Bug sequence editor - dynamically rename steps

I discovered a problem with the 4.2.1 pecular the Editor display sequence of steps that should be called dynamically at run time. It might be present in other versions, but I have no way to check. I had this experience with Windows XP and Windows 7.

I've attached an example which is very easy to reproduce the problem. It does not matter what Configuration of list stage you are in.

(1) create a new sequence

(2) create a step declaration type

3) switch to the view of Expressions within the parameters of the step > component property

(4) in the Expression before, type RunState.Step.Name = Str (Find (RunState.Step.Name, "t"))

* In theory, when you perform this step it will rename it to the position where it finds first a 't', 1.

(5) (while in the view of Expressions within the parameters of the step > property pane), the step of copy and paste several times.

(6) TestStand must lock the right for you. If not, stick a few times or cycle (quickly) between different steps see two.

It is not only limited to the Expression, and it seems to happen less, if you view the step settings > expressions pane, but it always seems to lock to the right. If you are in another mode (which does not appear the expression) it seems not to happen

I guess what happens is when TestStand attempts to check the expression to find errors is to get caught in an infinite loop if you recycle too quickly. However, I don't know how to work around this problem, other than slowly of switching between the steps if I consult their expressions with the concept of recursive naming.

I would like to know if this has been documented before, if it has been resolved, and if there is a better workaound.

Thank you

Mike powers

Control of the expressions in the expression of the syntax controls is performed asynchronously in another thread when the control of the expression containing the phrase is visible (i.e. the parameters of the expression for the expression before in your use case, are active in the step settings pane). You hit a blocking problem that has been fixed in TestStand 2012 (number 287875).

You can work around this problem, either avoiding having the control of the visible expression while making the dough, or, in the case of your words at least. You can rewrite it as follows:

RunState.Step.Name = Str (Find (NameOf (RunState.Step), "t"))

The deadlock occurs for your particular situation due to the use of the API in the expressions for an argument to Find(). NameOf() is another way to get the name of an object without using the API in expressions.

Hope this helps,

-Doug

  • Shift at the choice of the steps sequence editor

    Hello all-

    I run into a few problems these last time with the sequence editor (TS 4.1 / LV 8.6) where by selecting some of the steps will be literally up to 30 seconds to load (instead of dry normal 1 or 2)... it seems to affect niswitch associated steps most, but virtually all the measures seem to have a good time. It seems that this situation is aggravated if I shift-select many steps at a time - for example if I take 4 steps, he literally will pick up for 2 straight minutes before I can change the options for stage. Seqedit.exe takes 100% of the CPU during this time as well.

    I will add that I have in fact two identical configurations, and this affects only one of them...

    I think it's safe to assume that the sequence in fact probably one editor kind of research or something, but I expect that once the VI is loaded into memory (say niswitch.llb/connect channels), it would be fine for the rest of the time I spend editing... any advice on what exactly it is?

    other than this taking a lot of time, nothing is technically "broken" and my sequences work very well, but my development time is crazy now because I spend 80% of my time sitting to wait for the spring sequence editor to life!

    If your screws have I/O controls connected to the connector component, you could be hitting the same problem described in this thread http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&thread.id=23845.  You may need to patch LabVIEW 8.6.

  • Is there a way to reset displays step status for iterations of the successive loop (NOR with active follow-up sequence editor)

    I'm running a sequence in the sequence editor (single-pass) with active follow-up.  I find that when I get a section in my sequence loop, the displayed State of stage starts in white, is preparing for the first passage through each step of the loop, and the steps are displayed to this status, unless / until modified in a loop later.  I would prefer that the status of step back empty at the beginning of each iteration of the loop and then get / displayed when the step is completed (yet) in order to better show the progress through the wrist strap.  Is there a way to do this?

    Thank you Ray!

  • Rename Step.Name when editing step

    Hello

    I have a few libraries of SequenceFile I like to improve learn more easy to use.

    Most of my libraries use parameters to descripe what needs to be done.

    I realized that often things to do twice.

