Broken hard drive repair/replacement

My 2 year old g580 Lenovo specifications had a hard drive failure where the use of the disc works 100% or at a constant pressure, even if it is inactive. I thought it was a problem too so I bought a Lenovo approved hard drive. Then I read that the OS is attached hard disk.

I was wondering what course of action, I must take, I read that it is possible to migrate the operating system with some 3rd party software, although it seems a little fishy and I would rather see my alternatives. Is there a way to have a windows replacement drive sent me, or another way to get windows on my laptop?

Then the product key shoul is a chip on the motherboard.

If after installation of Windows 8, it should detect the key of the product itself.

You need only install the new hard drive in your system and install windows 8.

  • I bought a new hard drive to replace my old, broken, what do I have to buy windows again?

    Hello world!

I have a laptop very old but relatively powerful. The hard drive on this laptop broke about two years ago and I did not get around to fix until today. I bought a new hard drive and tried to download Windows 7 on a disk from the internet, I entered the product key located on the bottom of the laptop but I was arrested when I was told that the software is preinstalled on the previous hard disk by the manufacturer. It seems that the key I is still active on my old broken hard drive. Y at - it no word-all about this problem? or do I have to buy Windows 7 for my work laptop?

Any help would be great, thanks.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

  • If my hard drive is replaced

Does this mean I don't have the ability to record sounds on my computer without an external mic and also means that my video card has been compramised? Because when I save on my webcam that is not ringing and when I try to record only a sound he does more. I also used to be able to used windows movie maker and windows DVD Creator. I can no longer uses because it says something about the video card.

If your hard drive is replaced, and the computer restored/retrieved from reputable, responsible (s) tech, it should work in all directions, as expected. However, if there are problems with the hardware or software in addition to or apart from the problem with HD, this problem or these problems will have to be diagnosed and fixed as well.

  • Replace broken HARD drive: need a

Hi, I have a desktop HP Pavilion h6310y, Win7(x64). 6 GB ram, 1 TB WD HDD.

The drive has crashed. He was giving me problems for a while now, but now he's dead. I ran diagniostics standard hp bios on it.

    Error code: BIOHD - 1

Error: Fail to communicate with the device.

    Contact HP support.

The computer and the drive is out of hub, so I'll just have to replace.

I can go to Amazon and buy a.

    But my question is:

    1. do I need a disk with Windows7? (I have no cause).

The computer would have a partition on the hard disk with it.

    2. I did the DVD of recovery before it crashed, as the system image on the external hard drive. This will be enough to reinstall?

or I have to order DVD of Win7?

    3. How can I order the DVD if I need one? I wanted to call HP and ask, but they will supposedly, charge me to ask, because I'm out of warranty.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

To answer your questions in order.

    1. everything you need to buy is a new hard drive.

    2. you can use your recovery DVDs to reload the operating system on the new HARD drive, or the best option would probably be to load the Disk Image as this will reload Windows in the exact state wherever it was when the image was created.

    3. If you ever need to, you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

  • Impossible to uninstall CS6 on broken hard drive in MacBook pro

My hard drive on my MacBook Pro 2 years, beat and no longer works. I bought initially at Oregon State University. I backed everything up, but the only problem is that I can't uninstall Design & Web Premium CS6 from the hard drive of the laptop is broken. I replaced the hard drive with a new one on the Apple Store in Fukuoka City today (I can provide the reception if required). I intend to buy a new computer someday. However, if I install the repaired CS6 on my laptop, it will be counted as a second activation. Is it possible to get an increase on the number of licenses on an exceptional basis? I spent so much money by buying the Design & Web Premium CS6, I won't go to waste.

When you have a non-functional computer and cannot turn off

Don't forget to request ONLY activation support set your number of activations

    Hello

305 error code is a failure of the complete (Full) disk Self Test (DST) and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

  • Broken hard drive - new installation (3 license?)

A few years back, I bought 3 ACS. And istalled it on my iMac and a laptop-I used my two licenses. Now the hard drive on my iMac has been replaced because it was broken after the tipping of the table.

Question: can I register online without losing my license? Adobe recognizes my iMac?

    Thanks, mat

The key word is 'enable '. You can have two copies of the Creative Suite enabled at the same time. Probably, you will have no problem since you don't have the ability to disable a drive that has been damaged. If there is a problem, the activation dialog box will give you a phone number you can call to activate your iMac.

  • Can I use my old external hard drive after replacing SSDS?

I recently bought a replacement of SSD for my hard drive.  A friend suggested I have get a box for the old man and keep it in a backup or extra.  I was wondering how difficult that would be, and I would be able to run applications from her?

    -Matt H.

Yes, your friend is good, just buy a USB box for this and then you, it's like any other external hard drive. You can get these 10 pounds and more, but you get what you pay for.

Simply open the screw in the naked reader, plug, close the case and you are done. It's very simple to do.

  • Broken hard drive and no Windows 8 sticker

    Hello

I have a Toshiba laptop, * the HDD is broken * and when I bought did not have recovery disk. Nobody told me that I had to make a copy on the disc when the phone still worked.

Now I have a new hard drive but does not have the recovery partition and LICENSE No. STICKER for WINDOWS 8!

    * What is the solution which gives Toshiba for these cases? * because I'm not ready to pay more than 30 for a CD that should come into the computer, and I will not pay a new license of Windows 8, because when I bought the computer and I paid!

    > Nobody told me that I had to make a copy on the disc when the phone still worked.
Please do not be angry on me, but this isn't an excuse for your problem. Each laptop model comes with manuals of the user document. It is also saved on your laptop computer in PDF format.
It is clearly describes what recovery image is and how you can save it and create recovery media.
I don't know where you bought your laptop, but if you bought in some electronic stores I think you should talk with your dealer and tell him that you are not satisfied with their expert advice.

You're right about the license. With your computer laptop, you bought OS and valid license but the product key from the sticker can be used for the activation of the operating system if you are using the Microsoft installation disc. This product key is up to the original recovery image that you got with your laptop.

On the one hand, I understand, but you must also understand that, generally speaking, it's your fault. In these cases, toshiba offers just the solution and you can get the original image of recovery for your laptop model. It costs 30 euros, but with this money, you'll get bones, all necessary drivers, tools and utilities that need not be configured. Maybe two hours after you have perfectly install OS with all the necessary drivers.

How much is Microsoft version if you do not want to order the Toshiba recovery image?

    SSDS use the SATA interface.

There is none of the hard drives SSD IDE on the market.

  • HP Envy 15 t-j100: broken HARD drive zero insertion force (ZIF)

    Hello

Hoping someone can provide me with information on where to find the small strain relief for my ZIF HDD connector. When going on a failing HARD drive, the clip on the restraint ZIF connector broke and is no longer usable.

Have been unable to locate this part on the web. Have seen some forum info (not HP) indicating that the motherboard should be replaced. Since the little clip ZIF simply snaps into the socket, I should be able to replace just the restraint plastic little clip without having to replace the motherboard...

Photo showing part I'm trying to locate. (see area surrounded by a red circle in the picture)

Thanks in advance for the help.
