C55-A-19N satellite: 4 GB of RAM installed but only 2.39 is usable

Hello

I have Toshiba satellite A-C55-19N with Windows 7 32 bit. It has 4 GB of memory installed, but only 2.39 is usable.

BIOS is the latest.
I can't find the option to change anywhere in the system.

My desktop with core i5 - 2500K can see 3.29 GB to 4 GB of RAM, why toshiba can not see?

32-bit systems (no matter if its Win 7) Win XP, Vista etc.) supports only 3.2 GB of RAM
It is the 32-bit boundary.

The other small part (300 MB roundabout) is shared by the graphics card.
Therefore, the system displays only 2.39 GB RAM

    Hello chillinbro07,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.

I did a bit of research as part of the supported memory card mother EVGA for DD3-1600:

Your memory is not listed.  Let me suggest to do a clean install with your 4gig of RAM, then after installing the operating system, add the extra 4gig.  See if it works.

I read somewhere that someone had success in re-sitting their CPU on the motherboard.  If you are comfortable doing this, you can try it.  Otherwise, I would do the same type of memory that they have been reported as compatible for their mother.

  • I added 4 GB of RAM to my laptop Satellite C70 - D, but only 3, 96 GB usable

In the second slot, I added a 4 GB ram module. (correcting mhz etc.)
Act BIOS detects 8 GB of ram but my windows 8.1 (x 64) show only: 3, 96 GB usable, windows detects 8 GB, but don't use it...

What I did wrong, and how can I get all of the 8 GB to use?

    I have a laptop win8.1 x 64 running C70D-B-306

    > I added a 4 GB ram module into the second slot. (correcting mhz etc.)
Can you please tell us the manufacturer and the exact specification of this extra RAM module?

According to the specifications of the compatible laptop 4 GB RAM rated a number PA5104U-1M4G or Kingston KTT-S3CL / 4G.

    Hello

X 86 Windows will not be able to see more than 4 GB, so it will not work. Now, JUST try to 4 GB to see (and normally its usable is around 3.25 to 3.75 GB).  If you want to use more than 4 GB, you need 64-bit operating system.

    Kind regards.

  • In Windows 7 has 4 GB of ram but only 2.75 gb usable

    I have
    Win7 32 bit os.
    AMD phenom II x 2 550 processor
    4 GB of ram

but it shows only 2.75 GB usable.

    Why so much?

A 32-bit operating system is not able to use more than 2.75 GB of RAM (maximum addressable memory is 2 * 32, which is about 2.75 gig). In order to use full 4 GB of RAM, you need a 64-bit operating system.

  • 8 GB of RAM shows that only 2.85 GB usable

    Dear team

My 32-bit Windows 7 system shows only 2.85 GB usable out of 8 GB of RAM in the system properties. Is there a problem with my PC. Help, please.

No, there is no problem, other than your lost money by buying
    more than 4 GB.

All versions of Windows 32-bit client (XP/Vista/7 not only) have a 4GB
address space (64-bit versions can use much more). It's the
theoretical upper limit beyond which you cannot go.
But you can't use the whole address space. Even if you have a
Address space of 4 GB, you can only use around 3. 1 GB of RAM. It's
because some of the space is used by the hardware and is not available for
operating system and applications. The amount you can use varies, depending on what hardware you have installed, but can
range from as little as 2 GB to 3.5 GB. It's usually around
GB 3.1. you are a little below this average.

Note that the hardware is using the space, not the real address
The RAM itself. If you have a larger amount of RAM, the rest of the RAM
goes unused because there is no address to map space to.

  • Satellite A100: 2 GB of RAM installed, but Windows displays only 1.99 GB

    Hello everyone again

I've recently updated the ram in my A100-583 from 1 GB to 2 GB.
However, although the computer does not seem to run much faster, when I look at the properties of the system in the main general tab, it's only show that there is 1.99 GB it is a problem with the Ram, or is it just a glich with the System Properties window.

All other system checks indicate that there are 2 GB in the comp... The ram I installed is corsair ddr2 sodimm 667 mhz/pc25300.
    {Any help with this will be appreciated thanks in advance: 8}

I don t think that it is a problem of memory modules (RAM live).
    What is the BIOS reports?

