My cat went through my laptop and now my mouse does not work. I was the mouse that plugs into my laptop and it works, but not the pad... Help!

Hello

Most modern laptops provide a keyboard shortcut to lock the keyboard when you type.

The following keyboard shortcuts have been known to disable the touchpad on different systems. Press and hold down the Fn key and then press F3, F4, F6, F7, F9, or F12 to toggle the Touchpad.

  • Turn off the monitor and input block

    Hello

I am trying to create simple VI that will turn off the monitor (or screen saver turns on) and entrance to block mouse and keyboard - user so won't be able to see the screen and do any action. I use system32.dll for this.

My problem is that when my VI turn off the monitor, user can enable it back by simply moving the mouse or using the keyboard, similarly as these devices are blocked (by the function BlockInput of System32.dll).

How can I do the ultimate freeze?

Attached VI is based on Danny_Funk 'disable the monitor.vi.

    Dear bieneck,

This is a very interesting problem you have there. I was snooping around Microsoft technical support for a bit, and the only reasonably simple method, I found was running powercfg.exe from an elevated line comand. You can query wake programmable devices with powercfg - devicequery wake_programmable poster theand disable using "Your device name" powercfg - devicedisablewake. Here you can find a more detailed documentation.

Except that I have found no reliable method that will spare you excessive digging in the registry. Maybe some 3 rd party tool?

One more thing: If your goal is to prevent the user from interacting with anything, it would be easier to make up a large modal window that does not workaround? At least, it seems to me that it is much simpler to use a native Windows function that is not provided for this purpose.

  • One of the 3 links on a web page works not under Firefox 9.0.1 but all three work under IE.

Please float your mouse over the Paypal button (in the lower left) and on the envelope button and the arrow will change to a pointing finger. It float above the adjacent Blog button and the arrow is an arrow. With Internet Explorer, all three buttons links work - but not with Firefox 9.0.1. Why is this?

I have no idea why this works in Internet Explorer. The div with id "txt_582" is painted on top of the imagemap for the button "Blog". So this div block mouse clicks. Reduction of the height of this div may fix the problem.

  • The Muse Adobe Menu buttons

    Hello

My menu buttons have recently stopped working.  When I'm on the home page, I can't navigate my other 3 pages using the menu buttons. When I fly over the other names of menu, there is nothing to click.

It's a recently issue I'm having as they used to work.

    Thank you

It seems that something has been created or moved to be above them. Even the transparent surface of an object allows you to block mouse events to your menu, if the object is on top in the "stacking" order (put forward, to put in the background, the layers panel).

  • The buttons in the menu do no work on a single page of the site tablet. Everything else works.

I recently updated my sites for desktop and Tablet with a slide show. Now when someone selects that specific page in the view of the Tablet all top-level menu buttons do not work. If I go to another page in the view of the tablet on the menu buttons work. Could there be a problem with the slide show?

Here is a link to the tablet version of this page that does not work... www.omnifysoft.com/ouc/tablet/speakers.html try to select one of the menu buttons. Here is a link to another page in the view of the Tablet and the menu at the top of work www.omnifysoft.com/ouc/tablet/agenda.html links

Note, the link at the bottom of the page also works is specific to the menu on the referenced page.

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Stacking of elements of the issues on the web. The top item in a stack receives all mouse events (whether filled or completely transparent). In this case, it seems to be a text frame large on the top menu where carriage returns are be used to position the speakers 'CONFÉRENCE' and «We have an exciting...» "on the page. This block of text blocks mouse events to reach the menu.

I recommend using a block of text a lot more small "SPEAKERS" and a second block of text because "We have an exciting..." "If blocks of text are smaller their bounding rectangles will not interfere with your menu or other elements/links on the page.

  • Only left colum links work in the table (Firefox)

    Firefox question

My model for the site is down with areas of LAYERS. There are 2 areas editable, also put inside the layers. When I use this model to create a page, I create a table inside one of the editable regions. The links in the left column work very well. The links in the column to the right do not work.

A sample of what I mean can be found here:

    http://sparkwatch.movpix.ca/calendar.htm

In FIrefox, works the link from January 2007. The February 2007 link does not work.

    In IE7, everything works fine.

Can you help me understand why?

    Thank you

    Mike

One or more of a ridiculous 20 + layers with different indices of Z block
mouse access to most of your table.

Start with the nested tables or CSS style DIVS.

