Broadcasting SSId

My router and access point is currently broadcast and WPA protected.  Can I connect a HP Photosmart 6520 to this network?  How?

Hello

Yes, but for the installation, turn on the SSID, this will make life easier. After that you can deactivate return.

Kind regards.

  • WLS-9163 is unable to reconnect in wireless mode after reboot in a WLAN with broadcasting SSID

Initial configuration is defined by MAX using cable.  Wireless configuration is DHCP, with Infrastructure, WPA - PSK.  I save the settings and unplug the wired connection.  Then I delete the original instrument from the list of devices OR DAQmx of MAX.  Then I do a 'find network DAQmx Devices'.  The wireless device is discovered and works (self-test passes).  WLS link on the device indicator is green.

Then, if I cycle power on the 9163, the WLS link never comes.

This seems to be because my thread is not broadcasting an SSID.  If I go to a nearby access point and turn on the SSID broadcast, the WLS Link LED lights and MAX can review system.

Is there a way to make the 9163 connect to a WLAN that don't broadcast a SSID?

    Burned - salvation

First of all, thank you for the detailed notes. This helps a lot. You have the right version of DAQmx; now, we just need to upgrade the firmware. Here's how:

After you have added the device in MAX (preferably on an Ethernet connection), click the button "Update Firmware":

You will get a window that looks like this, where you can see what version of firmware you have. Click the folder to find the new firmware. It takes by default in a directory on your hard drive that contains the file 'ni9163fwROM.cfg' (if that's not listed for some reason, you can find it here: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\fpgafiles\mionetwork\ni9163)

After the start of the update, you will look at a window of the scrollbar for a minute or two. Then, the device will be auotmatically reboot. You may need to reconfigure your settings after the update.

Regarding the deletion/time that you did. You should not. After you have configured the wireless, you should see an IP address in MAX on the wireless tab. If she is not there, click "Refresh" now you can pull the Ethernet cable and continue to use the device. (If you want to convince yourself, click on the "Refresh" button again and you will see that the "Link Status" for the "Wired" connection is "down".)

I hope this helps. Let us know what happens. Thank you

  • Disable broadcast SSID and MAC address turn on filtering on WAG320N

When disabling SSID broadcast and enabling MAC address filtering on WAG320N, my other laptop wireless disconnected.  And when you try to connect, it connects again.

You can not hide from intruders.

The router always sends the tag. The router is immediately detected.

The SSID is always transferred not encrypted. He is always sent over the association. It is easy to force a re-Association. If there is a single device without wire connected to the access point it takes about a second to learn the SSID.

Disable the SSID requires your wireless devices to search actively for the network. This means that your laptop will always try to connect to your SSID, as long as it is not connected to another network. As sending requires much more power then listen passively it drains your battery.

And, in fact, if you are in an internet café anyone can learn your SSID in time where you go on the wireless at the moment where you associate with the network of internet café.

In addition, it causes many problems with different wireless, as instability or similar cards.

MAC filtering is still more useless that the MAC address is always part of any wireless transmission and it's always clear. It is extremely easy to pick up the allowed MAC addresses, and it is extremely easy to change the MAC address of a wireless card.

New: use the real security and forget this nickname of security features.

What you try to do is a waste of time. Of your time. It will slow down any intruder.

  • APs broadcasting SSID no manual provisioning WLC (using DNS resolution to find WLC)?

    Hello community,

I use DNS name resolution to make discovery APs WLC here for the first time.

Could I do APs SSID broadcasting without any manual configuration on the WLC (provisioning AP)?

If so, it is possible to just allow APs to broadcast using their serial number or MAC address for example?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

I did not understand what is complete, but will try to put my point:

    1. If these are the (controller based AP) CAP, then you must add to WLC to have wireless access - I think that you already have or?

    2. once the AP joins WLC, they boradcast WLAN all (id 1 to 16) created the WLC.

There is no automatic process on caps, you must create the SSID on diffuse WLC from AP.

AP will not broadcast anything if they are not attached to the WLC.

I missed something or you have any other question?

  • Help: wet610n will not connect to wrt610n when the ssid broadcast is disabled

I have a wet610n wirteless bridge linking very well with my router wrt610n broadcast ssid is enabled on the router, but when I turn it off then (the rest unchanged), the wet610n can not connect.

    What I am doing wrong?

Or require the wet610n ssid will be broadcast (I didn't read that anywhere)?

    Thank you

I have power cycled it, but I tried again and then experienced little more after you reset the wet610n and reconfiguring again.

