  I'm trying to import the old videos from the camcorder into iMovie.

  Videos are played on TR33 Sony video 8 mm Handycam (analog) through a Sony TRV 22 Hi portable (digital) 8. This provides the necessary a/d conversion.

  There are a number of problems of running iMovie 11 under El Capitan, particularly with still pictures appears.  (It does not supports video 4K).  I recommend try iMovie 10.1.2 which you should be able to get in for free or may already have in your applications folder.  Although your camera model in particular is still not listed, I would expect it would probably work, and failing that you should be able to read files directly from the SD card if you put in an SD card reader.

  I think that the HDMI on your Air port was released only to screen external which is why you need the converter.

  I've got a few Video8 tapes from a Sanyo camcorder that's dying, so I bought an old camcorder Sony DCR-TRV480E to eBay which allows to capture Digital8, but also reading and listening to the Video8 and Hi8.

  I finally got the camcorder and tried to play back Video8, immediately, it changes the function of reading and my old videos with audio built-in to confirm and DNR view (s). All good so far.

  Then when I plug in my MBP 2011 (Yosemite) via the FireWire 800 port, then choose Import my camera (not supported) appears and plays video and audio beautifully when you click on "import".   It's really irresponsible response this manufacturer, cam.
  They offer products and they need to take care of you with that. It is logical that the recorded files should be open on every desktop or laptop PCs.
  According to their logic everyone who ACE this cam and who want to watch movies on PC should contact PC manufacturers support. It's really crazy.

  I don't know anything about this cam but normally you should have a few dist software with software that can help you to watch the movies or perhaps to convert files in other format and watch movies with standard players like Windows media player or VLC player.

  I have Sony camcorder DCR-TRV520E and in the past, I recorded several movies on my laptop.
  I used the Ulead Movie studio application and everything was OK.

  10 minutes ago that I tested it with Windows Movie Maker (Vista) too. Here a few facts:
  -My cam Sony is recognized correctly
  -Started Windows Movie Maker and chose the option IMPORT > digital video camera
  -Traveled in the right folder
  -On the next stage of the single application started rewinding videotape
  -Importing video has begun only and when finished I checked it and the sound was there.

  Later I chose the option "publish on" > this computer and after 20 minutes it was all over.

  I just use the firewire cable. Nothing special.
  I really don't understand what's wrong there.

The camera has two modes of zoom: optical / mechanical that has a priority, and digital which takes place when the optical zoom reaches the limit. When I am running in the optical zoom range, everything works almost fine (almost, I don't expect a perfect quality of ~ 100EUR product), but when the camera's digital zoom, crazy things happens with development. It takes sometimes > 10 seconds in order to reduce the strong image. The problem occurs even when I zoom digital range only (I'm sure, zoom bar is clearly cut out on the screen). Being configured to maximum already, internal zoom lens camera should not touch the lens in such a case, but he does. I asked a friend who bought the same model of camcorder. He has experienced the same thing.

If the answer will be "please visit our service center", I expect that (firmware updated) repair will be free as is plant bug present in all cameras with the same firmware, am I right?

  People say that Japanese companies dealing on the reputation and the quality of the products. I think that and wait for a response soon.

  I m really questioning the service guy who told you that who should have access to this firmware updates if it is the Toshiba service?
  Camileo H20 firmware is not available anywhere I checked the area EU Toshiba driver Options page and there is no such firmware.

  I guess you should replace the cam if the warranty is valid in the case that I put t think it can be fixed.
