BSOD on install of Windows 7 after hard drive crash

I have a HP Dv7 with Intel i7 and 8 GB memory. About 3 years.

Recently, I lost my hard drive to a physical failure. I bought a 120 GB SSD as the principal and a 1 TB drive 7200 RPM as the secondary to be replaced. I ordered the HP restore kit to reinstall Windows 7, but each installation stops at "loading drivers" step and gives me a BSOD. I tried to remove the SSD drive and using only the hard drive, but the same results. Also tried to do a clean install of Windows 7 with an ISO image to a bootable USB key. The same problem. I also tried swapping the primary/secondary locations for readers.

Nothing I have tried seems to work. I'm desperate for a solution! Why would I get a BSOD on a reinstallation of the software factory?

I am trying install Windows 7 without SP1 to see if that works, but have no chance. What else can I try? What I have to install Windows 8 to work with the new hard drive or SSD? »

I tried to restore 4 times (3 hours + per attempt). I tried the clean install of Windows 7 SP1 at least 10 times, each of them do not reach the exact spot. Windows won't INSTALL, so that steps can be taken?

As I posted earlier, I had problems with installing Windows 7 on my laptop HP Pavilion Dv7 after replacing a hard drive defective. I ordered the kit of training materials ($60) and the operating system of restoration kit (essentially Windows 7 and drivers) on a 4 disc set. I paid the extra money for all accelerated for me.

After you have installed a 120 GB SSD and the new 1 TB drive 7200 RPM, I tried to install the operating system using the DVD restore I ordered. Each installation took about 4 hours and each of the 3 times (i.e. 12 hours!) installation has failed at the end of the installation process. Then I downloaded a clean version of Windows 7 ISO and burned a bootable USB an attempt installs another 15, which also failed at the end of the installation process.

In desperation, I contacted HP support and was informed that I had to pay for technical support. I must say that I was really disappointed by HP and HP «each incident» support I spent $59 and 3 hours talk with some idiots in the new Delhli, who accompanied me through a few tests of BIOS of base no matter what 3-year-old could have understood, I sent them a picture of the BSOD and error code, and they arrived at their 'solution' to send me my laptop to HP for them to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system for the pittance of $200 and 7 to 9 days!

I refused their generous offer to relieve myself of the burden of $ 200 in my wallet and took the laptop to Fry when I bought it. After 15 minutes of discussion about my question, the tech told me that I needed to install the Intel drivers during the installation of Windows 7. He popped a USB key containing the Intel drivers, I've needed, continued with the installation of Windows 7, and I was back at home with a working machine within the hour. It cost me $35. A BARGAIN, given that HP, the company that BUILT my laptop was completely distraught about this problem and the only solution was to deprive me of my laptop for 9 days and during this time, charge me $200.

So to all who read this, please pay NOT for the HP "per incident" support. They are slightly educated idiots who know no more about the HP product than your typical 3 yr old child. For example, they suggested that the HP laptop in my possession was "very sensitive" and I wouldn't be able to put 'any hard disk that was not exactly to the same specification as that was in it from the factory'.  Idiots.

I you need to re - install Windows 7 on your laptop, visit the Intel website and download "floppy" (i.e. not the executable versions which self install) versions of their drivers for your laptop, load on a USB stick and when begins the installation of Windows 7 where it asks if you want to load the drivers, select the drivers on your USB key and installation will be smooth.

Again, how is it possible that HP and their support forums are not aware of the problem or the solution? Seriously. This is probably the last HP I buy. Just exhausting and annoying to deal with this.

Craig

PS - My HP Pavillion DV7 is smoking quickly with the new solid-state drive and updated 7200 RPM secondary drive. * beep * thing boots like 20 seconds and Photoshop load almost INSTANTLY. Incredible.

    Y at - it a recovery for this model cd? or can say smb, how can I install WinXP on this model

    Hello

    You are right that you must install the first RAID driver before installing the operating system.
    If you have installed the RAID the installation Win driver will ask you to format the HARD drive.
    In this case, do NOT format the HARD drive because the RAID driver will remove and it is not possible to install the Windows XP.

