Blocked PC in windows recovery mode

PC starts with black screen wait for only the projection of the arrow.  Tried system restore, but it says it is already running.  HD and RAM controls show that all is well with HW.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

You can start in safe mode with networking (by clicking repeatedly press F8 during boot)?  It so and it does not work, there are other options we can try.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

  • Envy TouchSmart d030xt 20: HP Recovery Manager blocked after upgrade Windows 10

Yesterday, after the upgrade my computer to Windows Recovery Manager 10 is now blocked. It wasn't like this until I upgraded. I have a feeling that the operating system may have changed my security settings. (For example, when I try to change something in my pictures folder, UAC pops up) Anyone know how can I get Win10 to unlock Recovery Manager?

OK, I found a solution. This is the certificate.

What you need to do is:

    1. open 'C:\Program Files (x 86) \Hewlett-Packard\Recovery Manager' in the file Explorer.

    2. right click on Rebecca.exe (recovery program) and click "copy."

    3. paste it on your desktop.

    4 unzip this download http://www.fluxbytes.com/software-releases/fileunsigner-v1-0/

    5. drag your copied version of Rebecca.exe on FileUnsigner.exe

    6. right click on Rebecca.exe on the desktop and click "copy."

    7. paste in 'C:\Program Files (x 86) \Hewlett-Packard\Recovery Manager' and say yes to replace the existing file.

    8. search "HP Recovery Manager", click on it and a prompt will come, click 'Yes' and it should open.

You can repeat this for other programs that are blocked. Basically, it removes the obsolete certificate which prevents opening in Windows 10.

  • Starting Windows or in Recovery Mode by default.

I have about 100 pro Windows 7 machines, in a data center.  They are all configured to restart and launch their applications 'accommodation', should they suffer a power failure (or just generally need a restart).

They are all accessible remotely via Team Viewer or VNC.

Normally when a failure occurs, the machine will restart automatically, and you are presented with two options...

    1. start Windows recovery tools (repair)

    2 start Windows normally

Until today, the option by DEFAULT always "start Windows normally" you wait a few seconds and finally windows restarts, and 99.99999% of the time everything is good.

Today after that failure critical ups all 100 machines has decided to "Start Windows Recovery Tools (repair)" as the default option and I had 100 machines, I had to manually connect a keyboard, restart, and then select the option start Windows normally.  Whereas there is a 5 minute break, it ends up being a cut of 5 hours.  (OK a KVM will in the next week, but it still means a lot of extra work).

I guess there was an update recently, which screwed using Windows 7 pro, for hosting services.   Indications as to why this was changed and what to do about flipping?

    Hello there, murat119.

Looks like you're wanting to reformat the hard drive on your MacBook. The following Knowledge Base article offers up different options available for you:

How to reinstall OS X on your Mac

Wipe your drive and install OS X

Generally, you don't need to erase your startup disk to reinstall OS X. The OS X Installer is designed to allow you to perform an installation in place during the same version or earlier versions of Mac OS X. If you transfer your Mac to a new owner, you can clear your integrated boot disk before you reinstall OS X.

Important: Before you remove and reinstall, back up your important files. If you are using a MacBook, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, make sure that the power adapter is connected and plugged all by performing the following steps.

You can use these measures to erase files on your startup drive and install a fresh copy of OS X:

    1. Before you begin, make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet.
    2. Restart your Mac. Immediately hold down the command (⌘) keys and R after having heard the startup sound to boot into OS X Recovery.
    3. When the recovery window, select disk utility, then click on continue.
    4. Select the volume name back from your startup disk in the left side of the disk utility window, then click Delete.
    5. If you want to erase the disc safely, click Security Options. Select an erasing method, and then click OK.
    6. On the Format menu, choose Mac OS extended (journaled). Type a name for your drive, and then click clear.
    7. After that the drive is deleted, close the disk utility window.
    8. If you are not connected to the Internet, select a network in the Wi-Fi menu.
    9. Select the option to reinstall OS X.
    10. Click on continue and follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall OS X.

    Additional options

If you want to reinstall the version of Mac OS X included with your Mac, or if you have to reformat your entire startup disk, press Command + Option + R to start instead. This starts your Mac recovery of the Internet.

If you have more than one partition (like Boot Camp) and you want to delete the complete startup disk, you can use disk utility to remove the partitions or re-partition your hard drive. Start up your Mac in recovering from Internet, then use utility to repartition your boot disk drive until delete you it. Make sure that you back up important data from all partitions before repartitioning of a disc.

Thank you for being a part of the communities of Apple Support.

    See you soon.

  • I'm a fool - recovery mode. Tried the sansa.fmt folder, but does not work... Help, please!

