Block POWER & Presario SR2020NX upgrade graphics card

Hello world!

My sister in law has a Compaq SR2020NX with one, (I think), 250 watts power supply.  She would spend the onboard graphics chip 6150LE to a dedicated card.  I am sure that she will need a new power supply for it but am not sure that the form factor.

Can someone tell me if its system will accept a standard ATX PSU?  Or otherwise, that I am limited to?  Require a 24-pin (or 20 + 4) connector on the main Board?

The PSUS that I'm interested in right now are the Antec earthwatts EA430

or the Antec earthwatts EA380

In addition, given that I'm here, can I also ask on the graphics card?  I think something like this model EVGA,

One last thing, does anyone know if the chip 6150LE will accept the standard Nvidia driver?  If not, is there another source for updates of driver for this chip?

Any help will be certainly appreciated!

Thank you

Larry

Any ATX should work.  The 24-pin is designed to adapt the pins 20 connections... the extra pins hang on the side.  I would recommened make the connector 20 + 4 pin... so if you don't need the extra pins you can just stand out them.

  • H8-1020 HP: HP H8-1020 - upgrading graphic card / power

    Hey,.

Looking to give my almost 5 year old very PC need graphics push. As mentioned in the title, I have a HP h8-1020. After reading the other messages from users on this forum, it seems that the power supply provided with this model (300W) is totally insufficient for any new, decent graphics card.

    I also use a 27 inch Samsung S27D360.

I read that some people used the corsair CX500/600 with Nvidia GT X series (2 GB) as an upgrade card appropriate. However I don't know a lot about the power supplies or performance graphics cards.  I don't have an absolute top of the map online, just one that can run most modern graphic intensive games. I hope for a price range of about $100 for food and not more than $200 for the graphics card.

Here are some of the games I'd like to run upstairs - max (preferably in 1920 x 1080) settings:

    Diablo 3

    Skyrim

    Grand Theft Auto V

    The Elder Scrolls: online

Any help with suggestions for a new power supply/graph card would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • can I upgrade graphics card on pavilion dm 4?

can I upgrade graphics card on pavilion dm 4?

    Laptops are unlike desktop computers.

Desktop PC have an open architecture that make the relatively simple upgrade.

PC laptop and portable access to the e/s available and put at level of the slots through the doors of the inspection and often almost total disassembly.

Laptops are also limited by the BIOS and the physical attributes systemboard on the video modules and wireless can be used for upgrades.

A BIOS of the laptop has a white list of the modules that are acceptable. If a module wireless or video is not on the whitelist, then it cannot be used. If a notebook THAT BIOS found during the POST (power on self test) as a module not on the white list has been installed it will warn you and it won't start the laptop computer in the operating system installed.

If money is no object you can update the video through an exotic external graphics solution like Vidock Gfx.

I have a Pavillion P6360SC with a graphics ATI Radeon HD 5450 and that you need to upgrade to a better (or similar?) ATI.

I play the last Star Wars Old Republic MMORPG (but have difficulties with my ATI 5450).

Is it possible to use e.g. ATI Radeon HD 6950 into my HP Pavilion?

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    Processor: Intel Core i3 530 2.93 GHz
    Motherboard: MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E)
    RAM: 4 GB
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5450

    Best regards

    Jimmy Svensson

    Hi Jimmy,.

Most, if not all of the mid range and more AMD Radeon video cards provide at least a 400 Watt power supply. Recommended graphics cards are close higher and higher mid-range video cards.

If you don't want to power level video card here's something to consider.

An older but great video card is NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB DDR5. This card does not support DirectX 11 which is eventually used in some of the latest PC games but it's a great performer.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

  • P7-1490 upgrade graphics card and power supply

I just got a GEFORCE GTX 650TI stimulate the graphics card.  The 300 watt Power Supply on my P7-1490 can't handle it because I need a 6-pin power connector.  The 1490 comes with a 300 Watt power supply.  I need something at least 450 watts.  What upgrade adapts to my box.  Also, the Jasmine motherboard can handle the new graphics card.  It fits into the PCI Express slot.

Please look at the Corsair CX500, CX600, CX500M, or CX600M power supplies for your needs. Yes, the card of mother Jasmine in your p7-1490 should be able to manage the GTX 650 it. In addition, you need to enable 'Secure Boot' and possibly 'Legacy Support' in the BIOS before installing the GTX 650 it.

