Caddy optical Bay for Pavilion dv4 - 1228ca - where to find?
Anyone know where to find less expensive optical Bay caddy for Pavilion dv4 - 1228 laptop computer ca?
Try eBay, however, could not find one with the connector appropriate; This one
would work, but it was a little overpriced for an investment of old machine... Any ideas, please?
Newmodeus is about the only game in town for this kind of product. I know an organization called jacobsparts.com in my hometown has some drive hard generic 2d optical Bay adapters, but they wouldn't look nearly as good as that of your machine.
I would use an SSD instead of the conventional HARD disk, but SSDS are very expensive and that is why I would like to replace the optical drive with my conventional HARD drive. The optical drive is not often used and so I'm looking for a Bay optical caddy who easily replaced the DVD drive. I know that old Tecra Systems (e.g. 8100), that such a Bay was available.
I don't want to use an external drive, because I do not carry many devices with me. Please can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.
I know that there are these optics by caddy for some Toshiba laptops but I don t know if they are available for Tecra S10 and if it of possible.
You should ask a service provider authorized in your country. If this an optical bay caddy is available, you order if by technicians and they can give you a detailed response. :)
I would be grateful if you could direct me to the drivers Windows XP for HP Pavilion dv4 - 1228ca.

Do a manual installation
Go to Device Manager, right click on the unknown device,
Choose update driver, not to communicate.
Choose the install from a list or a specific location, not search, have-disk,
Navigate to the location of machine.inf.
Do it for the rest of the unknown devices.Message edited by Daniel_Potyrala on 12/09/2009 15:53
I bought the model Pavilion dv4 4141us back in 2011 with the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bitOS. Recently, I wiped the whole laptop and installed a new OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. After checking the Device Manager, im missing FOUR drivers
1 "base system device",
3. "Ethernet controller"
4. "unknown device".
I tried to installthe highest of the "support and drivers" section of the HP drivers mentioned depui, I've been unsucceful supplied drivers supported 64 bit.
I need help in finding drivers for 32 bit OS.
You should be able to use these drivers...
I need to view the ID of the material for the unknown device as it could be a few things.
If you don't know where to find the hardware ID, please read the info on the link below as a guide.

I have serious overheating problems on my Pavilion dv4-260 and reading that updated the bios might help. I have version F0.b, but some sources said another version. The HP site says nothing when I check the updates. Can someone tell me what should be the current bios?
Last version for your model is F.0F - the title of the list of drivers for Windows 7.
I doubt that a BIOS update would solve the problems of overheating. An older office here suffers from overheating in Windows 10 and I think it is due to no AMD graphics driver to Win 10. The graphics card is old and not support for win 10 AMD. The driver using Microsoft base. No doubt will be back this machine to Windows 7.

You need this driver for the PCI device.
I ran a diagnostic battery last night after that I had trouble keeping my battery charged. It must be replaced. I think I found the battery on Amazon: it's a KS526AA. I found the battery on the HP Web site as well, but this product does not list what laptops, it is compatible with. I know the standard dv4 is a KS524AA, but I wouldn't mind the extended battery, just as long as it works.
Does anyone know phones compatible for the KS526AA or that the batteries are compatible with a Pavilion dv4?
It depends on the specific dv4 series you are referring. Here is the battery compatibility chart: http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/pdf/HP_NB_Battery_Compatibility_Chart.pdf
My pavilion dv4-3020tx hdd just crashed and I want to replace it. My hard drive is blue WD scorpio 2.5 "SATA 640GO, I already check the hard drive im stores but its already obsolete. Can I replace it with a higher as 1 TB and other brand memory?
Yes, there is much more quickly around HARD drive please get one with greater cache and 7200 rpm or same hybrid HARD drive:
I hope someone here can help with that, because I'm out of ideas...
I've recently updated the primary drive of my laptop dv6700 (dv6820es) with an SSD. I did a new install of Win_7_32 and there is no problem at all.
But this record is not that great, so I decided to plug in the SATA HARD disk-old through the optical drive Bay in order to have the storage capacity. For this, I ordered a SATA-to-PATA caddy that fits perfectly.
The big problem now is to make this combination of work:
- Behavior of the BIOS: it is difficult to say if the BIOS detects the drive properly, as long as this model of the BIOS is pretty poor in the configuration/information options. In any case, when I press F9 with the 2nd HARD drive plugged in, a new startup option appears as well as the SSD and is listed as "7. Notebook hard drive. The HARD drive is spinning too. Because of what I guess that the BIOS detects, at least, 'something' (but again, I can't tell if the HARD drive as it is or just some unknown decive). Moreover, the BIOS is updated to the latest available version: l58 A.
- Behavior of Windows: for what I can see, Windows behaves as if the reader was not there. Nothing in the "Device Manager" and nothing in the "Disk Manager", just the SSD drive is detected. With one exception, in one of the restarts a lot I did the player that presented themselves. The usual text bubble said 'installation disk... ". ", and apparently it installed fine. After installation, there was this new IDE drive "" under "Drives" in the "Windows Device Manager". Well, it seems to work! But unfortunately, I've seen my hopes be disappointed in the next step, when you try to initialize the drive through the "Disk Manager". First of all, it took a long time (like 4-5 minutes) with the program that 'think', finally launch one of these errors of the infamous 'cyclic redundancy. I rebooted, but the player was not there yet. And he never showed up again, just this time.
Sad thing is that I can't tell what makes the difference. I updated some things like the drivers of Intel chip, Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (not really necessary, I suppose, but just in case)... throughout this process. But in fact nothing in particular time it almost worked.
My ATA drivers are the most recent available for my chipset AHCI. Is there a driver I'm missing? Is there an impossibility for the 2nd HDD (PATA) to work with the SSD works in AHCI mode?
Well, I think it's all (sorry for the long post). Maybe someone has endured/solved a similar problem.
Please share your knowledge
Sorry for the confusion of information.
The HARD drive is a SATA drive and the optical drive is a PATA drive, so I used a caddy SATA-PATA. Something like that:
(Although the one I ordered is not the manufacturer)
Whereas, although the HARD drive is a SATA drive, it should be detected as a PATA one. Is it possible to make interfaces SATA AHCI as PATA work together? Is not in this case. Need a motherboard very ethusiast and advanced BIOS level.
[Edit: the chipset is, moreover, of the Mobile Intel 965 Express Family.]
Perhaps that the liaison has a cable better than purchased translation Setup. A lot of people seem to be satisfied with it.
The physical connection of hard disks must be of the same type for the reason that I expressed in my previous post, unless there is a translation of the work cable between SATA and PATA.
If your laptop has a double drive Bay and you have installed the drive in the Bay with a caddy and cable SATA cononector it would be simple.
My notebook, it is far too slow, ran a diagnostic hard drive test system. It is said
DST short: FAILURE
FALITURE ID:Q4KRA3 - 60D7Ge-MFGK01-60SP03
PRODUCT ID: A7J71LA #ABM
What I need to get a new drive or it can be saved?
24 short drive self-test error code would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced. This is also consistent with the problem of slow performance that you describe.
If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

Open the PC and look under the lower optical Bay. You might be able to adapt a 2.5 drive "to this place, but this could be a problem.
Otherwise, you can use the hard drive with adapters cage or lower optical Bay it is open also the use of adapters.
