Burning BluRay DVD on Mac

I just installed PRE 9.0.  Is it possible to burn a BluRay DVD on a DVD-R with PRE 9 media?  In other words, you can record AVCHD with PRE 9 discs?  It would be a plus to have rather than investing in a BD burner.  Apparently, Toast 10 can do that.

The specification of the DVD does not HiDef - link for DVD Demystified FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/544206?tstart=0

I think you MIGHT be able to create a SHORT video BluRay that you write to a folder on your hard disk, and then write this file on a DVD... but you will not be able to play the DVD in a DVD connected to a TV player, you will need a Blu - Ray since a DVD player player can't play HiDef material

Picture quality and sound well when reading. but the picture is not complete SD widescreen. It has back up and down.

    Can someone advise?

What is the best way to burn? data? film?

    Thanks Rod

    Hi Rod,

First things first - was your first widescreen sequence? How did you create assets for the DVD? Recommended method is to export from first as 'MPEG-2 DVD' and choose a suitable preset, such as "NTSC DV Widescreen". When that is imported into, there must be big screen automatically. Looks like maybe the DVD that you created is 4:3.

Regarding the engraving, it is better to export an IMAGE of a reminder, that create a standard .iso (disk image) file that can be burned with any number of third-party programs. I don't know what's available for Mac, there are free applications for PC such as Burn Aware.

If you use the method of the "record" for some reason, do NOT burn as the 'data' - which will not be a good DVD that will play in set-top DVD players. Result will work on computers. Burning software should have an option to 'DVD Video' and who will properly format it to burn a DVD with appropriate specifications. The .iso method is preferred, because it doesn't work, no games.

Where do you watch the DVD it shows black bars, what reading device?

    Thank you

  • To burn a DVD

I used to burn a DVD from an iPHOTO slide show to play on a DVD burner for display on a TV (PAL-system)

If you want to burn the slide show on a DVD, create photo for Mac it and then use the command export to save as a video file.

If you want to play the DVD in a DVD player, you need software, iDVD, Burn, creation or even burn the video to DVD. Otherwise, you can only burn a data DVD.

To burn the video DVD see links below:

I've mastered the art of making videos using iMovie, but I can't understand how the engraved on a dvd that will play in any dvd player.  I tried to do some research to understand this point, but most of the answers I've found are for two years.  I need a current response to help me.  It seems that iDVD is the way to go, but it is not offered and more.  I've tried different converters video will no chance.  Once I got one to work and burned on dvd, but then it wouldn't play on anything other than my Macbook.  Please help me!  I just made a video birthday for my son who just turned one, and I need it to be on dvd.  Can someone help me?

    Buy iDVD.

Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I tried most of the other substitutes.  None of them come anywhere close to the ease of use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.

With iDVD, you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.

IDVD is easy to obtain. It is available on the disc as part of iLife 11.  You can, but it on Amazon or ebay.

IDVD is a wonderful piece of software, and is worth the modest sum of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

  • I tried to burn a DVD or a Blu - ray on Final Cut Pro 10.2.2

I tried to burn a DVD on Final Cut Pro 10.2.2 but I find that it always stop the process of engraving in different times. I try a different project on different Macs, some works of time but most of the time stops processing in order to burn! any suggestion?

Sometimes to replace the image of the menu with a version resized, smaller (height 480) solves this problem.

  • How can I burn a DVD than iMovie?

It's me I'm 82, or is it my new iMac? I did a wedding clips iMovie and cannot burn it to a DVD to share with my daughter.

Your new Mac will not have the necessary application: iDVD.

Why are there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it, and how do I install it?

    https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-3673

To burn a DVD with the latest version of iMovie's iDVD, you must export the movie using the export button and select 480 p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, and then drag this file in the sequence exported to iDVD menu window, avoiding the drop areas that see you.

  • Burn a DVD with "disk utility".

Before El Capitan (10.11.2), I was able to burn a DVD using "disk utility".  Here are the instructions that I used.  Disk utility has now a new version Version 15.0 (1511.3) and the statement no longer work.  Can anyone update these instructions?

