    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your g6.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03094322.PDF

Chapter 3, page 28 provides the disc of Blue Ray supported with HP part number.

You can query your research for the part by the part number... Try eBay.

The part is no longer available at HP, so you find a place that they may have to sell.

I need a rewritable BD/DVD/CD player replacement for my HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1200z CTO desktop PC. Is there a part # where can I order a replacement?

CTO build page is referring to a x 6 or drive Blu - Ray 8 x, theHPPartSurfer page refers to these:

504941-200 8 x optical drive to read Blu-ray (BD) DVD + RW SATA SuperMulti HD - LightScribe

    DVD 504941-801 - 6 x / 8 X BD-Writer XL nLS BE JB ECO

As noted, the BD-Writer is 504941-801.  Just Web search for this number.

  • Pavilion 550-110: help adding Blu - Ray desktop player

I would like to replace the existing DVD drive (tray ultra slim SuperMulti DVD burner) on a Pavilion 550-110 desktop PC with a Blu - ray player.

The existing unit is mounted vertically in the case. I replaced the DVD drive with a Blu - ray on a HP PC 500-281 player, where it has been mounted horizontally.

If this same blu - ray player could be reused on the new 550-110?

If this isn't the case, please suggest a particular (or brand) type of Blu - ray player-player. I used to look first on Amazon.com for this type of product.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello:

Please see this related thread... looks like the same configuration.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware-and-upgrade-questions/HP-Pavilion-Desktop-550-153na-replace-DVD-writer-drive-with/m-p/5362566/highlight/true#M105730

Now, if the BR drive you have in your 500-281 is a ultra thin (9.5 mm), I imagine that you can use in your new PC.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3259wm: CD / Blu - ray player does not open / working properly

My CD / Blu - ray player does not open. I can force it with a paper clip and put in a disk in this way, but it does not turn on and play the disc. The drive does not appear as a file selection as part of my hard disks in my computer section.

With that I guess my optical drive is broken, so I tried looking for a replacement. I looked up the name of the optical drive in the HP PartSurfer and he says it's called SPS - DRV DVD SATA BD Combo 12.7. Just to make sure, is this the right part I'm looking for? If so and say that I should go ahead and order this part, how do I go about removal of the optical drive in my labtop and its replacement by the new drive?

    Hello

Yes... It is the right part for your laptop.

  • Blu - ray disc will not play with Windows 7 installed on the computer hp laptop pavilion g6

Although the non - Blu Ray discs play fine on my HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 7, discs Blu Ray will not be. How a computer model does this work?

    Hi, John:

    It's the hard drive.

You need to go to Device Manager, and then click to expand the category of DC/DVD player.

If the name of the dvd player does not have a BD in the model, it is just a standard dvd player and cannot play blue ray discs.

  • Not supported format - Blu - Ray will not play on HP Pavilion

    I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC WA794UA #ABA CNF0162R76.

Whenever I try to play a Blu - Ray disc in my Blu - Ray player, I get an "Unsupported Format" Message in HP MediaSmart DVD Player.

    What I am doing wrong?

    Hello

If you use HP MediaSmart DVD (which can be glitch) to read the Blu - ray disc, try the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the installer for it on the link below and save it to your desktop.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53001-53500/sp53029.exe

When the download is complete, open windows panneau Panel configuration, open programs and features, right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - once this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, double-click the installer for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once this done, see if your Blu - ray disc now plays OK.

    Kind regards

  • Pavilion dv7 & new discs Blu - ray plays not

My laptop is a little older than a year.  A few months ago I bought my first Blu - ray (copyright 2009) movie and it plays well with HP MediaSmart.  A few days ago, I bought my second movie Blu - ray (copyright 2011/2012) and it won't play at all.  "Loading disc, ready to play" messages just keep looping back.  Installed a BIOS update, but made no difference on this issue.  There are two-disc Blu - ray and DVD in the box.  All are pristine, clean, no scratches.  Only the DVD plays.  Checked Support HP for driver updates, but could not give a sense of the descriptions.  I bought the film at the Fred Meyer store in Burlington, WA on April 3, 2012.  The Blu - ray 2009 always plays very well.

Should which driver I?  Or am I missing something else?  Thank you.

Use power DVD10 is free for owners of HP.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp54501-55000/sp54746.exe

Save the file on the desktop and install it from there, not in a temporary folder.

After the installation, reboot the laptop and eject the drawer of the DVD/Blu-ray player with the button on the tray itself.

Insert your movie and let DVD10 Power load automatically with the opening DVD10.

What is the name of the movie that will not play?

  • Can Pavilion dv6 (2010, Windows 7) play Blu - Ray discs? If so, how to operate?

    Hello!

    I have a computer laptop dv6 Pavilion 2010 (Windows 7), and I can't play Blu - Ray discs.

In my control panel (Control Panel-> hardware) and sound-> Auto Play, it lists "Blu - Ray Disc movie" as one of the media types, I can choose a value for default, but the only options it gives me are: "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer", "Take no action" and "Ask Me every time."  So, I can not select a program to use to read discs Blu - Ray here.

I tried to put in a Blu - Ray disc and see if it will open with Windows Media Player, iTunes, and HP MediaSmart, but none of these programs recognize there is a disc in the drive.

When I insert the disc, the computer seems to recognize that I put something in, but when I check "Devices with removable storage" in the folder "My Computer", it is said that there is no disc in the drive.

    Then... I have two questions.
    (1) can my computer even Blu - Ray discs play?

    (2) if it is able to do, why my computer doesn't recognize Blu - Ray discs I put in?

I don't really know what I would do to this subject, so if someone saw that they are willing to give, I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you!!

    Hello

  • HP Pavilion m6 Blu Ray support

    Hello

My friend has an old Pavilion Dv7 2012 (I don't know the exact model) and he took part in selling the parts (he upgraded). He plans to give me the blu ray drive and the ram so I can upgrade my laptop. I have a HP Pavilion 1035dx m6 and I was wondering if it would support blu ray and the optical drive from dv7 my friend will fit in my m6.

    Thanks in advance!

    -Reilly

    Here is your Service Manual:

    Repair manual M6

    See page 53.

Your laptop takes an optical drive to 12.7 mm and the DV7 also takes a 12.7 mm drive. You may have to swap face plates and support at the rear of the car, but it will work.