  • HP M9340f and Power Supply Upgrade graphics card

    HP dear community,

I read some of the forums on the upgrade of the 9500gs it's an old graphics used for the HP M9340f. It's been 4 years now and the computer still works very well. I need advice for the upgrade on the graphics card.

    My specs are: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01465973

I know that there a 350W power supply. I am worried because the 9500gs video card has a connector that is powered from the motherboard, it has 2 pins (black and white wire). I read about the update for the ATI HD 5670 Nvidia 440 or 450. I know it is very old, but the 9500gs is still able to run modern games.

The recommendations would work due to the connector 2 pin?

Upgrading power supply help, because I think the video card is to select the power supply to the motherboard and not directly from the power supply.  I'm still confused on what the black and white wire, it is connected to the video card.

I don't mind getting a greater electric power because I can get a better card. Just concerned with the black and white wire.

I also read here that this person was able to exchange his power supply and graphics card for a gtx 560 ti and a 550W power supply. Its model is newer than mine. http://www.tested.com/forums/PC-and-Mac/8692-seeking-upgrading-graphic-cardnew-computer-advise/?&p=1

    I am really limited?

    Thank you

    Abe

    Swarl3s,

    We will divide your questions.

    (1) black/white is audio Spdif. Asus Nvidia supports a S-video port, audio is provided by the additional wiring.

Now that the concern you had as answered (the whitw/black wiring), Let's proceed to the card.

    (2) what are your expectations of game? WOW, Diablo 3. Each has a recommended graphics card and each graphics card recommended the power of the power supply. Always add a tolerance.

Regarding the GTX560Ti and a combination of 550W PSU, I see no problem. Then again, see here for more information and suggestions.

  • Upgrade graphics card (for Compaq Presario SR1921il [product number: RC566AA])

as my system is old enough for the new technology, I have doubts about the graphics card, it can support...

Make my system of support of these base maps,

    AMD/ATI HD 5450 512 MB DDR2 graphics card,

Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card and superior? because my is a type of memory RAM DDR2, DDR3 should I use only DDR2 graphics card, or otherwise can be?

I really want to know the maximum range of the graphics card, it can support...

    Thanks in advance...

Your desktop PC are for some time.  (over 6 years)

You should consider upgrading your PC to a more modern unit instead of investing the money in an old. A new video card will not help the old CPU or memory. It will be still slow compared to today's computers.

Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card will work fine, but be aware that you must also be upgraded to a 400 Watt or greater POWER supply.  If you do not upgrade the power supply then the video card will not work. Your PC was shipped with a power supply with a capacity of 300 Watts or less. Which doesn't leave you much of a choice if you want to follow your desired upgrade path.

  • HP pavilion HPE-H8-1212: power upgrade graphics card is it useful?

  • Upgrade graphics card and power supply

I will apologize for my lack of knowledge, but what are the procedures to follow regarding changing the settings (i.e.BIOS) before unplugging my computer to install the new units; or on startup AFTER installation of the new equipment? I have a long history of building electronic for example, amps, Preamps etc... but another that understand the end mechanical (installation of equipment), I beg near complete ignorance about the computer upgrade. For general information, I install a ZOTAC GeForce GTS250 graphics card and an Antec Earthwatts 650 power supply (the apparent overkill is in a hurry to other possible mods). I will also add extra cooling for all electronic components, it is the killer #1.

Thank you very much, David... The graphics card is simply an upgrade of a Nvidia GeForce 8500GT card, so I hope no problem!

  • Compaq-Presario CQ5110F: the graphics card upgrade

In order to upgrade to Windows 10, I have to upgrade my video screen, so I purchased and installed a 2 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 in PCI Ex16 slot on the motherboard, but my system of refuses to recognize it, even if I changed the main video screen in the BIOS PCI Ex16. What I'm doing wrong here? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you

    Hello:

The Nvidia 730 series cards do not work on an old PC.

The BIOS will not accept it.

If you want a nVidia card which is close to the 730, you go with GT 630.

Also, there is a workaround to use the integrated graphics card and upgrading to W10.

See the discussion below.  You launch the DVD you made from the windows desktop and ignore the checking of updates.
