Can I recover corrupted iTunes media files via iTunes game?

I store my movies and music to iTunes on a separate hard drive. This HARD drive has just damaged. I thought that backs up files on Time Machine (which is on another separate hard drive) would allow me to recover songs, but this doesn't seem to be the case (begging the question - what is Time machine?).

iTunes shows me always the albums I have in my library, but of course cannot locate the real tracks.

So, can I sign up for iTunes game to repopulate the lost files?

You must set the Time Machine to back up any connected external hard drive.  The default setting for Time Machine is to back up the complete internal drive, but not a connected external volumes.  If Time Machine is set to save the volume of external hard drive with your support of iTunes, you can "go back in time" to a backup state when these files are not corrupt and restore them on another volume.

iTunes game "corresponds to" or upload your library iTunes music to iCloud, to create your iCloud library.  You can then download songs from your music to iCloud library in your local iTunes on the Mac.  But you must already have an iCloud music library with your songs.

The songs that were purchased from the iTunes Store can be downloaded again on the iTunes Store purchased free of charge screen.  To view the purchase screen, click your name at the top of the iTunes window, and then select purchases.

  • How can I make folders containing media files in Vista act as normal when files displayed in Windows Explorer.

Vista handles the media completely differently, and I hate it.  I want to deal with media files as normal files, so I can see, size, date, etc. All previous versions were very good.

Here's how to change the default template for a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html.  Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something).  Vista sets the folder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show how to reset the display settings for the Windows File Explorer, disable Automatic folder Type Discovery (which is I think what you want)and increase the folder display the cache to make Vista do not forget the display settings, the folder type template, the size or the position of a specific window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path.

It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the good File menu bar item. These don't seem to be able to have their size or their position to recall. For the latter, you can use the free program AutoSizer to resize them.

  • How can I recover my original data files on my 8 GB USB Drive, I used to run Ready Boost.

My laptop has Vista Home Premium.
Using the option "speed up my system" when I logged on my 8 GB Transcend USB, I've probably activated Ready Boost.
The USB was about 3.7 GB of data valuable personal (user - excel, word, jpg etc. files) also, but they are not visible or accessible more.
However, the USB shows through properties, 3.70 GB of used space.
Even after going to Option, properties of the removable disk, ReadyBoost, do not use this device, I'm not able to recover my original files.
    Help, please.

You can try to recover the data with data recovery software. If this does not work, the only other option is to send the drive to a professional data, which is quite expensive recovery company. Only you can decide how your "valuable personal data" are interesting. And it's one of the reasons why we do not use USB thumb as succession only permanent drives.

    Data recovery software:

    R - Studio - http://www.r-tt.com/
    Recuva - http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Professional data recovery - I use Drive Savers for my clients, but there are others. General prices run $500-$ 3 700 with an average of about $2,700. I understand that some insurance companies now cover the cost data recovery so check with your insurer.

  • How can I recover the index.xml file?

I can't open a document Pages I've recently worked on. I get this message: I can't open a document, I worked on. I get the message: the requested index.xml file is missing.  What should I do? Thank you, Miriam

You have two versions of Pages on your Mac and tried to open an incompatible v5 Pages document, while the Pages ' 09 still worked. You simply leave the Pages ' 09 (the purple ink bottle icon) and then double-click on the same document for it to open correctly in your version of Pages v5 (yellow paper with the pencil icon).

Normally stored in Users\yourname\then in different folders.

You can search for each media type extension, and then copy the files found in the external media (you must make sure that display the file extensions for known file types is turned).
  • Songs missing from iTunes game

I recently signed up for iTunes game, once they raised the limit to 100 k. I already had my Apple TV Gen 4 at this stage.

When I navigate to the 'My music' part the application of music, it shows only about 20% of my library in the list of songs. I tried to close the session and log in to iCloud on Apple TV, but it does not work. Is it possible to get Apple TV to update the songs available in iTunes game / iCloud music library?

Do you see the most complete music list when you use another device, like an iPhone, iPad or another Mac? If this isn't the case, then the identification process may have gotten stuck.

