    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forum.

The error "the specified device name is invalid" is displayed if you try to name a folder with a name that represents a limit of MS-DOS device name.

The MS-DOS device driver names cannot be used as file names in Windows. As a result, we cannot name as records con, zero, etc.

Microsoft MS-DOS booked these names for these system device drivers.

    • CON: Keyboard and display
    • PRN: System list device, usually a parallel port
    • To THE: auxiliary device, usually a serial port
    • CLOCK$: the system real-time clock
    • DRAW: Bit-Bucket device
    • A:-Z:: the drive letters
    • COM1: First communications port series
    • LPT1: First parallel printer port
    • LPT2: Second parallel printer port
    • LPT3: The third parallel printer port

  • Using the coordinates entered to set the starting point of a Tween

    Hello

I have a movieclip 'pano_mc' that moves around through the movement of the mouse, there is a hotspot (hs1_mc) nested within it (which moves with the Pano_mc), I have a hs1_mc event delivery, once pressed allows me to get the x and y 'pano_mc' at the point of delivery, I need a way to use these x and y corodinates to set the starting point for the interpolation , on Pano_mc.

Cannot use 'this' (as shown in the link above) that the event is on the hs1_mc and if I just use '_x' interpolation setting, it begins where the film is originally and not where it is when the delivery is executed, where I get the cordinates right here.

    var hotSpotTweenX:Tween = new Tween (pano_mc, "_x", mx.transitions.easing.Elastic.easeOut, 0, "400", 3, true);

Is there a way to fill '_x' with the var newx:Number = stagePosition.x; who holds the accurate cordinate of the pano_mc at the time of the press...

I need to be able to use the coordinates xy of the pano_mc captured by the delivery, to set the starting point of the interpolation which then tweens the movie at a predefined point... create an interpolation of seemless...

Can anyone shed some light on this... Thanks in advance

"_x" isn't the starting value. This is the property you're interpolation. your ' 0 'is the starting value and your '400' (which really shouldn't be in quotes) is the value of end to resolve your problem, use a variable instead of ' 0'.

    Try the following.

    Judgment of the laptop.

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Bios Menu ( f10 ).

Under the System Configuration tab, expand the Boot Options Menu.

You must set the Secure Boot to disabled and legacy devices on " Enabled".

When you're finished, press f10 and select this option to Save the changes.

You will then need to enter a PIN of 4 numbers displayed on the screen to confirm the changes to the settings - enter the code and press ENTER.

Insert the DVD and the laptop shutdown .

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to select the option of CDROM and press ENTER - if you are prompted to "Press any key to continue...". "- make.

Note:  If the DVD you want to boot from a Windows 8/8.1 installation disk and your hard disk has a GUID Partition Table (it will almost certainly unless you have changed it), you have to select the CDROM (uefi) option in the Boot Manager menu.

  • "No boot device, press a key." Unable to access BIOS. Does not start a DVD. USB not a startup option.

How can I get into the BIOS or boot from a Live CD or the Windows installation disk?

    Here's the background info:

    Laptop: Acer TravelMate P273-MG-6608

    OS: Windows 8.1

    Actions leading to the problem:

I tried to encrypt the drive using BitLocker.

On reboot, I get the error message "no boot device, press a key."

When I hit a button, I get a boot menu that lists the HARD drive, DVD player and optional network initialization.

Booting from either the HARD drive (of course) or DVD does not work.

    The discs I've tried:

    Acer system restore disk

    Restore Win 7 disc

    UBCD

    Hiren

Ubuntu installation (Saw elsewhere on this forum that worked for someone).

Methods that tried to access the BIOS:

Turn on/off the laptop while holding down the key F2.

While tapping the F2 key about once per second.

Same thing with the delete key.

    Same thing with F10.

Same thing with Alt + F10

    Same thing with F8.

Each method has tried several times without success.

    Action taken:

Removed the HARD drive and connected to a work computer. In doing so, I was able to recover all my files.

Player settings appeared to all be correct. Drive letter C:, file NTFS format, primary partition, the recovery partition was there as well.

Re-inserted the original in the laptop HARD drive - without success.

Formatted the primary partition on the HARD drive, put it in the laptop, the same results.

Formatted the entire HARD drive, put it in the laptop, the same results.

    What I see as options:

    1. format the HARD drive outside Windows, for example using Hiren's Boot CD and Gparted.

    2. in so doing, and imaging of the player with a 8.1 for Windows or ISO 7, if I can find a.

    3. If I can get into the BIOS, I should be able to get the laptop to boot from something. Or disable UEFI, which I think is part of the question.

Any ideas on how I can enter the BIOS or get the laptop to boot from the HARD disk or a floppy disk?

    Solved.

I downloaded the required BIOS file of:

    http://global-download.Acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_2.08_A_A.zip?acerid=635114527449782829&S...

Once downloaded, I extracted the files from the archive .zip.

Then I low-level formatted a disk USB flash with the FAT32 file system.

Once this is done, I copied the files from within the archive on the USB flash drive.

With the USB stick inserted into the laptop, I turned on it while pressing ALT + ESC. This brough to the top of the screen where I choose to hit F2 for the program installation, or F12 for the boot menu.

I pressed F2 and the BIOS came admin screen. Then I yelled something like ' Hallelujah! "

I changed the MBR to the STRANGE device, put in the first disk to factory default retrieve and press F10 to save and exit the BIOS.

The Acer splash screen went up, and the laptop booted into the recovery disc. It should work here.

I hope this helps someone in the future.