What seems to work, is to allow the broadcast of the SSID of the router and leaving the wet610n bridge wireless connection. So I can turn off the broadcast of the SSID and power cycle the wet610n and it can then connect.

Without the first activation of SSID and connected, the bridge connects wireless.

Thank you - it is "resolved".

  • Printer Hp6700: unable to connect to the router wireless D - Link DI-514 when SSID Broadcast is set to no.

HP6700 printer: unable to connect to the router wireless D - Link DI-514 when the router Broadcast SSID is set to no. My MAC laptop and HP laptop both work with the set SSID on no. If I change the router Wireless SSID Broadcast is YES, then the printer HP6700 can connect to the wireless router. I set up the printer it saying that the SSID and password have been, the same as both of my laptops, but it connects ever, unless I have change the router to broadcast the SSID. Help!

Have you tried to update the firmware on the DI-514?

You can also try to set a static IP address on the printer, and then assign the printer to the list of DHCP static in the interface of the router.
To give a static IP address to your printer:
-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.
Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that you remove and re - add the printer to your Mac.

  • "Other network" duplicate of non-broadcast network SSID wireless

There is a double "other network" always visible on my Windows 7 x 64 laptop (when my wireless is enabled). It seems to be the same non-broadcast SSID wireless network that I'm already logged in. I can select "Other network" and then enter the key WEP and SSID for the network that I am connected, and it connects... but only for "Other network" reappear.

If you have the time (and inclination), you could start completely from scratch. Reset the router to the factory settings, create a network different name (SSID) and the key wireless using Ethernet cable. Then, configure wireless computers.

    Good luck.

  • Cisco 5508 wlc mesh SSID broadcast?

    Hello

I feel a strange phenomenon in my environment. Users on computers laptops Windows seem to be trying to connect to the SSID, they see the arrival of an access point which is mode bridge (and not broadcasting an SSID). I confirmed that nothing weird happens where the bridge would be broadcast SSID (standing right next to the newly imaged bridge on a laptop and when I connect I continue straight to a properly configured flexconnect AP).

There is no output from the path of the box in Windows to tell the operating system that an access point is not valid once he thinks he is, so I'm reaching out to the community to see if someone else has seen this before. My next troubleshooting step is to bridges in stand-alone mode, if I can't find an answer.

The environment consists of a WLC HA pair, standard 5508 flexconnect environment internal wireless, and we have a pair of bridge linking the two buildings. The affected computers are Windows 7 and Windows 8

    Hello

Are you sure the mesh, access point is not configured to announce the WLAN of concern?

Unless it is in a group of AP with no WLAN, WLAN 1-16 will be announced via its interface 2.4 ghz (and 5 GHz so "mesh access customer backhaul" is enabled).

Here's a controller cli command to confirm (1550 is the AP name) ("site name" is the ap group)

  • turn off the broadcast without wire - HP laserjet pro 400 color mfp m475dw

How do I disable broadcasting SSID for HP laserjet pro 400 color mfp m475dw.  I disabled the configuration via the web console wireless printer, but it is still broadcasting.  I also updated the firmware to 20131028 last available.

Since it is wiered one of the scenario, I could solve this with the help of the HP Support is by doing factory reset/NVRAM reset the unit by turning the printer and holding right arrow and cancel on the touch screen of the device (cancel is on the lower right of the touch screen on the black area and right arrow is just above him (one in the middle of the Panel) in the same black box) and the device of turning on until the message something like storage reset... is displayed and can release the two buttons/zone button.

  • How to connect a Journe Air 801 picframe to a hidden wireless network?

I want to connect my new Journe Air 801 picframe (model PA3701E-1ET2 number) to my WiFi network unencrypted with broadcast SSID disabled (network name is hidden).
    Is this feasible?

I already [read the user guide | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_manuals.jsp |] [Download manuals] up and down and I tried to use the advanced wireless configuration menu but it seems that the device does not provide a way to enter the network name (SSID) and so cannot connect to my wireless network.

I also [rechecked | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp |] Download drivers] if a firmware update is available, but there is none.

I can't believe that such a simple device is missing from the device, but if this is the case, where can I ask a updated firmware updated with the ability to connect to Wi - Fi networks that do not broadcast the SSID?

I searched on the [site Web from Toshiba | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/] but I have not found any e-mail or form to express my disappointment for the good service.