    Now your question Win98; is on the page of the Toshiba driver you will find not all drivers for Win98 for this device and I assume that you need a particular driver for the CD/DVD drive to activate this device.

    I give you a warning regarding the use of the WinXP

    PS: On the Toshiba driver page, you will find the installation instructions. Follow this guide!

  • Reinstall Vista upgrade Express of Business to ultimate after hard drive crash

    When I bought my first computer at Dell, it had Windows Vista Business installed on the computer.  Shortly after the purchase, I bought an upgrade on Amazon.com to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.  I remember that when I upgraded, a file has been downloaded and executed on the computer that has provided the additional functionality of Vista Ultimate.  The file is stored in my service digital locker.  I think I have the product key that was used after the upgrade (it of in my notes, but does not match the original product code which is on the side of my computer).  In any case, the hard drive crashed and I reinstalled windows vista professional, on the recovery provided by Dell CD.  However, I can't seem to find a way to present a new request the ultimate improvement to the computer (it only gives me vista professional).  Now that the digital locker is gone, I can't recover this file and emails informing her service digital locker went went to an old email account I'm not "check very often (I located the email I was trying to research on mine)."

  • Reinstalling after hard drive crash

    My son's hard drive crashed. We have installed a new drive is in any way to get windows vista comes with the purchase of a new copy.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • What I have to buy a new version of windows, because my hard drive crashed?
    My computer hard drive crashed and had to be replaced. After replaceing I, of course, lost my program of windows 7, it has been installed at the factory. I don't have a DVD. Do I have to buy a new version of windows 7 to 8 or is there a place to reload windows?
    You can opt for a recovery disc from the manufacturer that will put your system to the way it was when it is new, or you can download the version of Windows 7 which shows on the COA sticker and use the code too...
    Make sure that the COA key code is readable before you download the ISO, because without it, the ISO has no value. You should also keep a note of the key code in a safe place.
    Select the version on your COA sticker...
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 - U ISO
    English x 86: X 17 - 59463.iso
    English x 64: X 17 - 59465.iso
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 - U ISO
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 - U ISO
    English x 86: X 17 - 58996.iso
    English x 64: X 17 - 58997.iso
    You will need to convert the download on a bootable DVD...
    Also note that the second method leave you that to install all the updates of Windows, drivers for devices etc.
    You must do this installation, utilities and antivirus programs
  • How to install windows 7 on a laptop after hard drive crash?
    I have a G60-235DX laptop where the hard drive is going bad.  It came with Windows Vista installed and then has been upgraded via the program from windows 7 to windows 7.  The hard drive is bad and now only works when it feels like it.  I have a replacement hard drive on the road and want to be able to reinstall windows 7 without having to pay anything.  Is it possible to do?  I don't like on the files on the computer, only the operating system.  Can I do something?  Thanks in advance!
    Yes, the disc is a disc 'upgrade', but you should not need to upgrade to Vista. According to "SUPERSITE of Thurrott", you should be able to install multimedia upgrade without a previous installation and activate it. The key seems to penetrate the Windows product key, that the installation is completed, instead of first application. Please try this and let us know how it goes.
    Hi, I just bought a defective HP Pavilion P6 known.   After receiving and checking, it appears that the hard drive is faulty.
    The machine does not start, I have activated POST messages and now a screen message saying that 'no boot disk was detected, or the drive failed.    The DPS self test fails with code 7.
    I disabled the secure boot and can boot from a CD of Linux, so I know that, basically, the computer is still alive
    My question is, once I have comes from replacing the hard drive, I can get a copy of replacement windows to HP or do I buy one out of the copy of the Windows Tablet (or install Linux)?
    I was told that the machine is two years old and just out of warranty.
    Thank you!
    If out of warranty, you will most likely need to buy a set of HP or a partner of HP recovery disk. The good thing is that it's a reasonable price.
  • Reinstalling windows 8 after hard drive failure
    Let's say I bought a laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled (I'm considering the purchase Lenovo Yoga 13)
    and then one of the following things occur:
    -my hard drive dies
    -I want to repartition the hard disk and format it
    -I want to buy a new hard drive and replace the existing one
    The question: what is the safe way to reinstall the OEM of Windows 8, which comes with the laptop on a clean
    (no restore partition) hard drive?
    Here, the assumption is that I start with a laptop from work 'by default'.
