Hello

I'm using coherence. And this is the beginning.

I would like to know: why in examples of coherence, I see all the time a cache by POJO. I explain by a use case:
If there are two POJO: customer and order, there is a cache to store customers, and another cache to store orders.
Why this implementation?

As others have already pointed out, you can easily store objects of different types in a single cache. However, there are several reasons why you may not to:

1. several features consistency, such as indexes and parallel queries, use extractors of value to retrieve the property values of objects in the cache. If these objects are not in the same category, you probably run questions when using out-of-the-box value extractors, such as the extractor based on the reflection and will have to write your own Extractor which is able to manage differences.

2. different entities within your application will require probably different caching topologies. You can reproduce some objects in read-only or read-mostly on all nodes, while you probably want these types of features that tend to grow in volume over time of the partition. Having a cache by entity type allows you to do this easily.

As a general rule, you want to have a cache by type of entity, just like you'd usually have one table per entity type in a database. In some cases, you will have a single cache by the hierarchy of entity types, especially if all the properties you need indexing and querying on are present on the base class.

    You can accomplish this with one or more caches in different services. A cluster of coherence manages a group of Java virtual machines, in which each virtual machine JAVA manages one or more services. Each cache must belong to a service. If a cache 'X' belongs to the service 'A' and cache 'Y' service 'B', we hear this cache 'X' will live only in the JVM that contains the service "A". You can create the same structure with OSB and external cache servers.

  • A list of names of cache coherence

    Hi all
    How to do to get a list of the NamedCaches which are present in a cluster of consistency at some point?

    I couldn't find any API for the same thing, or I could find definitive answers in the forums.

    I need the job quite systematic to pre-load my caches at the start, and that's why I need the names of caches configured in my file of coherence-cache - config.Xml.

    I have not added dynamically caches, then Yes, I could use a little names encoded hard cache in my initialization routine.

    Also, I could analyze my config file to avoid to hardcode the name of cache.

    But I was wondering if there is an API for coherence that could help me.

    Yes, it's a little bit of chicken and eggs - this is why most of the people don't what already was mentioned above and have some sort of static game constants, either in an Interface or an enumeration that contains the list of all the caches that an application uses. There are more benefits to do that to know what caches you have at the start; all the code accesses one of the same constants for the names of cache, there is no bugs where people use the wrong name and it is easy to change the names of cache. The only place wherever it does not work is in applications where you have caches created dynamically at execution and you do not know the names in front - but then you are unlikely to want to load those at startup.

  • Reference to the actual object during extraction to the cache coherence in C++

    Currently I use the copy constructor to get the real object reference. But because of that when whenever for some call wire get object creates a new object in the heap. Because I have a few times I keep this object in the local cache. Is there a way that we can avoid creating new objects in the heap.

    Hi Sura,

    Can you please specify if you want a mutable or immutable object. As you can with a thread earlier, out-of-process consistency puts cached objects return mutable objects immutable return hide in the process. The in-process caches back those unchangeable to prevent changing the return value to appear as if they were made in the cache.

    The boxing_map will return mutable objects, although they use your copy constructor to produce so there is really no performance advantage to use it. A final version is returned it is only because force us the call to the constructor of copy of you restore an unmanaged version.

    Of course your data object would need the appropriate field names and you will have no channels for all types. It must also implement equals and hashCode and ideally PortableObject.

    Hi Eric,.

    There is a slight misunderstanding in how you think that the works of coherence.

    For clustered caches Coherence does not return the value of the object key of equals to the key specified when caching, object instead, it returns When serialized forms of the key used to and used to get equal to one another.

    If you use no POF, then most of the time Java serialization is used to serialize the objects of key, and in any case if you don't use of POF, and the name of the serialized object class is in the serialized form.

    Now, the thing is that the key that you put in is a java.util.ArrayList. The key that you have tried to get with is a java.util.Arrays.ArrayList.
    It's two different classes, so the serialized forms that store the name of class implementation (which is true in this case) cannot be the same. So consistency is not going to put initially entrance the key that it uses (the serialized form) is actually different from the original key, so there is no entry for the key used in the get() method, and correctly you get back null.