My buddy gave me his sansa used for a Christmas gift.  I loved.  They when I delete his old songs that I deleted the other folders on it as well (pictures, records, etc.)  basically everything except the music files.  Now, when I turn it on, it says "cannot load the main image.  switch to recovery mode.  I browsed the forums and tried to make the sansa.fmt folder (it formatted) but still does not work.  I can't find the stuff I deleted from the Recycle Bin.

Thank you in advance and happy holidays.

It's Christmas time.  Santa has something cool in his bag, I'm sure.  We will first check the device to version 1.

When he started upward, you saw just the SanDisk logo with sunburst on the splash screen?  I just want to be sure that your e200 is not a Rhapsody Sansa, because this version has different firmware.  R has a Rhapsody splash screen after the initial one.

You've seen how to connect in Recovery Mode, Yes?  Start with the e200 decommissioned.  Slide the HOLD switch to the right (orange showing) and hold the button depressed all REC by plugging into the USB port.  It is the easiest method of recovery mode.

Alternatively, you can start the Recovery Mode if the REC button is held, and the power-menu button is tapped too. In both cases, welcome to the Recovery Mode is displayed.  Either incidentally, the MSD acronym on the screen refers to the "Mass Storage Device", as in MSC mode.

A few words of caution before going any further.  Recovery mode opens the reserved partitionof the device.  Critical data are stored here.  Do NOT use the Windows format command when this partition is opened, or you will erase these critical data! Only use the sansa.fmt folder trick to tell the e200 himself format automatically.

Download and Unzip the TWO files of firmware for your Sansa e200v1 here.  It is the 01.02.24, the final version.  Just click on the version you want for your region.  The Sansa Updater link isn't what you need.

The two files, after him have unzipped, are pp5022.mi4 and BL_SD... ROM (mental block on the name at the moment).

When you connect the e200 and open a window of Windows Explorer (my computer / computer), you will see a new icon, 16 MB FORMAT.  Double-click this to open reserved partition.  Do not touch the file version.txt in there and don't TRY to use the Windows Format command that appears with a right-click, bad juju.

Let's go Happy window. Drag the first window to a convenient size, and the other with your firmware files can be placed on the desktop.  Now for the magic!  Simply drag and drop these two firmware files on in the open window that represents the reserved partition.  Cool huh?  Easier to make the ratio of rum and eggnog just right.

Now, if there are a bunch of gibberish stored on the device, and you want to start with a clean slate, you can tell the e200 to format the primary partition (where music, videos and photos are) automatically.  Click right while in the 16MB FORMAT box and select new folder.  RENAME it sansa.fmtfolder and the Sansa will follow this command after installing the firmware.

Go to the task bar at the bottom of the screen and click the command remove device or eject the disc.  Again, WIndows like formatting of devices, it of eject you want, do not fit!

Unplug, and restore your e200!  Slide the HOLD switch to the left.

Let me know how it goes, since the Bobster has other tricks in the bag.  This one should do the trick.

    Oh, I forgot.  You're not a fool.

  • royally botched vista, will be only the start in recovery mode is not serious what I seek

right, I have got myself into a right 2 and 8 here. After a long and boring fight with a virus that blocked my internet and evaluate in system32, I finally managed to remove it completely. but, after his retirement, vista started crashing when I went to connect, resulting completely garbled screen. safe mode has started very well, unless I tried to activate the networking, audio or one of my ladies of virus, which caused its lockout and plant too.

I took it to a friend at a repair shop who have kindly pointed out that, although I had removed the virus completely, or I seem to have also deleted a large number of system32 files, including the rundll32.exe all important. It recommended, as I disabled the system restore, I run the vista recovery partition to repair the damage. I did, but in my haste, I think that he overwrite some files, do not know that and now windows of only starts in recovery mode, choose any option. Even safe mode gets in the middle of the commissioning before she also starts the recovery program.

Oh and here's the strange thing, when vista crashed in the newspaper, the screen (in the background) was quite fuzzy and pixelated, but the mouse was not and in fact, was very good. This makes me think that it is perhaps a lack of graphics driver also, driver, or who could not run because of rundll32 or one of the other DLLs where missing.

So, what should I do? I have a lot of important files on the machine and I don't want to lose them. I have my vista disk, could I start out of it and run a repair by it? or if I can reinstall vista only? or I'll lose all my files in the procedure?

You can do a repair on Vista installation - but you must start Windows.

    Here is the link: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html

I have a lot of success with this and usually sugest (like vader95) that you back up your stuff and do a new installation.  We don't know what you're missing, and you're going to be fiddling around with him for always (IMO).

