  It depends on which version of Acrobat, it is.   Your license is valid only for the platform for which it was obtained.  If it is older than the latest version then it is not a lot that can be done given that platform swaps are supported only for the latest version under license.  If the time CS6 products, you may be able to request the Exchange...

  You can not install CS5.5 Windows on your Mac.

  You need to either buy a new copy of the CS6 for your Mac or join the creative Cloud (and pay monthly fees).

  If you join the cloud, you can then install CS6 (and soon the CC version) on your Mac and Windows for the same fee.

  You can not burn directly to a disc of first, but you can still use the CS6 of still, certainly not safe for Windows version of the latest Mac OS.

  You can navigate to help > deactivate to deactivate Acrobat 9 machine Windows XP, you would not be able to install and reactivate it on Windows 8 but it is not a version compatible with Windows 7 and 8.
