Boot minimum vs Mode to set the CPU to 80-100% safe

Hello

I have a really strange question with Win7.

Applications repeatedly work really slow. for example scrolling a web page just freezes for a few seconds. Typing emails or documents in the form of Word stops trolling what is typed. Start Windows and stop takes forever.

Secondly when you open Windows Explorer and navigate the C: (for example) and then right click on C: to try to do a checkdisk or defrag, I get a message saying that the Explorer has stopped and that "Windows is trying to find a solution." I have never further with this operation!

Sometimes, when stop Win7 I get a black screen momentarily to say a word about "trying to close the Explorer.

What I tried: -.

Safe mode... Win7 seems fine. Task Manager/performance moved to 0% after a few seconds of inactivity.

Safe mode with network... Win7 looks very good.  Task Manager/performance moved to 0% after a few seconds of inactivity.

Boot minimum incentive msconfig and Services, turn off everything except Microsoft essential services then starting and turning off everything that it too.

Reboot and the problem persists.

I ran Malwarebytes, Spybot S & D and CCleaner to remove all the garbage.

So, it looks like something in my Win7 is broken, causing a problem with the Windows Explorer and gobble up time CPU.

I do not have a Win7 CD because the machine was delivered with installed Win and the OEM does not exist today.

HELP Please?

Thank you

Dave

Hello world

I have found the answer.

After following the advice above I discovered that svchost.exe was the culprit gobble up CPU resources.

looking at what svchost was running, it turned wuauserv was the culprit.

Kinda funny that windows update has been which ran mock when that's what's supposed to keep windows up-to-date and functioning properly.

I downloaded the patch to repair KB3102810 - x 64 msu and reinstalled the windows Downloader.

CPU is now idling at 0%.

Hope this helps others.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Firefox does not start (not safe mode), but uses the CPU

I have the latest Firefox 25.0 (and the last Flash 11.9.900.117) on Windows 7 and the following behavior is reproducible. It started not too long ago.

At first when I launch Firefox, nothing appears no matter how often, I restart. I see in the list of the process firefox.exe to 25% of the CPU, 2 x FlashPlayerPlugin_11_9_900_117.exe (CPU 0%) and plugincontainer.exe. No matter how many times I killed all of them, would not restart Firefox.

The following also not help in this situation:

    • Starting in normal safe mode: Firefox opens a window but immediately freezes and does not respond. The process list shows the same process even if I find the unexpected FlashPlayer.
    • Disable plugincontainer: same results (just without plugincontainer.exe)
    • Uninstall Flash: Same results (just without FlashPlayerPlugin)

The following can start Firefox only once:

    • Starting in SafeMode but select "Reset Firefox": Firefox does not start right away, however. Nothing happens, and you have to kill the process. However the very next time you launch Firefox in the normal way, it works fine (but it shows FlashPlayerPlugin.exe in the list of unopened Windows process despite the tab). Unfortunately, after closing Firefox the process (Firefox, FlashPlayerPlugin) are not deleted. I kill and the problem with Firefox do not leave reappears.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

    • do not delete Cookies

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

Use "Firefox > output" (Windows: Firefox/file > quit;) Mac: Firefox > quit Firefox. Linux: Firefox/file > exit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing by clicking on the X close in the title bar of Firefox.

Create a new profile manually (and not via the reset) as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem.

  • Script to set the CPU and memory for VMS

    Hi all

We have an environment with 100's of virtual machines. We have classified these VMs, and each category will have specific vMem and vCPU. Excel / csv spreadsheet has the list of virtual machines, as well as the values of vCPU and vMem. I'm looking for a script that can set the values of vCPU and vMem for virtual machines according to the directives of the excel sheet. If anyone can help with this?

  • Tile performance - I want to set the maximum value to 100%

    Hello

I'm running a question on the slab of the Performance.   I'm hungry when I'm adding percentages and rolling up to a tile of unique performance.  If the point x: 11%, Y: point 19%, point 24% Z:... etc.  However, when I add all the elements together, sometimes I'll get 101% which, in our profession, the rule, not possible.    Is there a way to force the maximum allowed be 100%?  I would like a method to implement logic that says: when summarizes all the elements, if the value is greater than 100, make the value of 100.

I know that this sometimes rounding errors on individual items, but it is acceptable.  I'm looking for a way change the tile of the performance instead.

    Thank you

Figured it out.  For future reference, I added a case statement for the sum... If the sum ([the index]) > 100 then 100.  Otherwise, use the sum ([the index]) essentially, go to edit the formula in the criteria and change now.

  • Igfxupdate.exe forces the cpu to load 100%

Recently, my cpu load @ full, when open the Task Manager it remains cool. I couldn't find IGFXupdate.exe job manager. When deleting the file in the windows folder, it activates by itself once the Task Manager is closed. Please someone find a solution to my problem... Even google is looking for the answer...

