Building PC CS5 tips

Hello

Currently, I plan a PC version to run CS5 mainly for the web and graphic design in Photoshop and Illustrator. I have all the production, and I am preparing to enter in the first and AE so I am all of that into consideration with my build. It is absolutely not a video editing build high-end.

So, here is what I have so far:

I7 - 960

Cooler Master CM690 MKII advanced cases

ASUS P6X58D-e: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0 GB/s, 3 - Way SLI

6 GB Kingston Hyper-X SORT-DDR3 1600 MHz 3 x 2 GB

SSD crucial RealSSD C300 64 GB

500 GB WD Caviar Black WD5002AALX

1 GB GeForce GTS450

Corsair 750W PSU TX series

Win 7 64 bit

I have a couple of hard drives, I'll probably add to the system

Any thoughts? My original plan was to a Phenom ii x 6 1090 t., but to read here, it seems, intel is the way to go. Too bad that I always had of the AMD, I really notice the difference? I am currently facing on an Athlon 64 2.0 Ghz

I don't really have a clue on graphics cards, up to now, I used very cheap budget cards. I've read on the Nvidia cuda stuff recently though, that's how I got to the GTS450.

Any advice much appreciated.

Overall, it seems that the right components and the GTS 450 is a nice map too. Not excessive and the consequence TI that your power supply is OK too. You had opted for a more capable card like the 480/580, you might need to go to the version of 850W PSU.

  • X 6 Phenom 1055 t / GT 240 build for CS5?

    I build a PC for CS5 production as a fort/sidejob hobby video.

Putting aside all the other standard parts of a PC, would be an AMD Phenom X 6 1055 t. (2.8 ghz) with an nVidia GT 240 1 GB Gigabyte perform well enough in Premiere Pro to help me get started?

I thought that the GT 240 would be able to use the MPE enough to help the processor a bit and a six hearts, while AMD, would be great for editing.

I understand that Intel is the "way forward", but I like the idea of a more affordable six-core which will be probably more extensible, especially when the Bulldozer out. It's less strong incompatibility reasons do not go with AMD for a CS5 version.

    The comments appreciated.

If you are willing to invest in a CPU, you will be penalized heavy performance and will be easily outclassed by what whether Intel, go ahead.

For video editing, AMD is far behind Intel, because of missing SSE extensions, which are widely used for encoding. So the short Advisor is: No.

  • Is it possible to build an application with CS5.5 which can run in the old iPod

    Hello

Anyone know if there is a way to build an application with flash CS5.5 which can run in the old iPod?, as with CS5?

Impossible to install every IPA I build with CS5.5 in my iPod 8 GB with iOS 4.2 and before with CS5, I could install all OPI it and test.

The lack of support for the 8 GB iPod would be limiting for the market and sales...

Is there some settings to build the IPA for older iPods?

    Thank you

An easy solution for your need must keep a copy of CS5 installed and use it to support older devices. A harder solution is to keep a copy of the PFI of CS5 and use the command line to compile applications with CS5.5. You will not be able to perform one of the novelties of CS5.5, and you need to manually change the descriptor XML to ensure that it is compatible with PFI.

Like I said, keeping CS5 autour would be the easiest solution.

  • InDesign CS5 and CS6 scripts changes/incompatibilities

I'm new to scripting InDesign and need to write a JavaScript very complex for InDesign using the Toolbox. My concerns are if CS5/5.5 users will be able to run the script written for CS6. He knows incompatibilities with different versions? If Yes, where can I find a document to compare the differences. I will probably need support the CS5 and CS6 (and anything in between), so a possible solution would be to build for CS5, but if I do, will I'm missing out on all the new key features of CS6?

There are differences of 1 DOM version to another and they can and will break your script, if you have not designed to handle. For example:

If you want to use script like me labels (because they are awesome) the following will break if you use CS5 or later:

    app.activeDocument.pageItems.item("myLabel").remove();

So, you have to force the DOM to V6.0. But when you do so be sure to come back to the original version after you're done or you can create more problems. This can be done like this:

    app.scriptPreferences.version = 6.0; // CS4's DOM version
    app.activeDocument.pageItems.item("myLabel").remove();
    app.scriptPreferences.version = 10.2; // Current CC DOM version

It is very annoying (for me at least), so I wrap functions that require DOM changes with a customized version changer to handle this for me. Regarding the list of incompatibilities? Not sure, maybe someone here has one, I know that jongware has a website with all the DOM password 1 version to another. This can be found here:

You must delete the files in your home preferences ~/Library/Preferences directory

~ means home dir. This is how the path usually looks like: "Macintosh HD/users/username/Library/Preferences".

    How to open the directory:

Select in the Menu Finder: go->go to folder and write ~/Library/Preferences and Finder opens the correct folder for you.

The ~ (tilde) is an essential part of the address. Without the tilde, you open the library in your system drive. This folder does not contain the user's preferences.

In fact, the library in homedir is now hidden in Lion. The menu is probaply the best way to get there.

And in the ~/Library/Preferences-dossier remove all the adobe-containing files and folders.