    Copy DVD

Follow these instructions to make a copy of your DVD unprotected:

Insert your DVD into your Mac. Most Macs will automatically launch the DVD player. Once he starts, he gave up. You should see your DVD drive mounted on your desktop.

Open disk utility (Applications > utilities). Select the DVD drive in the list on the left. You will notice that there are two DVD icons - select the one slightly indented (this is the DVD itself, while the first is the drive).

Click on "New Image" in the main window of disk utility.

Choose a name and a destination in the window "Save as...". ». Don't forget that your destination should have enough space to copy the whole DVD, which can be more than four concerts.

In the window "Save as...". ', to ensure that the selection 'Format of Image' is set to ' CD/DVD Master' and the selection of "Encryption" is set to 'none '. Click Save.

After you have copied the DVD in your destination drive, return to disk utility. Your new disk Image will appear in the list on the left side of the disk utility window. The original disc of DVD on your Mac.

Insert a DVD disc that is accessible by writing in your Mac. Select your disk Image created in the list on the left side of the disk utility window. Click on "Burn" in the main window of disk utility. Choose your burn speed and if you want to check the data burned.

You will receive confirmation once you the DVD are engraved with success and you are all set with a new copy of your DVD drive. Just save your new disk Image and you can make a copy whenever you may need.

That is right. Apple has removed this feature FROM.

You can do it from the Finder

Well, that's great - it works, it works! I set AutoPlay to say 9 Power2Go of Cyberlink to start when a blank CD or DVD disc is in the tray & it works like a charm. In fact, I burned my first session successfully using my bluray on a blank CD - R disc player. Burned in a series of songs on the CD with no other problems. Spread the word. Laughing out loud! Be well & thank you for all your help.

Visit this link to get your free copy of the bluray burning software. I said that it was free, right? Free is good. ;-)

  • How to lower the speed of writing for burning a DVD?  It gives me no other choice!

How to lower the speed of writing for burning a DVD?  It gives me no other choice!

Brand of the disc can be a problem.

Most of us don't burn with yet. There were serious problems that several generations back and I never use to burn now other than for testing. Construction of an image and burn with ImgBurn if you're on PC; Toast if mac.

I was also worried that discs that burn successfully to you run the risk of not to play well on all players.

  • Now that my full FCP project, I burned a dvd and everything is fine but I want to download the .mov on YouTube, but cannot determine WHICH of the largest number is the one to download.  Too many files are named "Untitled" and I can't find a post of .mov

Now that my project from FCP 5 minutes video clip is over, even if I am a complete and total novice to the iMac, I nevertheless managed burned a DVD via the file > share the menu option and everything went well, but now I want to download the .mov on YouTube, but is unable to determine to WHICH many files created in this project is the one to download!  It seems that many files are named "Untitled" and I do not seem to know how to find ONE with a .mov extension.

At the top left of my screen of the FCP is the list of "Libraries" that after that I developed all the arrows to point down looks like this:

    Libraries

    Untitled

    Smart collections

    30/06/16

    Age of television

If you haven't guessed, the name of my project is "T.V. Age" and I expected to find somewhere on the computer, a file named, 'T.V. Age.mov' or somethjng like that for me to download on YouTube, but I can't find THE .mov files.  Maybe I don't know how to market the Finder option to display filenames WITH extensions?

I'm hoping that someone with enough time on their hands and understanding in their hearts will take the time to help me locate the .mov that as well as help me correctly name this library Untitled in the zone without good libraries course disrupt the integrity of the completed video-music that is always open on the timeline, even if I don't there anymore since my work with her is over , but the only "CLOSE button" I see is 'close library Untitled' button on the file menu.  I don't see even its end (the *) project button!  The only way I see how close my project is to close the program, but I doubt if it's true.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Tony

If you did burn a DVD, then you did burn a DVD, you export any file can be used.  Share > main folder > Audio + video and download that ProRes file resulting.  Or use the built-in YouTube option to upload directly to YouTube.

You don't "close" anything in the part of the timeline, it is useless.  You would simply open a new project or other media type of container, in the part of the timeline.