Assuming that the matching process has not finished - in iTunes, you can right click (or Ctrl-click, or two-finger click, depending on your pointing device) on a track or a selected group of tracks and choose "Add to itunes game" (I think that's what he said--I'm going from memory).

iTunes game has been known to sometimes get stuck on a specific track. If you can find one, you can temporarily remove it from your iTunes library and you can finish correspondents in the rest of your music. Looking for something weird (when it happened to me, it was the way that I "recorded" out of a stream by using something like Audio Hijack - it wasn't a piece of ordinary music CD or purchase). Or you can add music to iTunes game jackpots, when we fail, you can subdivide this lot in lots more small etc until reduce you it to the offending track.

That said, I had a problem the first time I used my Apple TV 4, even if my game library was great at 100%. I don't remember exactly how I solved - but I think that it was just sign out and then sign back (as you did) or restart the Apple TV, maybe both. I suggest try again, but make sure that you give the Apple TV in minutes to 'think' after disconnect you, and even once, when you log in. With a very large library, it may just take some time to complete - and if you rush this step too soon it could possibly cause problems.

  • How can I move the iTunes file that keeps track of plays on a new hard drive

I added an SSD for my MacBookPro and use it as a boot drive. I finally understood how to get the entire library of music to play without moving all the music for the SSD (not enough of space for everything), but I have lost all my game account.

There must be a file that lists all these information. Where could I find it? I tried to export the library but the iTunes on the new disc he did not recognize.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    10.11.6, iTunes 12.3.4.1

The file is the iTunes Library.itl file. This file guard track of everything in iTunes. And I mean everything. What kind of music you have, what has been deleted, playlists, play counts, ratings, date added, files, but a group which is not a lot of information duplicated in the tags attached to the media.

It is quite difficult to judge where exactly you are in this process because you don't have not said us what you did exactly. It's easy to make a mess of a library in doing things without knowing exactly how iTunes really works rather than how we think it works. You can try to copy this file .itl on the original to the new one and maybe drive he always knows that the media files are the original disk, but I'm not positive.

Just to let you know, using a library distributed in this way can lead to complications on the road and requires that begin you now learn the details of the operation of iTunes if you can avoid the problems.

On the iTunes library files - https://support.apple.com/HT201610 - does not mention that a complete library of work also includes other files and also files in the iTunes folder.

  • How can I recover iTunes library on an external hard drive

Stupidly I deleted my iTunes library earlier today and fight to get it back. (All purchased songs always appear but all songs imported from CDs are gone). I deleted the library and then empty the trash. I have a update on my external hard drive last night so hope I can restore my library iTunes from my external hard drive, but can't get it. Have tried, as a result of aid, online articles, but I do not get any further...

So far, I saved my iTunes backup folder on my desktop iMac. There was a suggestion to open iTunes, while holding down the SHIFT key (keyboard of Windows) and this should allow me to create a new library or open an existing one - none of these options appeared, my result was iTunes open normally and showing all my purchased songs. The other suggestion is to open iTunes - file - Library - Library to import the backup file, but also no results.

It seems it should be easy but... not for me to do something. Can anyone offer advice that does not suggest that I have to re - import all the music?

    Thanks in advance

    Truck

The file that you must replace is located in the following location.

    / Users/USERNAME/music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music

Just replace the one on your Mac with the library you want. Don't forget, it's only music, not any what other apps, videos etc., if you want to replace it, replace the entire iTunes Media.

  • How to import media files to iTunes and be able to delete files from my computer?

I have iTunes for Windows, and I downloaded the music downloaded on iTunes and remove them from my files. I got an error saying ".." could not be used because the original file not found... '. How can I download on iTunes without having to keep in my files?

iTunes keeps a local library on your computer. To avoid this problem in the future, set the iTunes preferences to "copy files to iTunes Media... folder. "and let iTunes"Keep iTunes media folder organized. »

With these settings, you can safely remove the 'original' files after import you them into iTunes.

  • Can I temporarily disable a program or change how a media file?

I have a file of meditation which allows you to play a few audio and show patterns on the screen. I had just downloaded in a saved file, a shortcut on the desktop and which would use to play the program.  I think he ran in Windows Media Player. Not so long ago, an Itunes program icon appeared on my desk. I don't know if it was automatic or I received a message to upgrade to another program, and who has been installed as a by-product. In any case, when I try to run this program, Itunes appears so there is no video and the file continues to repeat, or another audio file starts.  I tried all the settings in Media Player and Itunes (like ensuring that the repeat option was turned off), but nothing has worked. And instructions on these programs are very confusing.  I thought that if I could temporarily disable Itunes, things could go back to the way they were.  This isn't a very elegant solution.  Can someone tell me if I can temporarily turn off Itunes and how would I do?  I found no information on what in the index or on Microsoft sites.