    On the other hand, the two implementations ArrayList implement equals as defined in AbstractList, requiring not only the types of implementation of lists be the same, they apply just that the relation to the object is also a list, so two lists containing the same elements in the same order are equal as long as equals() on AbstractList is concerned, that's why your equals() check evaluates to true even if the types of implementation are different.

  • Integrate Hibernate L2 cache with consistency in the composite key of reference

    I have a problem when I activate the Hibernate l2 cache integrated with consistency. When the entity class using this string or unique integer primary key, the L2 cache has worked well. But when I use the entity with composite key class, I had the problem.
    I wrote a script to test junit to test the session.get method, when I run the test cases for the first time, the miss of the entity to load the object from the cache, Hibernate will trigger a DB query so it box as an object, then put it in the cache. But when I run the test case, again, I found the Hibernate trigger a query once again, which was strange... (it should not have happened, I should got the object from the cache), then, I used the console cache coherence to list the data in the cache and finding himself under the information:

    So what you're really asking is a way to ensure that updates made directly to the DB of your existing system are pushed in cache coherence.

    It is a common problem with a number of possible solutions according to your specific needs.

    If you do not need data in cache, in other words, don't mind if it's a bit outdated, then you can use the expiry and refresh to come so that consistency will expire entries the cache and reading in that the DB to the need to hide.

    If you need accurate data in the cache, it is when it changes on the DB you had to push as soon as possible in the cache, then you need another way. It depends probably the DB that you use and what functionality it provides to allow you to hang change tables.

    The SIG London yesterday there was a presentation on the Oracle Golden Gate to do this kind of thing. I think that it is based on the use of the APP and of course an Oracle DB.

    We are experiencing a problem with our custom CacheLoader and near cache with expiration / delay on the storage card scheme.

    I was under the assumption that it was possible to have an expiry time configured on the system of support and that the cache near object was expelled during the backup object has been expelled. But, according to our tests, there must be a delay expires on the regime of front also.

    Plan near Cache allows configurable levels of most basic cache coherence cache expiration based versioning of data cache according to the requirements of consistency of the cache invalidation based. Near Cache is commonly used to achieve the performance of the cache replicated without losing aspects of scalability of the replicated cache, and this with a subset of data (based on SRM or UPM) in the of the near cache and all the data in the cache close.     I'm in a dillemma. Whether to use the methods NamedCache.get () or entrySet (filter) to query the cache. Please guide me...

    My understanding is that when using

    1. get() or getAll(), consistency checks if the entry is in the cache, if it does not exist in the cache, coherence get his from the data store
    2. simply entrySet (Filters), consistency checks the cache, and returns the results based on what is available in the cache.

    In this case, is it not better to use get instead entrySet in a case where we do not know if up-to-date data are available in the Cache?

    1. What is the difference between using a get and entrySet ?
    2. How do we make sure that up-to-date data are available in the cache when the use not a writeback scenario?

    Consistency can make periodic updates cached entries that have recently been consulted within a configurable time thanks to its cooling function in advance.   • Error if the publication data to the cache passive

    I use push active-passive replication. When I add data in the active cache, the data added to the cache but get the error below during publish data on passive cache.

    The units are the number of entries of data stored in the coherence of caches.
    The high-units element corresponds to the maximum number of 'units' (entered data, including units in order to backup, not even with objects) allowing to store in a particular JVM for a specific cache coherence. In addition, this number should be the same on all nodes (i.e. use the same cache on all nodes configuration file).
    The objects are the number of entries of data stored in cache coherence excluding the entries for other purposes (for example, backup).

    RE: To get Coherence to report object sizes you need to set the unit-caculator to binary.
    

    If you don caculator-unit set, consistency can use the default setting (set) to the report.

    The construction side of customer such a NearCache is usually limited by the corresponding class loader. Imagine an application server running two different applications that have access to the cache even in a grid. Because the card before the near cache stores data in the format of the object (in contrast to the support cards that store data in an internal binary representation), it cannot be shared between these two applications. The attribute class-loader uses a scope id to differentiate between these levels before two cards (and corresponding MBeans).