  • How to align in the middle of the screen flash content in the browser?

I'm currently building a cs5.5 using AS2.0 flash site. One of the pages is 1024px wide by height of 1536. I want the display to only show that the first half of the screen and then the user must scroll down using the browser scroll bar to see the second half of the screen.

Here is the html code. I changed the "overflow" hidden to auto so that the site is drop-down. However when I saw the Web site in the browser, it is aligned to the left. Even if below (highlighted in red) it says "medium". This isn't what I want, I want the site me aligned in the Middle, so that there is a border of hand and on the other Web site. I tried several things to fix but all without success. Could someone please help. Let me know if you need more information.

  • Download error during the download for iPad

I took publications that I created on the pre-release program and have installed the new tools on CS5.

I managed to import my publication and I can watch online on adobe.com, as well as in the Folio Builder in CS5.

I did a preview in CS5 and it makes them all right there and I can see it on the PC.

    Did I miss a step?

When I launch the content on the ipad and the connection Viewer, I see a reference to my publication. When I press download I get the following error

    Error during download

Unable to start the download of the file is missing or invalid

Patience. This is Apple we're talking about.

You can test it on the Viewer from the office, but that is certainly not as good as get it on the iPad.

  • flash debugger / flash generator problem

I have a problem for the debugger in Flash builder to work.

Also, I am familiar with settings ACtiveX etc.

Hi, now since you need the debugger for Flash Builder 4, here are two links that have the info. As I am not familiar with the programs you use, I didn't give you a link and it may be that bad. I thot you would be better able than me to decide what site you need to look at.

I hope that these are what you need. Debuggers & Builds and CS5 etc are above my head :-) Not too help with these programs.

See what you think, and if it's not useful, I'll get one more time. (I generally find what I'm looking for as long as I know what is :-))

  • Possible advantage i7-860 vs i7-930: 16 GB of memory compared to 12 GB?

    People,

I'm scary on a new build for CS5. I searched and read post after post and try to avoid cluttering up the jury with redundant threads. I'm quite new here and I would like to do my part by using before messages first. Many thanks to injury for his guides and others also.

My question today does not seem to have been addressed, about the advantage of having 16 GB on the LGA-1156 platform to 12 GB on the LGA-1366. We can skip the intro and go directly to the red text if this post seem you too long.

At this point, I gave up the fight to keep my Phenom X 4 system, especially since I have a Canon T2i which produces files in format AVCHD (thanks to all for the age of enlightenment on this issue). I realize also that other programs in CS5 are not accelerated as a body with its MEP. Therefore, it makes sense to make the jump to Intel for a platform of editing at the moment, if I want to use my AVCHD clips to straight-up without transcoding (which is something I can try a little before I sell my AMD bench). A fan of AMD, or like me a person with an AMD system, is not likely to see the situation change. Even the core 6 AMD 1090 t. does not appear huge gains in the benchmarks at the beginning.

I teach, and what got me on AMD has been the cost of the platform. Card mother and the DDR2 memory for added savings that I put four systems in my math class. A curiosity to try and keep my setup AMD for CS5 has to realize that I could get out my mother DDR2 with 16 GB memory (4 x 4 GB per module slots) max and fill all the slots for the performance memory twin in all modules. He had me wondering if the advantage of more memory could compensate for my slower CPU. Probably not, I now think that I should always empty my Phenom X 4 for Intel platform.

The interesting thing is that this consideration of memory 16/12 GB of the LGA-1156 versus platforms LGA-1366. It seems likely that if harm can live with 12 GB and hit the top of the benchmark with it, 12 GB sounds pretty good to me. But still, it would be nice to have the extra 4 GB.

There may be a compromise that bridges the best of both worlds?

The i7-860 use motherboards with 4 locations of memory. Newegg has the G.Skill DDR3 16 GB memory kit with timings of 7-7-7-18 $600 (good price, good timing). When purchased as part of a combo, you can get a decent LGA SATA 6/USB 3.0 - card mother 1156 for around $100. I love this approach, like paying $200 for a card mother just gripes me. (Which is probably stupid, because I think that if I intend using my CS5 Production Premium and my video equipment at their full capacity, I need to put together a platform that is not a bottleneck.) Why get hung up on the difference of $300 - $400 in platform when I have thousands in the rest of the things?)

On the otherhand, if you're not saving if possible all will crawl out-of-hand quickly...

So, what do you say? A 12 GB i7-930 platform, simply because of the memory? one prefer an i7-860 16 GB On system would see a generalized difference be it? The platform i7-930 has an advantage on the i7-860 in a dimension that could exceed the extra memory? Or don't Pr as a memory ranging from 12 to 16 GB make a noticeable difference in ease of use program, as during treatment, such that small loss in other areas paled in comparison? I could live with slightly longer render times, etc. If additional memory may make the program more accessible. From what I've read here-n-yon, ranging up to 16 GB makes a difference. But what kind of difference? Game change?