    As a first step, you select a StepType SequenceCall and give it a name. Normally he descripes

    What does sequence. Then you must set your values of parameters. In a lot of

    business Step.Name and settings when it is in relationship. There are a few possbilities to change the Step.Name

    during the execution. But what about editime?

    I guess I need to create my own StepType which is derived from Ni SequenceCall StypType. I think that is not the

    major problem. The main question is: is it possible to rename my needs and force it to update in the sequence editor

  • Change the folder of default reports from outside the sequence editor

    Hello

    I want to set the path to the folder of the regular reports of TS (xml) outside the sequence editor, i.e. in a txt file. I would like to load this value in the sequence or the performance of model sequential (to read this file). Play with what I achieved only copy reports to different my folder both outside. No one knows how to correctly do this operation?

    See you soon,.

    K

    I have accomplished this setting the path of the report dynamically, using the ReportOptions reminder in my process model.

    I had set the following report options:

    Parameters.ReportOptions.DirectoryType = "SpecificDirectory".

    Parameters.ReportOptions.Directory = 'C:\\Program Files\\Functional Test\\Reports\\' + Parameters.UUT_PN

    Parameters.ReportOptions.BaseName = 'report '.

    Parameters.ReportOptions.UseFormatForExtension = TRUE

    Parameters.ReportOptions.Extension = «»

    Parameters.ReportOptions.ReportFilePath = «»

    Parameters.ReportOptions.NewFileNameForEachUUT = TRUE

    Parameters.ReportOptions.AddTimeAndDateToFileName = TRUE

    Parameters.ReportOptions.GeneratePath = TRUE

    arameters. ReportOptions.Format = "html".

    The second entry above, I set the directory based on the number of game USE which is analyzed by the operator.  So in your case, you will need to set the "Parameters.ReportOptions.Directory" item based on a path read you a text file.   According to the structure of your text, file, get the path of the report (from file) could be done in a few differnet ways...

  • How to disable ToolTips in the TestStand sequence editor

    Hello

    is there a way to disable these bubbles villain in the TestStand sequence editor.

    For example, when I want to spend a FileGlobal which is a string that contains a number and step requires the numerical value, I need to use Val (FileGlobals.NumberString) and answers

    as soon as I write ' Val ("a ToolTip appears and tells me what I can do. But so far, not the worst problem in the development process it may happen, that I have to change the FileGlobal

    and that's the point, when ToolTips turn evil.

    I'm starting to fix the names of the variables in the steps and each time this nasty giant bubble. It is not only unnecessary, but also incredibly annoying at the moment.

    I really hope that there is a parameter that could help me or that developer NOR esteem team to add the posibility to disable these tooltips.

    PS: maybe not completely necessary to disable ToolTips, but perhaps to make their tiny and if the programmer is really interested in the content that could be extended by a click.

    I use TestStand 2013 and TestStand 2011.

    Thanks in advance

    Manfred

    I think what you describe is the function "Tip." You can stop these appear automatically.

    The setting is located in the Station Options > Preferences > Expression editing Options

    My screenshots are from 2014, but it's the same on 2013. Not sure about 2011.

  • Settings pane in the stage custom sequence editor

    I'm trying to implement a custom user interface that is similar to the examples given by NEITHER. What I miss, however, is the part of the parameters of the step. I can change the parameters of the step of the example with the Edit menu > settings step dialog box, but I would have a section on the window, similar to what you see in the full version. I thought it would be as easy as inserting a component to insert, but it is not... Did anyone have an example of the implementation of this component?

    Hi paicolman,

    At this time the property pane of the step in the sequence editor is built in editor sequence and, therefore, only available in the sequence editor not in the custom operator interface.

    The reason why one in the sequence editor looks different is because it is a more compact design, so it could easily fit into the sequence as a component editor and not another pop-up window. The OI is a pop-up window, so it shouldn't be so small and compact.

    If you want to change the step properties dialog box, you will need to completely build your own dialog box and change the reminder that connects the kind of command. It would be quite difficult to implement, so using the default dialog box is recommended.

