  • Why do I get this message when I try to return to the previous page? "object moved here."

It's so boring. I use ancestry.com a lot and after I watch a census or a person on ancestry.com, I try to use the left arrow to return to the page that I started on the screen turns white and it says "object moved here." "Here" is a link, but it does not work for me back to the page I want. I have to use the arrow back several times and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, so I lift all over again. It's so boring!

It's probably a problem with the site and you will have to contact them and ask them to fix it. But a link to a public page where it happens and allows us to reproduce the problem can be useful.

    Here's a Plan:

Goto, start system restore restore Menu\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System

Now select the oldest Restore Point and restore your computer, but first make sure that you have an external drive.

After that C:\Windows\System32\Rundll32.exe copy the external drive and the disc is ejected

Open the system restore and undo restore

After the undo operation is copy the Rundll32.exe in the road to C:\Windows\System32

    and the problem solved

Note: the rundll32.exe should be missed recently and you should have an old Restore Point which contains a file Rundll32.exe Intact

  • On the computer of the opening, this message: c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe.

I searched the drivers and utilities cd that came w/my computer and the operating system cd and do not find this file there.  Don't know what to do from this point on.  Cannot remove programs without this file.  Thanks for any help!

When you try to open a control panel applet, you see a message like this:

    Control Panel
Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe '.  Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.  To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.

If the file is actually missing, it was probably quarantined (actually deleted) by some program antivirus or antimalware you use.

You might want to reconsider some anti-virus or anti-malware software, you use and whether or not they are effective to protect your system.

You can look in the c:\windows\system32 folder and see if the file is actually missing or not, but if it is really missing, you must replace it somehow.

Since the file is one of the protected files 3498 who cares about XP, needed a backup copy of the file on your system in a few other cases.  You must do what the message says and search for the file.

Click Start, search, for files and folders... and in the search box, enter:

    Rundll32.exe

The click the search button to search for you the hard drive for a copy of the missing file.

You can find a copy of the file that is missing in these folders:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache
    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

If you find a copy in one of these two files, copy and paste it in the c:\windows\system32 folder.  There may be other files rundll32.exe on your system of MS updates, but they can only be those you need (they could work maybe).

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

If you cannot find a copy of the file in one of these two places, there is one on my SkyDrive, you can download.  Here's how:

I downloaded a copy of XP Pro SP3 file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, place a copy of the file in these two folders (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32
c:\Windows\System32\dllcache (this is where XP keeps backups of important files).

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:
    https://SkyDrive.live.com/?CID=6a7e789cab1d6f39&ID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you can not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, your browser is unable to save the file with an extension (by example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called rundll32 when the name of the file should really be called rundll32.exe (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

You then put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

Note that advice to run sfc/scannow will not replace a file rundll32.exe missing in the system32 folder.  If you need to prove that to yourself, I also have instructions for it.

    Hello

Rundll32 errors can be caused by malware.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

TDSSKiller.exe. - Download the desktop - so go ahead and right-click on it - RUN AS ADMIN
It will display all the infections in the report after you run - if it will not run changed the name of
TDSSKiller.exe to tdsskiller.com. If she finds something or not does not mean that you should not
check with the other methods below.
