  My MacBook Pro just died yesterday (logic board) and I want to install the SSD with the system on a Mac Pro.

  I just ordered a case to install the ssd drive in the machine.

  I wonder if I can boot directly from this SSD or if I do the previous setting in the system.

  Given that the Mac is able to run the latest version of Mac OS X, and you want to move the SSD for older Mac rather than new, it should work. I guess that saying you 'ordered a case to install the ssd drive in the machine' you mean connecting via USB rather than internally, which would be a great test.

  If it works, I would say running the combo for OS update comes on the SSD once it is installed in the older Mac.

  Sadly, this would be a very bad idea. You can upgrade the operating system on Mac computers to some extent (HCL), but you can not downgrade reliable, since the old OS doesn't know how to operate new equipment properly. As with Mac OS 8, which was designed for the Motorola 68000 and PowerPC processors, which have long since disappeared. There might be an around, like SheepShaver emulator, but the hardware (not only CPU, but the rest of the graphics) has changed so it will be just a novelty, unable to run quite efficiently if a game is playable on it.

  Mac OS is locked for Mac hardware. Some people supported the hack to install it on the hardware Dell, but its not recommended and certainly not taken. If you want something like Mac OS, you can install Linux since its essentially a commercial version of Linux.

  Windows 8.1 is recommended on this system and the system should have been delivered with Windows 8.1. 8.1 Windows has a default terrible user interface and this should be changed following the instructions here:

  Yes, you can use the installation of Windows 7 to qualify for the upgrade to Windows 8.

  You can then install Windows 8 on Windows 7 partition and dual boot with XP.

  For reference - if the computer had installed XP you could not dual boot with the help of an upgrade of Windows 8.

  In addition, to back up important data before installing a new operating system is recommended.

  The Gpu is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be replaced by a new. It's the same in most of the laptop, except with ultrabay who unfortunately didn't P500. You will need to change the motherboard to change the gpu and that too with the same.

  Brand CD Dell do not come with stickers.

  If you have used the product key sticker certificate of authenticity pasted on Dell PC case, you violated the EULA, because the OEM licenses are not transferable.

  If your client PC is also a Dell, and as long as the versions of the CD and the corresponding COA sticker (for example, they are both for Windows XP HOME), then you have not violated the EULA.

  Normally when you bought a Creative Suite license is good for one platform or the other, but not both.  Although you may have had some special license for school agreement.