I noticed there is no one i7-860 of anywhere near the top of the PPBM chart, which gives me pause. Also, I know about the update of the X 58 ' Gulftown 6 core CPU boards. But I'm going to worrry on this subject after I see how my first rig - I shoot short clips to school and that you don't have to change the length of the films.

Bottom line-anyone here, if the construction of a new rig, would use the i7-860 on the i7-930 simply because the 860 uses a motherboard with 4 memory slots, so granting of the advantage of the 16 vs.12 GB memory? I am not 24GO in x 58 ' on board without worrying, so the choice is firming rather well. Slower platform to 16 GB resisted faster platform with 12 GB of memory.

The nature of Premiere Pro and its needs to answer the question, or the answer fell to General Assembly as render times, etc.? Someone has cause to think that the extra 4 GB will do Pr humming better in some important aspects?

We will relax and consider for a moment what type of disk activities take place during a normal editing session:

    1 OS access

2 maintenance tasks made to processes and services

    3. access to the files of Tenp

    4. access to the Page files

and forget immediately because there is not that you can do about them, apart from the reduction in the number of services and processes, in other words the system setting and increasing memory.

Now what remains during an editing session is:

    5. access source material

    6. access to the files indexed, consistent and spikes in the media cache

    7. access to the files of pointer in the media cache database

    8 temp file access

    9. access to the preview files

    10 PR files access

    11. access to the plugin files

    12 service Manager access

    13. access to the QT service

    14 dynamic access Link

    15 etc.

And in the meantime internal Windows continues. If the old adage that each disc of modern day is fast enough to stream video, then that in itself is correct, can become incorrect if you have enough video streams, with effects or transitions. The duration of the time line is not really relevant here.

There is no clear cut answer that you are looking for a raid, too much depends on your style of editing and workflow. But in general, I recommend raid when you have only 3 or 4 discs (including start/OS drive) but advise for the raid when you use disks of 5 or more. Adobe forums: no RAID or RAID, this is the...

With a limited number of available disks, raid0 is the only option you have and raid mobo is more than enough. A hardware controller is needed for this.

I suggest try you it with your hardware source on your system without a raid. If you find that you have problems with scrolling through your timeline, quick, movement of ICT, so take a look at raid, otherwise, great, your system is fast enough for your application.

  • Tips on building computer for CS5

I was going to find someone to build me a new pc for my activities of editing the video. I now plan to build it myself.  Can someone tell me how difficult it is? I watched a few videos on youtube on this subject and they seem fairly simple.  However, as I have not done this kind of thing before, would like to see all the tips and advice.  I currently have a quad core 6600 processor that I will update to an i7 930. I use a card mother Asus P6T deluxe V2.  How is it important to use thermal paste?  A few videos I've seen to use it and others don't.  It is vital to use it and if so what thermal paste people here is recommended.  Thank you very much in advance for the advice!

It is not difficult at all, but if you've never done before, take your time, don't hurry and consider steps to assemble your stuff and try to imagine the rest of your steps. For example, with some heatsinks for CPU and some sticks of memory, it may be necessary to first install the sticks of memory before the CPU cooler. Thermal paste is absolutely necessary. Use a good brand like Arctic Silver or if you have a cooler Noctua, Noctua paste. Apply evenly and thin. Too will decrease the cooling performance. Use the screws of distance provided for mounting your motherboard, so that you won't run into problems of shorting and keep in mind how the power cables must be routed from the PSU to the mobo. Who can determine whether to first install the PSU or the mobo. Do not forget that the pins for the connection of fans and SATA cables may become difficult to reach during the use of large heatsinks for CPU with attached fans, but fans of mounting more late can also be difficult, then consider your steps carefully. Look carefully at the pins to connect the disk HARD activity LED, power LED, switch power supply, reset switch, etc. because usually, they end by down and are not visible.

Take your time. It is better to spend an hour or two longer, this troubleshooting later.

It seems to work since I finished to install CS6 tonight, apply the updates and I am testing applications now.  Thanks for your reply.

  • CS5 Folio Builder Panel Update - missing Panel

I've just updated the Panel Builder Folio for CS5 on Mac to the latest version (January 26, 2012) and when I run InDesign, Folio Builder Panel is gone. In addition, CSLive Panel gives me a message "internal error." I installed the updates on my PC for CS 5.5 and everything seems to work. However, I need to work in CS5 for this project. Is this a known issue? How to remedy the situation? In which case it is important, I've also updated producer Folio tools (January 17, 2012), as well.

So, I ended up finding all ironed out, though it took a few hours of trying different things. Essentially, the Folio Builder Panel was installed, but Indesign did not see it. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Indesign, but which does not remove the Panel Builder Folio and has not "updated" it becomes visible.

In the end, I had to go through the app records and manually uninstall the extension. After the relocation, the Panel stood. However, a new problem appeared. InDesign has tried to connect to my account but just turn and nothing happening. I could not cancel the in attempt to "sign". Finally, this has been resolved by opening the key ring and removing the entry of Adobe there allowed me to retype my credentials.

Phew. Thank God, it's on. (until the next update, that is).

If all goes well, this can save others some time that can run in this. Looks like it was a little lucky.