    Thank you

Hi, after several hours of attempts, I think I finally found the culprit:
most likely a Trojan Generic 792778 of KDV, it claims to be the windows service "Search Indexer" and it creates the executable file false: 'igfxupdate.exe' who tries to connect to the internet and increases cpu load all the time until you open the Task Manager to hide...
So I solved the problem like this:
in the windows services management console, I disabled the above fake windows service (he was in automatic start mode) and after I deleted the igfxupdate.exe file in the windows system32 folder...
I restarted the pc and I deleted the same service with the command: "sc delete SearchIndexer '...
problem solved! CPU back to the normal level, no more connections and no more files igfxupdate autour...
in any case, for more security, it is best to also do a full scan with a good antivirus/malware software

  • my pc CPU running at 100% for all the programs I opened / what is the problem and how to solve?

my pc CPU fan runs very strongly & the processor running at 100% for all the programs I opened. DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A VIRUS IN THE PC WAS WORKING FINE A FEW DAYS AGO. How can I solve this issue?

    Hello

You did changes to the computer before this problem?

Step 1: Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

    Reference:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Step 2: Also, look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.

    Hello

In cooling mode active, while the CPU temperature is low (usually about 55 degrees), the fan is beeng rotation at low speed, about 2000 RPM. Good quality fan is very silent on this mode.

In any case, you could check if the fan is spinning by the hardware test tool, HWiNFO is an example.

Of course, once the laptop is on, the fan starts to work at the POST stage too.

  • The CPU usage goes to 100%

I have a laptop Dell Studio 2010, the processor Intel, 4 GB of ram, hard disk 320 GM (180 GB consumed) running Windows 7 and IE 11 giving me CPU usage problems.  I don't know what everything is related, so here's the story.

I lived my download speed slow - dropped by half every 2 hours or more after a reboot.  Occasional problems with the speed of the computer as well, and when I checked the resource monitor I see the CPU usage hit 100%.  A reboot has always solved the problem.  Running in Mode safe mode eliminates the loss of download speed so I knew it wasn't a problem with the hardware or my cable modem or a wireless router.  I have explored many possible problems, but none solves the problem, then I reinstalled Win 7 Friday, January 16.  Download speed, not only fixed but faster than before.  It remains stable and do not disintegrate so there was something wrong with the OS, etc.

However, the problem of the use of the CPU remains.  What seems to happen is that something triggers a high demand and then all processes on the computer joins.   When I look at the resource now monitor consumes 1.3% of CPU, but when things are choking it consumes 15% of CPU and go all processes running as 0.5% to 5%.  So you can't point to a single process as the culprit it is possible that web sites of strong demand (lots of ads) trigger the problem.  I'll do some research on that.

I did a lot of web research as well as this forum, and no patches seem to work or apply to me.  I ran a Malwarebytes scan and a full virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials: nothing found.

The computer is almost 4 years, but I wouldn't spend the $$ to replace and find that the problem is software.  Any ideas?

The problem solved when I've upgraded to Win10 on this machine.  At the same time degradation download speed (with time) newsletter is resolved.  I can't imagine how everything worked but I discussed the idea with several IT people I know and have gotten various suggestions.

Since a clean installation of the operating system has not fixed it, I do not understand why install Win10 fixed, but that's it.

Since then, I've replaced this computer.

  • Defining the limit of the CPU with c#

I can't set the CPU limit. Whenever I run the following code what happends is the VM shares get set to low temperature.

    spec.cpuAllocation = new VimApi.ResourceAllocationInfo ();

    spec.cpuAllocation.shares = new VimApi.SharesInfo ();

    spec.cpuAllocation.shares.level.Equals ("custom");

    spec.cpuAllocation.limit.Equals ((long) 1200);

    clientInfo.Connection.Service.ReconfigVM_TaskAsync (vmmor, spec);

How you set the CPU limit using c#?

    Thanks Jim.

The snippet above in c# will ask you to set a property more in the specifications, in order to define the limit correctly.

    > spec.cpuAllocation.limitSpecified = true;

In c#, there are certain properties that require '< propertyName > specified' to 'true '.

    Hope that solves your problem.

  • Deadline the CPU.

Hi guys have an ESXi newbie question.

I put ESXi on a test machine.  Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ.

When I check the allocation of resources. The deadline for reservation of CPU is 1539 MHZ.

How do you calculate this limit?  Is this something that can be changed?

    2. in general do I have to set the CPU limits or can I just put it in unlimited?

By default, the limit of the reserve is equal to the difference between the cycles available total CPU physical in the Active Server less than CPU cycles used by the vmkernel, virtual running machines and what is reserved by the pools VMa and resources - so in your example, there is 1539 MHz available that can be reserved.

With regard to the limits - I wouldn't recommend playing them - the VMkernel does a great job of scheduling so when your virtual machine needs, it is available and when it is not required, it is returned in the pool-