  • PXE - M0F No., circumvented Bios boot device

    Predator G9-791 - 735-A

    Windows 10

I have a complicated situation. I tried to dual boot my laptop. Initially, he wasn't recording my USB and I read that I had to change UEIF to the old version. While I was in the BIOS I also put the supervisor password. Finally managed to do the install and when I restarted my computer I well PXE-M0F/check cable connection/no bootable device. I tried to go into the bios to change the return parameters by default but now whenever I hit the key to enter the bios and type my password it just goes straight to the trying to start so now I can only boot from a USB key. I tried out the CMOS to put everything back by default in the BIOS, but no matter how long I leave, there will be no discount. While he was out I had unplugged it from the power adapter as well as the motherboard. My next step is to try to Flash the BIOS but I can't run the program from the command prompt and I can't get into Windows and as far as I know Windows not a version live to run the program. I also tried to do the factory reset and restore from a backup in the Windows Setup screen, but he said he could not understand what operating system to restore and restart my computer. I'm running out of ideas, anyone can think of something?

OK, so please put the CD drive and try to boot in the BIOS.

  • Tecra A11 - 17 C - impossible to boot from LAN

    Hello

    For the last few days I worked on a Toshiba Tecra A11 - 17 c PTSE0E - 02W01GEN.

I work in a school and we have about 15 of these laptops. I was not the person who did the origonal installation and this person has not left.

One of the computers needed a re - build. We use an installation of LAN to windows 7 so I put prioraty device that the network card, save it and re - start.

Then, sometimes with the error PXE - E61 Media Test failed, check the cable.
Now, I know the NIC works fine beuse it worked before I did any messing around.

I then checked the other laptop and I get the same error PXE - E61 Media Test failed, check the cable and they all fully functional network ports.

So I thought ok there is something in the BIOS.
I found nothing apart an Enable lan option that is enabled.

It was suggested to relax the default BIOS and then format the hard drive.
So I thought ok well first I'll try it with the BIOS reset if that does not work, I'll do a format.

So after that it does not work I thought Okay I'll just clone your laptop work with clonezilla.

Do I get to the windows flag then instantly the blue screen of death, I can't read it so I is much too fast.

I thought ok I swap hard drives with the work there. The boots work the clone hard drive just fine without error at all, but the work PC hard drive load the windows flag then blue screen of death.

I then used a product recovery disc now, it's a drive of windows XP is usless. But I did anyway, and same thing again, it turns the disc fine install XP fine but the flag windows and blue screen of death.

I finally intertwined a hardrive work 1 different working laptop and a same new blue screen of death in wondows flag.

It seems to me there must be something on the bios that is
    (A) stop the network port in the bios
    (B) stopping the different hard drives to work in the laptop, even if it's exactly the same laptop.

They built from the network before for the wondows current installation works, but I have no idea what to do now.

The error PXE - E61 Media Test failed, check the cable means that the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN, but the configuration of the installation could not proceed.
    Why?
I m not very well why, but probably there is something wrong with the PXE server settings, etc.

Are you sure that PXE server has been correctly configured to 100%?
If this is not the case, check this box.

    > I then used a product recovery disc now, it's a drive of windows XP is usless. But I did anyway, and same thing again, it turns the disc fine install XP fine but the flag windows and blue screen of death.

Always is Win XP installation could be completed, and this means that the HARD drive should be ok.
The BSOD could be due to incompatible software or wrong / driver that is part of the recovery disk

Are you sure that the Win XP Recovery disk you used was the right one?

How about installation using charge Windows 7 system using the disk of Microsoft?

  • "Boot device not found" Message After BIOS Update

Today I was invited by the HP Support Assistant software that a BIOS update was available, so I got the application download and install the update. When the computer is back to the top, it says the boot device is not found.

    Ugh.

Can someone help me with this?

I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC running Windows 8.1. Laptop was working fine before the update, which means that I probably would not have allowed the update of the BIOS.

I found the problem (for me, anyway).

    1) go into the BIOS (F10 from your black screen) configuration settings.

    (2) fix the "Legacy Boot Options" and save your changes.

As soon as I did it, it starts immediately in Windows.

  • Satellite problem BIOS L750 - cannot change the boot sequence

    Hello reader/answering my questions.
I am having trouble with my 750 ODN bios. This bios is an official update (3.6) from the center of support, and almost everything has been fine since (the plot thickens!). I decided one day I want to dual boot with linux, in particular Fedora (this is unrelated to this though).

But, when I burned the disc and tried to direct (too test) boot the boot order has been on hard drive, first of all, I found! I rebooted and pressed f12 - did not work.
I tried to delete and escape - neither worked. Then, I tried all the f keys - none of them worked.
Whenever he took me to the Windows Start menu, and I explored it and I could not find anything.

It is also important to mention that I'm under Win 7 SP1.
I tried both PLoP and osloader (too boot from the dvd) - neither worked.
I also do not remember what the button to start the bios was originally - Oops!

Also toshiba with instructions logo never appears.
I would really just change the order of boot however, the rest of the bios I don't need access too much right now.

A separate issue is that Windows randomly decides he wants to check my hard drive, which takes forever, and he won't until he arrives to check it out. I think it may need medical help.

But, no help, a qualified doctor or not, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Mitchell

    Hello

    > I also don't remember what the button to start the bios was originally - Oops!

Pressing F2 by turning on the device could help you access the BIOS.
But you do not need to change the boot order in the BIOS. You can do it by pressing F12. This should be done immediately after you have turned on the laptop.
Then the start menu appears and you can choose the right boot device.

    Does it function?
