Blue screen when installing Win XP Pro on the Satellite A100-211

Hi all.

I'm started to get really desperate here! I just bought my new Satellite A100-211 and now I want to install my own copy of Windows XP Professional (as the laptop comes with XP Home). But, when I try to boot from my Win Xp Pro CD (with no SP1 or SP2 integrated), I get a blue screen of the STOP just as the installation application reached the phase "the installation program starts Windows! The STOP message says something about a file named "pci.sys".

I don't know what the problem is or how to install XP Pro! It should be so simple! I even tried the SATA drivers from intel and load the Windows XP Pro install the program installation (F6) with a floppy, but I always get the same blue screen at the same stage of the installation.

Can someone help me please? Can someone explain how to install Win XP Pro on this laptop?

Thank you very much in advance! I'm really really freak out with this
Octavio.

Hello

Did you get this error message?
"stop error 0x7E in Pci.sys".

I found information on the Microsoft site that you need the latest Microsoft service pack.

    Hi all
    I just bought this laptop. It came with vista. I want to install xp pro on it, I mean keep vista as well. So I made the partition and assigned 72 GB for xp pro. Now the problem is that xp pro install cd does not recognize the hard drive. It says no hard drive present.

    It is a SATA drive. So I did some searching on Google on it and found that xp pro doesn't have SATA drivers and this is why you may not see the hard drive. I need to install the SATA drivers with xp pro by pressing F6... and blah blah. Given that this laptop didn't come with the disk, then I found on some forums to include drivers with xp pro cd and make an iso image and try to run it.

    I tried several times but each time it gives me error this cable is broken. Is someone can pls let me know what is the problem? And also if anyone can guide me to get the right drivers for my SATA drive and intel 965 PM chipset... If I go the Intel Web site.

    They are all. EXE files. I want the driver files only, so I can insert them into the xp cd. Thanks for your help and guidance adavance.

    Hi all

    I was able to get the drivers... now, I came across another hurdle... When I put the XP installation cd (which is an ISO bootable disk... This includes the xp sp2 and realtek nic drivers) it gives me message that searching for media... RTL8100E/8101E v1.02... test failed... Check if the cable is connected...

    Any ideas? What should I do now? Any suggestion would be appreciated... Thank you

    Thanks for the comments.
    In fact the XP drivers for the A200 series aren't coming out over this period. I didn t find on the page of Tosh.
    But there is a lot of discussion about the XP drivers and most of them offer a great links to a XP drivers that works on a Satellite A200;

  • Cannot install Windows XP Pro on the Satellite A100-411

    Hello

    IA´ve you have a question. I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-411 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Because of the performance that would have me much better with Windows XP, I tried to install Windows Xp on a second partition, but on the same hard drive.

    The problem is that it did not work, I put the Windows XP cd in my DVD player, did a restart and started from the cd.
    The first window Windows Xp installation opened and checked my system, but when he did and
    wantet to start the main installation, I got a blue screen, where stood her system was closed due to an error and that I should change my video card, or should I turn caching and shadowing in my Bios.

    But my video card really works and is ok and I can't find the caching and shadowing in bios, so I can't install windows xp.

    So my question is is it possible to install Windows XP on the A100-411 when Vista is installed on the other Partition.

    I did something wrong or isn´t is it possible to install Windows Xp after Windows Vista on an A100-411
    Sorry for my bad English and greetings from the Germany

    Hello

    Of course, it should be possible to install Windows XP on the second partition.
    First you must create the partition. Vista provide a clean option for partitions of creation because the 3rd party applications such as Partitions magic doesn't work under Vista. In disk management you can reduce the size of a partition of first and could create a second partition on the HARD disk free space.

    All your Windows XP CD contain service packs? I myself remember more old CD s WinXP don't were not delivered with SP2! In such cases, it s a good idea to create a clean XP Boot CD using 3rd application called nLite. Its freeware and you could find on the net!

    Please check this!

    OK I solved it and here's how.

    I don't know myself what is AHCI mode and compatibility mode is for in the BIOS for SATA HDD settings but changing to AHCI compatibility mode solved the problem of blue screen.

    All those who would like to give some ideas about this? some details that we should keep system in AHCI mode or compatibility (for example the installation of Dual OS?)

  • Driver IRQL not less or equal appears on the blue screen when you start Paintshop Pro X 2

    I've been running Paintshop ProX2 6 months using Vista Home Premium and suddenly, whenever I try to start the program, the dreaded blue screen appears and the first line of the text is as shown above. Can someone explain this and help me to recover using the application? This does not happen with any other application as far as I can see, including another program of digital imaging Photoshop Elements 6.