    Good luck!

What would you say if you select an item in the language selector, then select a language?

  • boot into recovery mode

I have a Macbook Pro MD101B/a man. The vehicle currently has el capitan later. I'm trying to prepare it for resale. When I try to open it in recovery mode, it comes up with the connection to the network, I select the right network and password and then nothing happens except the screen displays the network and a logo of the world. Is this correct? I expected to get to the usual window showing disk utility, time machine backup restore, etc., but it does not show that.  Just leave forever with the projection of the network?

Just mystified as to why Im not getting options I was expecting.

    TIA

It's normal. The Mac is from recovery of the Internet.

It will take some time. Wait until the OS X Utilities window appears.

Then reinstall the OS X, the original version that came with the Mac.

  • Cannot restart into recovery mode

Q: unable to reboot in recovery mode

    Hello!

My Mac mini (late 2009), Mac OS x 10.11.6 (El Capitan) is:

    (a) is NOT encrypted with FileVault 2 and

    (b) is NOT protected by a password of the firmware.

    (c) new facility in the Apple Store.

My problem: I can't reboot into recovery mode! I'm out of the country.

Using CMD - R or a normal reboot takes me to a screen with a single user: my orginal admin account and does not show a log in window with all users.

Restart that holding down while the Option key displayed in the Boot Manager only my internal drives defined as Raid mirror.

What else can I do to be able to reboot into recovery mode?

    Thank you!

If it only gives you the possibility of a connection to reboot, sounds of course like FileVault.

However, he should still go to recovery.

If you are on a wireless keyboard, hold cmd - r as soon as you hear the startup tone, not before?

The Boot Manager does not show the recovery partition if you have a CoreStorage configuration (which happens with FileVault). I don't know how RAID affects FileVault or recovery.

  • recover data after the update results in recovery mode

Hello! I feel absolutely terrible and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have an old IPhone 4S that has been put into market and on himself. One of my friends told me to go to IoS9. Terrible mistake because it made my phone goes into recovery mode.

I never did all backups on Icloud and on ITunes. Worse still, I never had ITunes in my life. (I am kind new to smartphones, this IPhone was given just for me)

A friend of a friend has offered to help and I gave her my IPhone for a little more than 10 minutes. He has a Mac and said he could do something (legal or not, I have no idea). But then I realized that there are things really private in my IPhone that I would not want anyone other than me to see. So I asked him to stop whatever he was doing. The phone is still on the recovery mode when I got back, he had the phone for about 10-15 minutes, and I never gave him the passwords. My question is simple: would he able to access my data in any ways if he wanted to?

I went to an Apple store and a saleswoman told me that there was no way he could have access to what in my phone as the phone was completely blocked / blocking. And then I'm going home and read things like Wondershare, on ways to get data without passwords and I completely panick on everything.  You have to be a complete genius this information?

I guess I just need to be reassured. Thanks to you all.

PS: I'm not English, I hope I have made myself understandable!

If the phone goes into recovery mode, restore only on a new version of the iOS will be bring back to life.

The password for the lock screen can't be changed if restore you to a computer that was used to put in place or to sync the phone in the past. Other computers cannot access the data on the phone, he's going to be wiped out during the installation procedure. If you never connected to a computer, the first time that you try to synchronize, the phone will be erased, over, synchronization, it will take the password of the lock screen to display on the phone.

  • iPod Touch 5th generation stuck in recovery mode

I don't see anything on this topic anywhere. However, I "brick" my iPod 5th generation Touch while implementing the update to the 9.2.x the 9.3.1. I held 9.3 as people around me ran into a similar problem with their iPhones, but they were able to recover their phones - just with wiped data.

    My experience:

    1. Received the notice that 9.3.1 was available.
    2. Plug it to my PC and backed up with iTunes.
    3. Downloaded the update via iTunes and begun the process of updating.
    4. Entered my PIN to unlock the device and allow the update.
    5. Update started a few minutes later, I received a notice that it failed and the unit would need to be restored. (Error code was 3014 in my case).
    6. The restoration is only an option "restore and update".

No matter what you do, the device fails to restore ever.

The link they send you is useless: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201210

In my case everything was up to date. I restarted the system – several times. Forced on the device reboots. Put it in recovery mode, etc. (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263)

There is no problem with my hosts (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442) file. I completely disabled my firewall and AV. I had plugged nothing else than the KB and mouse... I even tried from another computer - nothing.

In fact I never get a real 'Restore' option - always started with restoration, but the next screen has been updated and the restoration.

I saw a post were actually downgrade iTunes to an older version (for a first generation iPod Touch) solved the issue but I have not yet tried.
