  Thanks for posting. To be honest, that is not a specific type of screwdriver I recommend you buy to open the machine. Personally the time machine, that I personally use one ' ' Phillips type screw of the standard precision screws drivers collection 6 pieces I have. However, if I tried a screwdriver with a magnetic head. That really helped get the machine back together.

  I am considering buying fonts open type (Meta Pro) to make maps of the Eastern Europe eg, the Turkey (and any other country that uses some weird diacritics in their names ;-))
  I dare not ask, but support FreeHand open Type fonts? Only Illustrator? And how are these taken policies supported by both programs?

  Freehand can use OpenType fonts, but can access only the ascii (such as Type1 fonts) character set, no unicode support that is.

  Illustrator can use any unicode character, you throw at it. Including the stylistic sets etc.

  Edtiting of text in Illustrator is much slower, but with little practice and to keep all the text in a separate layer elements make it tolerable. Also the use of styles is a must, but unlike Illustrator FreeHand has character styles.

  Both suck by doing good body text hyphen. In FreeHand, you will need to manually add tons of discretionary hyphens and other settings. In Illustrator, text of paragraph is basically better but half a dozen serious bugs make editing intolerable remarks. (These bugs appeared in version 10 and are not yet set.!)

• 700-414: my new HP 700-414

  I bought this computer from office a little over a month there are at Best Buy as a "open box". They assured me that the factory warranty was still in effect, but according to HP, it has expired, so I didn't get any free help. The problem I have is upgraded to wINDOWS 10. I tried 4 times now and downloaded a new Microsoft Installer every time (all are different sizes!), but each has stopped at 24% installation and 82% copy of the files. It tells me that there is something on the HDD that stops this install... any ideas what? Or how to find it? I tell myself that I am just stuck with Windows 8.1, the same thing that I finally had to stay with Windows 7 on my new laptop last because I could not upgrade to Windows 8 either!

  The fact that I did not support HP saddens me, but it's too late to go back now, it seems that I have to pay a lot of money using HP or just do without! That seems hardly fair to me, since this is / was probably a floor model, and nobody had ever on the Internet for viruses etc and never anything added to this plant.  So I guess I have to just this chalked up to experience (a bad one, I might add) and learn to live with it.

  The computer works fine with Windows 8.1, but sooner than later, Microsoft will stop away from giving the upgrade and also stop supporting all less than 10.  So, I'm sure that there is someone out there who could help me, but is finding that person who is my problem. H E L P!

  Just to smile and laugh. I tried upgrading the fifth time... new downloads too... this time he locked himself in the exact same place as before, so I just shut down the computer and went to bed! The next morning, when I turned the computer on a screen came up with an error number (it was the first time this happened) so I entered this number in Google and came to a solution. He told me to remove all of the added devices that I had added once I bought the computer and try again.

  Not to sound like I'm so smart, but this was to be my next attempt to get this update to 'take', but it was... honest! The error message has confirmed my suspisions, so I followed him. And it worked this time!

  HP hear on my problem and I responded with 3 emails which were unanswered, and finally a letter at the post office cancel the ticket due to no response. No help came by HP. The people here on this forum have been very helpful and concerned about my problems. They did their utmost to help me, but it isn't fair, I guess.

  Finally, my problem with the whole thing guaranteed was passed from one person to another at HP, and I'm now emailing to the terminus of the chain. I'm learning that HP does not have ANY Open box or returned items. However, Best Buy put info to the factory warranty on the sticker of the Open box that was on the side of the computer. This particular computer was only a screen of store shelf. He never left the store and at most could have a "demo" on this program to show the clients capabilities. So, indeed, HP means that they do not trust Best Buy about any changes made to the computer by them.  I guess I could and SHOULD probably continue this all the way with Best Buy, but I'll probably just here, with a warning to ANYONE buy anything "Open Box" of ANY store in the city.  If I had known that he had absolutely no warranty at all on this computer unless I bought an extra, would I have spent more than $700 for this? I seriously doubt that! He wasn't connected yet, so it may have been even completely 'dead '!

  P.T. Barnum says it all... "There is a sucker being born every minute." And there is also the cliché "buyer beware."  And also "you only get what you pay..." I learned a valuable lesson. The hassle that ihave had to endure because of the purchase of an "Open box" were certainly not the few dollars I saved buy buy this way.  And everyone, notice that Best Buy can only provide a guarantee of factory on ANY issue "Open Box", although says that it is available on the sticker.

  I should probably sue them only!

  So, it's the end of my story on the upgrade of Windows 10. I hope everyone enjoyed my short biography and maybe learned something from my mistakes! This false advertising MUST be stopped! Do not hesitate to reply to this message if I am good or bad... or just...

