BPM Suite

Hello

What is the difference between Oracle BPM studio and Oracle Enterprise BPM?

That make the latter two are used?

Oracle BPM Studio is used by analysts and developers where all the modeling and development take place.

Business analysts use Studio 4 things:

(1) business process model in a basic role of workflow business process diagram
(2) document the business process for the participants of the end-user and developers
(3) to simulate business processes and perform analysis to determine if the designed process will achieve the goals of cost, time and speed desired.
(4) create business rules

Developers use Studio for:

(1) do the 4 things listed above
(2) expose existing components of the enterprise (Java POJO, databases, bus service, .NET assemblies, web services, etc.)
(3) create a logic that calls exposed components.
(4) create variables that stores the information that each instance work item must do its job, he reached each activity in the process
(5) create objects that can be used to carry information throughout the process. These objects can contain attributes for the storage of information, methods of the necessary logic and presentations to present information to end users within human activities inside the process.
(6) create BAM dashboard reports that aggregate and display information of KPI in the form of pie, bar charts, and gauges.

Oracle Enterprise BPM is the execution environment which consists of:

(1) an Administration console process to publish and deploy processes created by analysts and developers who use the Studio
(2) an engine that runs either on a JAVA virtual machine or on an application (WebLogic or Web Sphere) Server
(3) databases that automatically persist instance variables
(4) a web based workspace that allows users to interact with instances of element of work flowing through the deployment process
(5) views of dashboard BAM that show the KPI pie, bar and evaluate information

Hope this helps,
Dan

    Hello

I have a good knowledge, but also work experience on SOA & Oracle SOA Suite 11 g.
Now, I've decided to learn Oracle BPM Suite 11 g.

Would you please suggest me the best resource for this.
I started going through Oracle BPM Suite 11 g manual. The book is good, but I just want to know if there is another resource/book is better than that.

    Concerning
    RaviKiran.

I think you'll find "Getting Started With Oracle BPM Suite 11 g R1: a tutorial" to be most useful as you're getting started. The only problem with it is that it was written a few years ago using 11.1.1.4. Some of the screenshots is different in the current version and it does not include the new features added in the 11.1.1.5 feature pack.

  • confusion about BPM suite and suite BPA

    Hello

I am very very new to Oracle BPM.

I just checked the site Web and found Oracle provides two suites - BPM and BPA for the management of business processes. I'm quite confused, what is the difference of their use? It seems to me that they are very similar to each other in functional.

Is there an article that explained their difference?

BTW: if I want to choose a suite just for modeling, implementing and tracking purpose, does that mean a suite BPM is more appropriate?

    Thank you
    Lesley

    Hi Lesley,

BPA is a process robust tool used by business analysts to model their process and all of the modeling business. BPA has many different types of charts that allow you to see the different levels of abstraction and decomposition. As you would exect, BPA has a robust process simulation capability. If you hit the forum BPA (Business Process Analysis Suite you will get more information on this subject by experts in BPA.

Oracle BPM was built and designed from the outset as a tool for Business Process Management (BPM) lifecycle full. It is similar to BPA that he supports the process, documentation and simulation modeling. I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SMEs and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in a few hours.

Here is where the two differ. Oracle BPM has been designed as a complete management tool business process which implements and monitors business processes from the outset. Its features include:

  • Logic - BPA is not a BPM tool, so it is not intended to support the logic of process necessary to run. To support this, Oracle BPEL is used in conjunction with the BPA. As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use the templates and drag and drop to create a large part of my logic. Once I added an object, it can be reused in many projects using the dependence of project or important artifacts. I test my logic using the debugger to method or at the level of the process Editor. As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I inherits the attributes provided by the components of introspectes. This means that if you have an ERP system with 138 attributes object, you don't have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.

  • TIME / run business process -end users interact with the process during execution using a STANDARD workspace. End users receive various roles. When they connect in the workspace, end users see as the work item instances that are in the roles assigned to them. There is an engine that stores instance work item information as it flows through the process during execution. The engine is as a traffic officer, ensure that the right work item instance goes to the right person in the right business at the right time.

  • UI - final user interface screens and complex interaction end user with a variety of screens can be built inside the editor of Oracle BPM toolset. The forms that you create are automatically presented to end users in the workspace.

  • Integration of existing assets THERE -Oracle BPM can expose and consume the components directly or via a service bus. Once consumed, the components can be used by any process that need to invoke the runtime.