  • How to stop AddThis menu mouse drop-down or block AddThis?

Apparently, someone created something which if called AddThis which can be put into any Web page design. Apparently, this is to help the part of the reader the big Web page they found (or something?). Really, it just seems to be a way for a web designer attract more page hits.

I find the default setting that causes a large enough (say 5 times bigger than the icon on the Web page itself) menu to drop down whenever a cursor passes over being incredibly annoying! If you move your mouse to move the cursor to the bottom of the page to reach a link or start to select text and move the AddThis icon, the menu down which covers a large area which is often the exact area that you are trying to click on. How anyone could think someone'd want this rules is beyond me.

I hope there's a way in FF to stop this kind of rules. I would like to find a setting or an add-on that would block altogether (an AdBlock for AddThis).

    Any ideas?

== websites from developers adding AddThis to their pages.

It is actually a part of the site.
I don't know what can be done to block. If you right-click on it and select Adblock Plus: block image, does it work?

  • There is a program running in the background on my computer. It blocks my mouse and I can even hear a clatter, as when you connect a camera to your computer, or disconnect.

I tried several times to get a solution to this problem.  There is a program running in the background on my computer.  It blocks my mouse and I can even hear a clatter, as when you connect a camera to your computer, or disconnect.  My computer has been analyzed by microsoft help and support was in my computer several times, and accomplished yet nothing worked.  Sometimes my mouse freezes every few seconds until it is maddening.

    original title: hopeless

It seems that you have tried a number of bugs so far without success. Here are some suggestions of what I'm going to try:

You mentioned a background current program, if it helps:

Perform a clean boot to determine if background programs interfere with your game or program
     http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/331796

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
     http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Don't forget to follow step 7: reset the computer to start as usual in the link above to return the computer to normal startup.

I would also check the updates for your video card driver. Find the latest Windows Vista drivers for your specific computer model with the support site for your computer manufacturer. Be sure to get the right drivers for your specific version of Windows Vista, for example, 32-bit or 64-bit.

If your mouse is a USB model, it can be useful to check the latest drivers for your motherboard (chipset) Vista to the support site for the manufacturer of the computer. Also, since you're here you can check for the other updated drivers for your system, i.e., audio, LAN (network), etc.

    Computer manufacturers
     http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/help/contact-support/computer-manufacturers

If you have the graphics card Intel integrated, you can check on the website below:

Update utility graphics card Driver Intel
     http://www.Intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics

If you have a dedicated graphics card, you will need to check with the card manufacturer, the two most often used are linked below:

    NVIDIA driver downloads
     http://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

AMD (ATI) drivers & Software graphics card
     http://support.AMD.com/us/GPUDOWNLOAD/pages/index.aspx

If you have not done so, see the support site of the manufacturer of the mouse for the Vista updated drivers, known issues with your specific models or known solutions.

An element that may cause unpredictable problems that are extremely difficult to identify are (live RAM) memory errors, Windows Vista has a built-in for system RAM check utility:

How will I know if my computer has a memory problem?

How to use the Windows Vista memory diagnostic tool
     http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/using-Vista-Windows-Memory-Diagnostics-tool/

To perform a more complete test is the use of Memtest86 but is more complex, includes the creation of a CD bootable for the test, it is not really something for difficult burn an .iso file downloaded to a blank disc (available in the free download link) and then boot from the CD.

    Memtest86

I hope that something of the above can help lead you to a solution.

Startup Repair has worked 9 hours from WAU to go home 7-7 pro running. System is not blocked because I have control of the mouse and HD shows activity. What is the problem?

I would be out of system repair and safe boot mode:

Start your PC, just before the system loads the Windows operating system; Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Advanced Boot Options. Select Safe Mode.

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Restart your system

  • Blocker does not work after the click of the mouse

Lately (since Feb) almost all the Web sites I visit issues this popup asking me to participate in a survey of my use and offers a "gift" for taking part. This happens usually after that I click on a link to a secondary page of the site. I tried to take the survey, in the hope that the popups will leave then. No SOAP! They always activate each time. A site that I use will generate the popup multiple times I'm going through various links on the site. Of course I block the game in the CONTENT section of the TOOLS menu.

You have installed probably accidentally a somewhat malicious add-on. Which is created this particular window.

I had this problem before in the past.

to remove it. You must find the add-on which is their creation and remove it.