  • Fonts in Windows 10 sequence editor

    Hi all

    I hope that it is a question with a simple answer. I search nothing doesn't.

    I just upgraded to Windows 7 to 10 Windows on my development PC. I TestStand 2014 and TestStand 2010 SP1 to support existing applications, and both exhibit this behavior:

    Many fonts display correctly in the sequence editor, but the majority of them is annoyingly huge. (See attached screenshot)

    I tried the things:

    • Verification of the dialog box options of the sequence editor
    • Configuration of Windows properly. (No other applications don't have this problem, and our IT Department confirms it not miss anything obvious on the side of the BONE)
    • Edition SeqEdit.xml in \appdata\local\National Instruments\\SeqEdit.xml.  When I change the settings of police here they mysteriously get indented at the launch of the sequence editor of.

    Does anyone know where these parameters from and how to modify them for a correct display?

    (I feel really embarrassed if it's something simple)

    Thank you

    Jim

    Well, that's pretty funny.

    My cell phone rang, I would get up walk outside while you take the call. I have locked my PC and walked away.

    Five minutes later I came back and ostensibly, my PC crashed and has since restarted. (I found this out by watching the Windows event logs)

    Curiously, after the accident, my fonts appear normal in TestStand.

    I don't know what has changed – it could be one of the countless things, but it is "fixed" now. I wish I knew why.

    In the future, if anyone has questions of police, the solution is clearly to cause the OS to crash.

    Thanks for your help, Daniel.

  • How to get taken time stated in the IO in the sequence editor?

    Hi all

    Is it possible to get the indicated default time NI Semiconductor Test Operator Interface OR in the sequence editor?

    Are there any expression in sequence editor that can get this time taken in the operator Interface?

    How can I include this time taken in the STDF generated by the transformation in the result sequence editor?

    Thank you

    Socket's operating time is stored in the TestResultsPropertyObject. To access this object is via the MainSequenceResult parameter in the Plugin model - USE fact entrypoint. The TS. TotalTime property records the total amount of time that required to run your test code MainSequence recall. It comes to the value included in the default reports.

    The OI shows the average decision-making time of execution of the whole lot, gets it from the Manager of semiconductor modules.

    I hope this helps.

  • Error launching Sequence Editor

    Hi Ppl,

    I installed NI TestStand 4.1, after activation when open sequence editor I got the following error.

    When I tried the same error. I found this link in OR.

    He suggested to open the Version TestStand selector and make the active version.

    But when I open the Version TestStand selector, I get the following error.

    Please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Sissi-

    Try to uninstall the Package and then reinstall it redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2005. You probably have to install the service pack for her as well. You can download the installer for the package here:

    32-bit computer

    Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 (x 86)

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x 86)

    64-bit machine

    Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 (x 64)

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x 64)

    Once you have re-installed the Package redistributable Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, then try running the Version selector. If it starts successfully, then try to make the latest version of TestStand Active. If it is successfully activated, and then try running this version of TestStand sequence editor.

    I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out.

  • Unable connect to the sequence editor of

    Hello

    I seem to have something broken in my version of TestStand 4.2. When I run the sequence Editor starts in the logged out State.  When I click on Login... nothing happens.

    I think this may have something to do with process templates - I had installed a updated the SequenceModel.seq which has been altered by a co-developer and re-installed the original on it back because the updated process template wanted to access the components that I don't have on my computer (which is a sql database).  Anyway, since I did it, I can't have the logon dialog box to display.

    TIA

    Ron

    It is the reminder of the frontend, not the process model, which is responsible for implementing the connection/disconnection process.

    There should be two versions of the FrontEndCallbacks.seq file on your computer as follows:

    (1) in \TestStand 2010\Components\Callbacks\FrontEnd, this version here must have a sequence called LoginLogout

    (2) in \Components\Callbacks\FrontEnd, this version must be an empty sequence file.

    In addition, make sure that you do not have the station defined option to automatically open a session to the user of Windows System.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Charles

    I think Colum means you must click on the item in Tools menu at the top of the screen. Not the tools at the bottom of the Explorer of RoboHelp pane tab.