Still that memory could be shared with the GPU (graphics card), and the windows OS also uses some of the memory

Don t you worry and there is everything ok ;)

  • Satellite P100: No CD Windows Vista but only the recovery CD

Hi, I recently bought a toshiba satellite P100, but it does not seem to have fitted with a disc of Windows Vista, only the preinstalled Vista.

The laptop works fine for now, but I'm a little worried that if something is wrong in the future, I will have no way to reinstall the OS.

The laptop came with a recovery disk, and I don't know if Vista is included on this?

If it isn't in any way I can make a copy of vista installed on my HARD drive?

    Thank you

    Hello

Don t worry, you don t need to make a copy of your HARD disk, since you already have a vista on your recovery media.

If you have problems with your system and you want to re - install, then backup all your data on an external, put the recovery in your CD/DVD drive, boot from it and then just 'recover' or 'reinstall' your system. The recovery process works automatically and you will have an installation "factory-like" after recovering from your machine.

Hope, I could explain it... ;)

  • Tecra A9 - 4 GB of RAM installed again, only 3 GB recognized

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Tecra A9-SX9013 with 1 GB of installed RAM factory. I just bought and installed from Newegg, two sticks of Kingston 2 GB 200 PIN DDR2 memory RAM that I just installed on my laptop. The laptop will only recognize 3 GB as being installed on my system. I took the new memory back out and reinstalled it to make sure everything was connected.

Since it is grateful to 3 GB of memory installed, it is reading the two sticks. However, it is only to show that there is 3 GB installed. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi xlr8.

This is normal on all PCs.

32-bit operating systems are limited to 3 GB because the / 3GB-> 4 GB address space is used by the system virtually map memory for devices such as the video card.

If you want to use all 4GB, you will need a 64-bit operating system.

Google 'limit of 3 GB 32-bit' for more information.

  • New on Satellite Pro 6100 WLAN card installed, but can not be activated

Hi, just replaced the internal Wireless LAN card on my laptop Satellite Pro 6100. Map of yesterday and today have the same problem: I can't turn them on. They are installed properly and supposed to run in what concerns the XP drivers, but does not detect wireless network andy saying it is "disabled".

I tried upgrading to the latest version of BIOS
    I reinstalled the latest drivers
Toshiba network device switch sees only the Intel Pro/100 VE wired, network card, but not the card the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG.
Direct activation of the Wireles does not produce a said connection disable, enable, trying to connect, but it fails, as if he did not see the network.

Past and present, wireless card fail to see any network.

    Martin

    Hello Martin

This model of laptop is quite old and at that time 2200 card was not on the market. I can imagine that there is a compatibility issue.

I think for older models of laptops, the best solution is the use of a faster but external solution in the form of PCMCIA or USB WLAN card. With the help of these cards you will not have compatibility issues.
What do you think of this?

  • Satellite L750 - WLAN Driver seems installed BUT does not actually

I formatted my laptop 'Satellite L750"which, like"Realtek RTL8188CE' wireless network. After the download and installation of the network adapter driver for Windows 7 x 64 Toshiba site wireless, everything looks fine on the screen of the installation and after installation. Driver status says 'this device is working properly' and appers wireless icon in the status bar as expected.

BUT wireless serach finds no access point. When I look at ' ipconfig/all' into the command screen this adapter is not seen in the list?

I turned on and off the map of the software several times. I disabled and enabled driver several times. I tried to download the driver of this same card 'Realtek' Web site but nothing has changed?

What is the problem that I can't understand. Before the format it worked well in the same operating system windows7?

You can enable or disable WLAN using FN + F8 key combination?

  • Satellite L650 - 15G - 4 GB installed but usable 3.87 GB

    Hello

I hope someone out there can help me out. I bought the laptop mentioned above over the weekend. Memory std for this machine configuration is 3 GB of RAM, noticing that he had x 64 version of Windows, I went out and bought a 2 GB to bump up to 4 GB memory module. The machine, set up and checked the memory in system properties, it says 4 GB installed 3.87 GB usable. On further investigation, I found that 137MB of RAM was material reserved.

Is there anyway that I can get this comprehensive performance 4 GB RAM and back?

    Help, please.

    Hello

The small part of the main memory is locked by the graphics card.
GPU shares a small amount of RAM main. This is controlled automatically by driver graphics card, so you cannot modify it manually.