• LaserJet 500 color M551 PCL6 - Toner level error

  I love my LaserJet 500 color M551 but I'm having a problem with the black toner level.  I went to spend the night to have a level of about 50-60% to 10%.  Literally from one day to the next.  I had just checked the levels during the night and the next day the black toner was low.  My use is very light.  According to the page using the number for the monochrome is 1 668.  Total is listed at 3 487.  According to the supplies Status Page 3 543 pages were printed with black and 2 154 ink with the 3, various tonic color.  The only chance 3 543 a to be healthy is if black was included in all color prints so total use of black toner without color would be in the area of 1,400 pages.   There is no way we printed 3 543 black pages and more 2 154 color pages.  We had this printer at 14 months.  We get a new pack of 500 pages about every 2 to 3 months.  At the absolute most, we printed 3 500 pages total.  Most of our impression is heavier on the color.  In fact, we have done a large number of color prints full page.  But given the way we print color is about where we might expect.  And when the black toner showed the 50-60% it was where we expected.

  So what happened? Why our drop of toner level to 10 percent from one day to the next?  I tried the cat with the support, but they did lose one hour of my time and absolutely nothing accomplished.  The service was terribly slow that it was as if a person has worked 3 or 4 cats at the same time.  So I tried it and vain.  The support representative suggested that I swap cartridges.  I don't have a spare those for Exchange.  It made absolutely no sense to me to buy a cartridge of 160-$180 if he could sit on a shelf for a year while waiting to get used.  I certainly don't want to buy and open a new toner cartridge just to know, nothing was wrong with the other.   So the line of background here is... someone has suggestions?  How will I know what is the real level of toner?  Is there a way to reset the levels?

  Better yet. Someone has this model of printer and a black toner empty known cardtridge?  If yes do you know the exact weight of a cartridge empty in ounces? I also want to compare this to the full weight of this model cartridge at 100%.  If I had these two weight I would be able to calculate the exact amount of toner remaining.

  Here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a simple solution to your problem: just keep printing.  There was problems with the guarantee of toner system where there are sudden jumps in reported toner level, like what comes to live.  Unfortunately, we do not have a foolproof system for reporting levels of toner, and there is no method for re - calculate and declare a correct level in your cartridge.  Toner templates does not rise, they count only down.  When you eventually replace the cartridge, it will start again at 100%.

  The good news is that you have not suddenly lost all life of the cartridge, it looks just like that.  Your printer will continue printing normally, and the toner level be at 10% for a long time.  When the black cartridge is in fact less than 10%, the pledge starts counting down again.  I'm sorry to see this problem coming up for visitors, but it does.  There is nothing wrong, except the black toner level reported.  I know this isn't a great answer, but it is the best I have.   I'm glad you like your printer - try to ignore the level of toner for awhile.

• Camera Raw Support for Canon 7 d MkII

  Just try to get an idea if I should spend the $99.00 to buy at the Apple Store opening.  This may seem a little over the top, but the workflow, I miss by not having not RAW support in Lightroom is worth the expense of buying from opening.

  I find it very disappointing that Adobe do not have as the support yet for the new Canon 7 D MkII.  It is a VERY popular camera.

  Mostly I find this slowness on the part of very disappointing Adobe because they sell CC buy saying: "you always up-to-date software.  When you think Apple and Google Picasa have already taken care of the Canon 7 d MkII.  I might add that they had both for the camera within days of its release on October 31.

  Certainly not illegal but certainly not at the shelter.  You have no idea of what the seller will send you, and if they are already using the product key that came with the package, you will not be able to use it and have bought nothing.  Save yourself the potential pain and get a copy retail instead.

  A few months ago, I bought a laptop from Best Buy. It was a mixed open-box item that was apparently recorded by the former owner.

  Some of the equipment is faulty, so I need support, but cannot get help because I'm not the owner.

  After I bought it, I called and spoke with a representative who said that she has transferred the property, but that apparently isn't the case. Phone representatives I spoke this week can help me because I do not know the info from the original owner, that Best Buy won't give me (understandably).

  They said that I could fill the form of ownership, I did but was rejected and said that I was not allowed to answer.

  Can someone who has solved this problem help out me? It is so incredibly frustrating that there is no better way to do it. I have the laptop in my possession and I have a receipt.

  Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

  Microsoft Works is an Office suite obsolete and abandoned. However, Microsoft Works version 8.0 is compatible with Windows 7, it may not work on Windows 8, arise random errors. You can try to install this version in compatibility mode for Windows XP and then check if it works properly.

  • Right click on the Installer (.exe file) for Microsoft works file, and then click Properties.
  • Go to the compatibility tab.
  • Check the box for run this program in compatibility mode for:
  • In the list of operating systems, select Windows XP (or any other compatible OS) .
  • Click OK.
  • Double-click the executable file to install the program and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • Restart your computer.
