicably.

    James

    Hello

You are right. The laptop must be able to manage memory 1024Mo. (2 x 512 MB)
Due to your description, I think that both modules are compatible, but cannot play together.
In my opinion, you should use two modules with the same specifications

    Try to use the modules recommended by Toshiba;
    PC2100 256 MB (PA3127U - 1 M 25)
    PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51)

I saw written in Intel website that my i3-2310 can cope with 16 GB ddr3 1333 mhz RAM, but on the Toshiba site, they say that the max ram is 8 GB, so my question is:

Is it possible that my laptop can e improved (installed) 8 GB 16 GB?

Upgrade of RAM depends on mainboard support and no CPU support.
Your laptop can handle with 8 GB of RAM only, and you can't improve it with 16 GB.

  • Satellite L30 - BSOD with 2 GB of RAM

    Hi all

I have some problems, I can not explain on my * PSL33E L30 *. I bought 2 GB of RAM to put in it, but it makes Windows crashes (BSOD). I already tested memories, they all work alone. Of course they have all the right tip.
Is there something to change in the BIOS or something?

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

If you get a BSOD with 2 GB of RAM, it seems that the modules are not compatible to your laptop in dual channel mode.

I m not a technician but I mean that's the only possible reason because you wrote that they all work opportunity so they are not defective.

I put t know which modules you bought, but you should test the other modules. I have good experiences with the Kingston memory modules.

I already tried, but Windows XP Pro not more start telling me that the BIOS (1.40) is not ACPI compliant. (with blue screen)
but with 1 GB of RAM (1 Bank), it runs without quarrels...
    Or is the BIOS-based issue.

I read in some forums that he is supposed to take up to 2048 MB (2 GB) of RAM...

    I use a Kingston ValueRAM (2x1GB)

    Hello

According to Toshiba, you can use a maximum of 1 GB of RAM.
But I know that sometimes a laptop no longer accepts that. Maybe it's the associated BIOS.