    Some information:
    I read some topics on these forums and my current understanding is that the activation key for OEM Windows 8 is stored somewhere in the BIOS/UEFI and can be removed by windows installed. I'm fine with that. Where can I get the installation media in this case? In the Microsoft store I was informed (by a technician) that I would essentially need to purchase an OEM Windows 8. Certainly, I hope this gentleman, I was talking to does not know his business. I think know that by buying the windows laptop I also buy the license for this particular Windows OEM installed on it (related to hardware and all).
    Hello
    After looking around a bit, I can't find no details on a recovery device at all either. Only something about a picture "Recovery."
    The problem is that if your hard drive is a replacement or reformatted, it seems to me that the image would be useless because the software required to load it would be gone.
    Unless the 'Image' would contain the necessary software to load, and it's doubtful...
    Thus,.
    I would suggest picking up Acronis image, preferably of the Plus Pack version, or something similar...
    I tried a number of programs, including the most free, image and Acronis seems to be the better (and faster).
    There are a few programs that can detect that they have been refilled from an image and require reinstallation... That almost never seems to happen with Acronis images for some reason any.
    You can often find it for sale cheap and sometimes free after rebate, if you want to wait...
    It compresses the Image, she creates and takes much less space as a result...
    I have a 128 GB SSD, responsible for programs that absorb about 60 GB... Acronis compresses the image to 20 GB.
    It reloads the Image on ANY HDD\SSD that is large enough... 60GB for example.
    You can Image the entire drive or individual partitions... In your case, I recommend both as soon as you get the computer. Just to cover all bases.
    The only withdrawal to it is that you will need an external HARD drive or a Flash capacity...
    I make the Images of new OS every time I do a great time of change or put to date. In case of problem, 15 minutes to make a new image is nothing compared to having to start again.
    I currently have about 10 images to win 8 since I installed it taking about 180 GB...
    My understanding is that the installation of Acronis CD is also bootable... which is when you want to use it anyway. I can't confirm that at this time because my bootable CD was burned by the installed version of Acronis and I can't find the original disc to test it.
  • HP G60-235: upgrading to Windows 7 after hard drive failure
    First of all I would like to say that I hope that it is in the right part of the Forum, if it not is not please let me know.
    I have a G60-235 HP running Vista.
    My hard drive has failed and that I had tested and it is unusable. I replaced the hard drive with an SSD and don't have an operating system.
    I can't get into the Bios and there may be some info that is needed, f, so please let me know and I'll post it.
    Is - this here anyway to check to see if my HP can handle Windows 7? I downloaded the Windows 7 advisory.
    I also looked for the evaluation version of Windows 7. I could not find. The link I followed by searching showed me the evaluation for 8.1 version.
    I would not buy the full version and find out it does not work, but I also prefer to go back to Vista is possible.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Your model must run Windows 7 well. There are even Win 7 drivers posted at HP. There are 3 different models of G60 235 (CA, DX, WM) listed, but this is an example:
  • Activation after hard drive crash
    I have recently updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7.  No problems with the installation, but shortly after I had a hard disk crash.  I reinstalled the copy of windows 7, but now I have problems with activation because the version I bought originally was for upgrades.  I need to reinstall Vista and then upgrade to windows 7 for this key to work?  Looks like a lot of trouble to use a product that I already paid for.
    If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
    How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:
    Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
    When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
    Click on drive Options
    Select the disc/s click on Delete
    Click new
    Click on apply
    Click OK
    Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation
    Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.
    When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer
    Click on properties
    Scroll down to the Windows Activation
    Click the link x days before activation.
    Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.
    Enter the product key
    Click next
    Select the Activation of the phone
    Click Next when you enter your key page
    Select your country
    Click Next, call the number listed
    Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.
    Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent
    They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it
    Click next to complete the activation.
    However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.
    15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.
    So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.