Or did someone knows a better solution? It's not very elegant.

    Hello RGrannus,

ITunes opens it is because when it was installed it edited the registry entries shell; because when you open a program, windows searches the file extension in this database called a registry hive and these keys in the registry hive for the specific extension, are programs that open up towards the top of your file. Most likely, you can change this programme starts by going to the location where the actual file (not the shortcut) and right-click on it and clicking Open with. Here, you can choose from a list of programs or find a program and you can check the box always open with this program.

If these steps do not work, please reply and tell me which program you want to open with and give me this is the location on your computer, so that I can write to let you select a registry key in the registry.

  • What is the best suond of quality I can rip a cd with windows media player, which can be read by itunes

I'm putting my windows media files in iTunes to play on a stereo system.

I am after the best quality possible and do not want to be caught in the trap in appleworld but there is very little ipnut devices that support what anyone else than apple.

I also have a Samsing Galaxy SII I want to play music.

I, therefore, plucked a few CD in windows media player using WAV (lossless) format.

When I try to add a folder to library in itunes songs appear under unknown artist and I can't recognize the format.

Anyone know what is the best quality download I can do which can be dealt with by media player AND iTunes?

    Thank you very much.

    John

Why use iTunes AND WMP AND a Galaxy? Use one of them.

The reason for which you you hide it all under "Unknown", this is that wav files are not encrypted when you ripped them. You must add the titles to the hand. However, your Galaxy will not be able to read them.

You could rip as mp3 at a rate of 320 files - negligible loss of sound quality at a high rate, or as a file flac.

You can use a codec for WMP for files flac and I don't know if iTunes can read - I never use it for reading. Check the plug on the Apple site. Yet once, however, the Galaxy cannot.

However, they can read mp3 files, as can your Galaxy (I have a). To transfer files to the Galaxy its recommended to use Kies software (available on Samsung website)...

If you were to use a program like AudioGrabber (Google for it, its freeware) coupled with the Lame codec (follow the links on the site of AudioGrabber) then you can rip from CD directly to mp3 at a rate of 320 that WMP + iTunes + your Galaxy can read.

Hope that waffle above is clear,

    See you soon,.

  • How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore? my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore?  my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

I know they are there and hidden somewhere, but this restoration took my settings of the computer to 2004! We lost all our data, our software that we use to operate our company at home, our quickbooks that has all our financial data, family photos, videos, Outlook will work not so no e-mail, all turned in time and 6 years ' worth of documents have disappeared.

What happeneded was that I was trying to upgrade to quickbooks software when I got an error, I cancelled out of the facility, then restarted and that's when I got an error hal.dll something? I thought about a system restore would allow me to go back in time to just before when the error occurred, but he basically took my computer back to factory settings, so all the programs that I installed and paid hundreds of dollars for the past six years has disappeared, Microsoft Office and very expensive construction estimating software that we wil have to pay once AGAIN for If I can't get this program working properly.

    I am a fool! I can't believe what's happening.

Someone at - it instructions on how I can retrieve either the programs and data that I need specifically or how to go and seek shade from the files I read online on and restore my computer for about 12 hours ago?

    Thank you all!

    Sally in Georgia

Looks like you did a system rather than a system restore recovery.  If you have inserted a disc supplied with your machine and booted from it, you probably erased the disc and installed the original operating system provided with your computer.  Usually, a step in this recovery is to do a full format or quick of your drive.  If you did a full format, your data is permanently lost.  With a quick format, your data may still be there, somewhere but inaccessible by normal means.  Applications must generally be installed, in order to recover the files probably will not help unless you have the original installation media.  Your other data files (images, videos, financial data) may be salvageable, but at this point, it would be advisable to take your computer or your disk to a business/professional who is experienced with data disc recovery.  It will be cheap and there is no guarantee.

Impatient, remember investigate you a backup strategy for your computer and critical data.  Hard drives can go wrong with little or no warning.