    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Ask about the status of the process in SOA/BPM suite 11 g

    Hello
I'm new to BPM 11 g. I noticed that whenever I transferred the part my application of BPM SOA, process already running instances are becoming obsolete. Does that mean that in a production environment, if I turn the part of SOA, all active processes will become obsolete and all running tasks will be left of the BPM workspace? Is it possible to control this behavior so that the task that is already running become not stale?
    Thank you
    Rahul

    Hi Raju.
Yes, it's true with all versions of SOA/BPM EXCEPT for the latest version of SOA 11.5 with Feature Pack (FP). Only SOA 11.5 Feature Pack have the opportunity to redeploy the workflow and at the time of the redeployment options to contiue running existing instances without them becoming stale.

Now coming to older versions of the soa, one option is to create a different version of the SOA Workflow each time that fire you as MyWokflow 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc. Don't overwrite the same versions. When you deploy JDeveloper for application server or build a jar of the SCA, you have options to give the version number. So give each time a different version number and you can deploy this version. Now another workflow so hopefully you deploy the rest of the projects like TaskForms, pots, etc of the EJB as a separate EAR of workflow JAR. Best practice is to deploy any Worklfow application in the form of 2 modules. A JAR of workflow and other EAR file that has all the stuff (projects), with the exception of the EAR.

  • How to find a good practical tutorials BPM (specifically Oracle 12 c BPM composer)

Questions for the BPM expert group?

I found the link above, but it is not a comment section where I can ask my questions (or if there is I don't have access to it).

I'm new to general and back to Oracle BPM Suite BPM. I evaluate my company see if it's something that we can use, but I found little of practical tutorials or examples for the BPM Suite 12 c. I have not yet figured out how to import from other sources BPM diagrams (and I know this feature exists). Any advice?

  • BPM process stops just to work on a Service mission (?)

Hi, I work with Oracle SOA and BPM Suite 11.1.1.6.

I have modeled, implemented, and deployed a BPM process successfully and it works perfectly until you get to a certain task in Service, almost an end oh the process, where to stop and not continue to complete the process. It just stops. Apparentrly that the Service task has been run successfully, because when I read the trace the task get the response from the service. But the failure of the process continue to run forever.

There is a ComplexGateway after the service task that merge a parallel bridge. I implemented the complex gateway with the expression activationCount == 1 and unckecked the "Abort pending changes" option Any idea? Could be the implementation of complex gateway the reason for the detention of process?

    Thanks in advance

    Isabel Bernely

I solved the problem! The question was that there are alternative streams which were fusion didn't at the entrance of the complex. I managed all streams finally in the gateway complex and the process went through instantly.

I hope to help someone else.

1 patch SOA Bundle # 18072286 for Oracle SOA, common houses Oracle OPatch utility.

2 15995111 patch: SU Patch [QD3C]: TRACKING BUG TO QUESTION WLS PATCH FOR BUG 14642695 FOR 10.3.5.0.0 using Smart Update tool.

    Hi Jean Jacques Pichon

    1. it is recommended to use WLS 10.3.6 BPM 11.1.1.7.x

    ACM requires BPM 11.1.1.7.3 (fix 18072286) and two WLS 10.3.6 patches: 14526899 (GJP7) and 14791221 (HLJ3)

    2. the KM 1572861.1 Note mentions a very similar problem. The solution is to apply the WLS 10.3.6 patch for bug 17190939 (HQM5)

    Hope this helps,

  • URL of the BPM attachment is always 127.0.0.1

    Hello

my name is Dimitri and my problem is this: I have a huge demand for BPM (BPM Suite 11 g Weblogic 10.3.6) with custom forms to ADF. Each shape has attachments tab which has a standard implementation of pre-emergent setting auto-generated form. The problem is that attachments can be opened as from the machine with weblogic server where the application is deployed from the entered URL always points to 127.0.0.1. The URL is just fine and you can open other machines 127.0.0.1 is changed manually in the address bar for the DNS name of the server. But of the same application, it can be opened to other machines where there is no weblogic.

Other URLs like URL of tabs on the form, the URL for the application - they all have a name DNS correct server and accessible from anywhere.

The URL of the attachment is still what follows.

I have even set up the integration of the University Complutense of MADRID, but the attachment in the attachments table in the AAU still have the URL 127.0.0.1.

I guess it's a configuration problem. Does anyone have an idea of how it can be fixed? It is essential.

Finally, I discovered a bad configuration hardcoded: in soa - infra-> SOA infrastructure-> properties common I changed URL of the server to 127.0.0.1 to correct my server DNS name and now the attachments have the right URL.

    Thanks anyway.
