After trying to import my favorites saved in an html file, using bookmarks > organize bookmarks > import and backup > import html, nothing is being updated from saved files

This isn't "machine code", it's like a JSON backup file is formatted (except it usually shows no line breaks, it's a long line when displaying in most text programs or in Firefox). Rename a JSON file as HTML does not work, the formats are completely different.

If you replace this file in jsonextension, you should be able to restore these data in Firefox.

The problems are gone now. However, I'll never know exactly what that caused them. When I restarted the computer in safe mode problems continue. But when I tried to restart my computer does not recognize the hard drive in safe mode or in normal mode.

It is possible that the Firefox problems were caused by a faulty hard drive.

I was able to rebuild the directory with Disk Warrior and transfer my files, but the disk would not boot. Fortunately, I had a spare hard drive. I installed and reloaded all my software and data from scratch. I also downloaded the latest version of Firefox. Firefox works fine now.

Thanks for all your suggestions. They may not have fixed this particular problem, but I learned a few new tricks from you to solve other problems.

  • How can I move Bookmarks imported from internet explore from the folder to show when I click on Favorites

Imported bookmarks are in a folder if I create a new bookmark in Firefox, it appears only when I click on Favorites. Please how I can move the IE those above?

  • How to add all the Bookmarks imported (from Chrome) in the toolbar (not only the menu bookmark)

  • History of bookmarks import without a backup available

A few days ago the motherboard on my computer is out, and the computer is Kaput. The hard drive is OK. I installed it as a secondary on my new computer drive (the two XP Win SP3s)

What was my local c:\drive is now my drive e:\, and that's where all my favorites and history are stored.

Of course there is no return to the top, so I need to know if there is any way I can get my settings of the e:\drive in my newly installed Firefox?

    1. Locate your old profile on your now secondary drive (E: /)

    2. Open your current profile (c: /)
      • In Firefox help > troubleshooting information > Application Basics section. Profile folder. Click on the button view the folder will open a window of the Explorer of your current profile folder
      • closing of Firefox
    3. Copy places.sqlite since your old profile folder (on E: /) to your profile folder (c: /)
      • ATTENTION: copy of the file on top of the current places.sqlite file will replace any bookmarks and history that you added in the new Firefox profile on your current C drive. /.
    4. Restart Firefox and your bookmarks and history should be available

Other files that you can copy from your old profile to new profile. Don't copy not the profile folder.

  • Bookmarks 'Import' (e.g. from Safari) disappeared for the latest version of Firefox. How can I do?

I use 8.0.1 Firefox and OS 10.6.8 in my Mac Pro. I use the function to import from Firefox for years. I tried reinstalling Firefox (& first dumping Firefox and its Application Support file). I'm also using Ghostery and Norton.

Thanks, but it apparently it only works with the PC.

I figure out what to do, however:
    (1) choose "show all bookmarks".
    (2) click on the strange, right-most, icon star on the top left of the Library window.
    (3) select "import data from another browser.

    Thanks again.

  • easy access to bookmarks imported in HTML

    Hello...

recently installed Tor Browser that uses 8 FF. Imported my favorites of Chrome as a HTML file but find they are so deeply rooted in the system of bookmark FF at the point of being unusable. To join, I have to scroll through a series of files labeled "Imported" until I finally. Is there a way to get around this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Alan D Kerr

You can use cut and paste to move them to another folder of bookmarks as a folder of bookmarks toolbar or bookmarks Menu folder main if they are currently in a Google Chrome form or a similar folder.

  • After installation, bookmarks import/restore will require the password from the previous version

I tried to set the master password yet appeared that submit or accept was grey and there was no focus confirmation. No PC to use for more than a week (out of the city for the funeral) was subsequently returned to find now need a master and had no idea that I had used the day I tried to settle this. I've saved my favorites and now wonder if I install a new version if those import requires the password that I don't know.

I suggest that the master password must confirm that it has been set. I had 'cancelled' on this screen so assumed, no password has been in place. Hard lesson to find out if I have to reset and lose all the passwords.

First of all, ALWAYS save your passwords safe, just for this reason.
As for the master, this effects only password manager. The other
managers should not be carried out.