    Hello

    As the application works fine in safe mode, it would take a few conflicts between the third-party applications. Perform a clean boot and see for the third-party application that may be causing the problem.

  • ProBook 450 - second series of recovery media, blue screens windows 7 (win 8 okay, not the hardware problem)

    I had a new HP probook 450 G1.

    Immediately, I swapped the 750 GB for one SSD drive and tried to install Windows 7 from the recovery media. The operation has failed. Contact HP support, they sent new media.

    I used new media. Windows 7 operating system installed. As soon as I install the drivers, the PC goes in a loop of the blue screen.

    I can install the chipset drivers and wifi. Don't know what the other driver is causing the blue screen. I can also install from the windows media 8, so this isn't a hardware problem - wife hates just windows 8.

    Basically, please either give me a few troubleshooting steps or I'll go back to the PC. I'm NOT insterested in a manual process long to determine which driver is the problem and the recovery download media manually the drivers one... should work.

    After you have reinstalled the original 750 GB hard drive with the replacement media, I managed to an attempt to "recover". So, I decided to sit and try, by the process of elimination, all drivers.

    It turns out that the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver was causing the problem. When I installed everything BUT that, the laptop works very well. Notice that I use a fairly new SSD Crucial of M500. It is quite possible there are other people out there see it. You really need to install the driver of rapid storage technology, it is fast enough - not not even 100% sure what good to give the driver.

    So I gave myself wrong guidance by the initial recovery of defective media. The second group of work recovery media, but the version of the driver intel 12.7.3.1001 does NOT work with the Crucial M500. I checked the Intel site for driver downloads, and it was not clear that they have a newer driver appropriate right now. Maybe someone else can tell?

  • Unable to install Win XP Pro on the Qosmio X 300

    Is it possible to install XP Pro on my Qosmio X 300.
    I tried to install it but now luck.

    I could format the HARD drive and then install or what I have to do something with the Bios.
    Frank

    Of course, you can install Win XP on this laptop.

    Can I ask you if you have already created a Toshiba Recovery DVD?
    I guess you laptop supports the recovery of HARD drive and no drives have been provided with this device.
    Before to format the HARD drive, you must create a recovery DVD using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

    Furthermore, I believe that you are not able to install XP because the SATA driver were not included in your Win XP operating system.
    Well, on some laptops you can disable the SATA AHCI in the BIOS and could spend in compatible mode. This would install the Win XP without a SATA driver.
    But this option is not available on all models of laptops. You need to check this first.

    Finally, I must say that this topic has been discussed a lot of time here in the forum. Maybe not specifically in the forum of Qosmio X but in the other forum and the SATA installation procedure is the same on all laptops.
    So look for a little

  • BSOD occurs when I try to install Windows XP Home on the Satellite A100-VA5

    I got a brand new Toshiba A100 - VA5 Notebook, here in Toronto in the Canada.

    Laptop came with Vista. I don't have a problem with vista, but there are some software that I need for my work and they do not work on Vista.
    I decided to install Windows on a partition, but when I run the XP installation CD, it errors on a blue screen with the error below

    The Blue error screen I get when installing WXP stop is

    Stop: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF76450BF, 0XF7A91208, 0XF7A90F080)

    I searched on Internet forums, some people have had similar problems on a computer no-Toshiba with XP and the problem was caused because the XP installation CD does not have S - ATA Raid Controller drivers? Which after pressing F6 at the start-up of the plant, solved the problem.

    However, I was unable to find the drivers for the controller S - ATA Raid on Toshiba support site, and I don't know where to find them. Someone knows something like that and it is due to S - ATA Raid Controller drivers? And if the answer is Yes, where can I find them since?

    Thank you

    Omer

    Hello

    Everything you need you can find on Toshiba Canada support page http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/ln_byModel.asp#
    When you choose your part number do not forget, you use PSAANC-VA505C number (check also on the laptop label in the lower corner of your laptop).

    Now, back to the blue screen. As far as I know for this model of laptop is not necessary to install the S - ATA Raid Controller at the beginning of the procedure of the facilities. For laptops with RAID driver this driver is available on the download page. This driver is not available for your laptop model.