Well, in this case, you will need to make the Wlan SSID visible.
Then, you can connect to the WLan.
After that, you could hide the SSID in the WLan router settings
    Maybe this way is possible

  • Impossible to stay connected

I moved to a new city and set up on a new router provided by our company.  Everything worked wonder through our previous router.  Have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a.  Router comes from Hitron Technologies provided through Suddenlink cable company.  Running 2 laptops (with 2 versions of Windows - one provided by work on version 7, the other a personal portable version 8.1)-when I run the printer test page it says the OS environment is Windows X 64 the other says it's Windows NTx86.  I can't get my work laptop (if the printer went to sleep or the computer turned on for a few hours) to run, typing the printer key WPA wireless assistant whenever I want to print something.  Personal laptop that I literally have to reinstall the printer drivers on the computer and even that did not work today.  I have not yet tried the two IPADS yet but had in the past been able have them print via email HPE.  The last time I tried to do that it didn't work.  Needless to say that I can't continue to work in this environment and while I learned more that I always wanted to know about trying various corrections, I am not all tech savvy.  So I need a step by step fix.

These settings are to set up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, wireless devices stay better connected and makes your router secure and hack proof.

    1. define a static in the printer IP address (click here) out of the DHCP of the router Beach (check your manual).

It is for Linksys routers, but can be used for all routers. Check your DHCP range and change this

first of all if necessary. More Help Wireless Printing is here (Windows solution 4, static IP).

    2. check the printer "Auto off" is disabled.  Use the built-in webserver (EWS) by going

the IP address of the printer in the address bar of your browser, click on settings tab/Auto Off. Or use the printer

Assistant, printer Home Page (EWS). Also check the properties of your printers.

    3. If the printer supports and has IPv6 enabled, disable the IPv6 option in the printer.

    4. If necessary and you have assigned a static IP address, try using 8.8.8.8 for the preferred DNS server and

8.8.4.4 at the level of the auxiliary DNS server.

In the router: (refer to the manual of your router for more information)

    5. use a wireless channel fixed as 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.

6 choose the router to 20 Mhz only, or 145Mbps router function.

    7. always use WPA2-AES encryption (personal), but you can try the "mixed" mode

8 disable the WPS and never use it and disable the UPnP for the security of routers. No one can hack into your

now the system and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, research on the web).

    9. If you have a router dual band (2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz bands), make sure you the SSID is NOT the same.

they must be different for all the bands, even for networks without comments.

10 broadcast SSID must be enabled.

    11. save all settings. Food at the same time, wait 2 minutes.  Power on router wait 2 minutes.

12 turn on the printer and check that it reconnects to the router.

Windows 7/8/8.1 is discovered the system on or off?

    1. Control Panel/Network and Internet/network and sharing Center / advanced sharing settings.
    2. Under home or work (current profile) / network discovery.
    3. Select "Turn on network discovery" and save the changes.

  • Wireless repeating with DG834 and D6200

    Hello

I have a number of spare routers Netgear and I want to improve wireless in some areas of my property.

I've considered using the D6200 with broadcast SSID disabled wireless base station and the wireless client access disabled.

    Securiyty must be turned off.

I then wanted to take a couple of old DG834s and put in place in the relay, with the D6200 as the base station (the D6200 having their entries in the APs child table in the Station's basic config page).

I wanted to then enable WPA - PSK on the DG834s in order to maintain security.

This doesn't seem to work. The SSID of the DG834s is visible and I can enter the network password, but I can't get an IP address from the system (DHCP is disabled on all boxes I have a running separately in the network DHCP server).

I can't use WPA - PSK on the DG834s Repeater? Is that why I can't I onnecter correctly?

Or have I missed the point somewhere?

    Thank you

    Hello Nickc57

These modems are not really designed to do this, you may want to consider getting extensions.

  • WG102 fails with iPad / iPhone with iOS 6 and WPA2 / AES - urgent correction necessary!

    Hello *.

After upgrading my iPad to iOS 3 6 he constantly fails to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES - hidden or broadcast SSID - at home and at work because the device does not accept the WPA2 password. This is also the case for my iPhone 4s, but the two appliances worked with WiFi (WPA2 / AES) perfectly with previously installed iOS 5.1.1.

I tried to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1 but it seems to be is no longer possible to downgrade the two iPad 3 and iPhone 4S as certification and maybe the viewport for iOS 5.1.1 was closed by Apple.

Strange behaviour seems to address a problem of firmware of the installed Netgear WG 102 APs that all do not allow the connection of iOS 6 devices with WPA2 / AES enabled :-(

Does anyone know about a possible solution to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES with 3 iPad / iPhone 4 and iOS 6 update for Netgear WG 102 APs?

The downgrade to 5.0.1 works. He fixed a connectivity with my two devices IOS 6, my wife 5 iPhone and my new retinal screen of the iPad. It does not appear to have caused problems of connectivity with other devices down to 5.0.1