  • Need Win XP drivers for the Satellite A100 bought in Malaysia

    Hi all

    I bought this A100 (PSAAKL-00E002) in Malaysia. Here's the specs

    * Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T2060
    (1.73 GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB)
    * Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
    * 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM
    * 80 GB SATA HDD
    * DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive (drive/RAM)
    * Screen 15.4 "WXGA TFT display
    * ATI Radeon® Xpress 200 M, up to 128 MB shared VRAM
    * Built-in wireless 802. 11 b / g
    * 56 kbps Modem
    * 10/100 Mbps Ethernet

    and move to 1 GB MB RAM currently.

    I sometimes get a BSOD in Vista Basic. Not that frequent but occasionally BSOD. I felt that the new Vista is a little sensitive to any change in drivers. For example. screnario: I bought a new mouse, plug it in and it will start is installed. After you have installed the mouse drivers, I went into control panel of-> mouse to change some settings... Well... BSOD... :(

    So I decided to downgrade to Win XP Pro instead. I managed to install everything except the graphic card drivers: ATI Radeon® Xpress 200 M.

    I tried to download on all the Toshiba site, but none of them works. I even tried to download from the ATI site itself. Whenever I try to install the drivers it pushes me, missing "INF".

    For VISTA, here is the list of drivers and applications that must be installed

    Sun Java 2 Runtime Environment
    Chipset ATI UMA software and display driver
    Realtek ALC861 Audio driver
    Synaptics TouchPad Driver
    Cable LAN Driver Realtek
    ENE1410 Cardbus driver
    TOSHIBA software modem
    Driver Lan Atheros 802.Wireless wireless
    Toshiba Extended Tiles for Windows Mobility Center
    TOSHIBA Value Added Package
    TOSHIBA hardware setup
    TOSHIBA supervisor password
    TOSHIBA Assist
    TOSHIBA ConfigFree
    Silent acoustic CD/DVD

    I managed to install all the mention above under XP, with the exception of "UMA Driver Chipset ATI Software and display.

    Now, I'm not sure that the missing 'inf' refers to the chipset or display driver

    Anyone has any idea where I can download a compatible graphics driver for Win XP PRO?

    Hi guys

    I think it s not a driver issue but probably the additional memory module is not 100% compatible or defective.
    So I really recommend using the modules recommended by Toshiba.

    However, when it reboots it is a windows is loading page "files" and then the splash screen, then there is a black screen with a cursor and gets stuck here.

    Hello

    Check the HARD drive!
    Use the tool called Drive Fitness Test which can be downloaded for free.
    This tool creates a startup disk that is running a HARD drive test.

    By the way; have you tried recovery disk to reinstall the OS?
    Usually, HARD drive recovery can be started by pressing F8 (when starting laptop) and then you must choose option fix my computer that contains HARD drive recovery.
    But maybe this option does not exist anymore if you have already tried a fresh install of the OS

  • Unknow new device after the bios update and to install win 7 pro to the T400

    Hi all!

    My laptop: T400 2767-2JU. After the most recent update of the bios version (3.09) and own to install all the drivers in the Lenovo Site, I found an unknown device: Simple PCI communications controller. I don't think it's Thinkpad Modem, because, before updating the bios, the system does not have it.

    PS: Sorry for my English . Where to post the link to the image? All the drivers are installed

    I've seen it suggested that this (lists of mine such as serial Port PCI) device is Intel AMT / series on local network service.  Not useful for users and some utilities normally hides.

  • No picture on the TV when you use S-Video on the Satellite A100-819

    Hello

    I'm trying to connect my laptop A100-819 to a TV using the S-video output on the laptop and the input S-Video on the TV, but I can't!
    I'm only a black screen that flashes white sometimes when I press Fn + F5 or when I try to clone the screen in the settings of my GeForce (nView).
    The laptop can't find the TV when you try to detect it in nView.

    One of my friends has already used the cable, so there is no problem.
    My TV is also defined for S-video.
    I installed the latest driver for my GeForce Go 7600 and my BIOS.

    Does anyone have a solution?
    What I have to change something in the BIOS?
    There is a person with the same specifications (or with a GeForce Go) who has already try the same thing? And did you?

    Greetings,
    Philippe

    Hello

    I tested the s-video output on this laptop and everything worked properly.
    I really put t know why it doesn't work on your laptop.

    Despite the fact that the s-video cable worked on computer s friend, you should test another because there are various cables s-video with different ends such as SCART connector or only s-video and two taken RCA for sound.

    In addition, I would recommend test this on laptop retrieved fresh.

    In addition, you could take the laptop to your friend and try it on another TV.
