Can only start a barrette of RAM at a time (2x4gb OWC Upgrade)

Mac Mini 3,1 (end of 2009)

2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Starting version: MM31.00AD.B00 (latest)

SMC version: 1.35f1

By OWC trials recommendation, I am trying to improve (1x2Go) 2 GB to 8 GB (2x4gb). Using of OWC8566DDR38SGP, 2 x 4 GB PC - 8500 S 1066 MHz DDR3 SO-DIMM 204-pin 1.5V.

I installed the 2 sticks of RAM and attempted a startup. I got 1 short message beep every 5 seconds saying 'No RAM installed.'

I removed a stick to see if the problem was a bad module or a bad taken, and the system starts fine and recognized 4 GB.  I swapped the sticks and started successfully again.

I moved the RAM of the outlet above the bottom and got the single repetitive beep of Post still. I don't know that means something, because it's been my experience that you must use the first taken, if you want to leave a vacuum. I'm guessing that the upper Bush is Socket RAM 0 in this case.

Then, I tried cleaning the contacts of the RAM (they were already clean). Then I tried to reset the controller SMC... This did not have much sense, since I had to have the supply cable to install RAM?... But, as I don't expect, no change.

Am I right in thinking this could be a conflict between the 2 sticks of RAM, even if they are of the same manufacturer and model? I think that the right MoBo is unable to initialize the RAM sticks together. Should I return them for a swap out and try a new pair of ram sticks? Or should I just go with another manufacturer? Someone else had this problem? Yes, I know Apple has posted 4GB like RAM max for this model, but the firmware supports 8 GB and testing has been done. Old news now.

Thank you.

Have you tried to reinstall the two original memory card?

If they still work, then call OWC.

I bought 2 x 4 GB of RAM for my Mini end 2009 BOF OWC and had no problem.

If the original memory does not, which means a hardware problem with the Mini. Maybe a slow was damaged during the installation of the new memory

Original title:-i can only start in safe mode

Ive tried to use several restore points but when I try to reboot the computer freezes and I have to start in safe mode

Safe mode is a mode where Windows works only the bare minimum programs and processes necessary to the performance of your system.  When you start in Normal mode, many more processes and applications running.  At least one of these programs or process causes your computer to crash.  If your task is to identify this program/process and, at least temporarily, to prevent it from running at startup.  Microsoft has a tool that you can use to selectively disable or or the process that normally run at startup called "msconfig".  It can be a long and exhausting iterative process of turning things off and restart to see if it you fixed program, but that's what you do:

First, disable all items "start-up".  If it does not, set it to 'Services '.  If this does not work, then reactivate some of them and try again until you zero - in on the culprit.

I have windows XP after the installation of service pack 3 I can only start in safe mode?

    Hello

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         What happens when you try to start in normal mode?

    Method 1

Windows XP can in every start Safe Mode by default. Even if you select the option Start Windows normally, it always starts in Mode without failure. IOW, you can't get out of safe mode.

This happens if the switch/SafeBoot is added to the Boot.ini file. / SafeBoot parameter forces a boot in safe mode by using the specified parameters. The available parameters are:

    (a) minimal

    (b) network

    (c) safeboot: minimal (alternateshell)

For more information about the boot.ini switches, see visualization and correction of the settings of the boot on x 86 systems

    RESOLUTION

    (a) click Start, run and type MSCONFIG

    (b) click the Boot.ini tab

    (c) If you have a dual-boot system, select the entry that is appropriate under the [operating systems]

    (d) in section downstairs, Startup Options uncheck / hisFEBOOT

    (e) click OK

    (f) restart Windows

The entry/SafeBoot are removed from the Boot.ini file.

    Method 2:

If the above method is not the cause, it seems that Service Pack 3 is not installed correctly.

Step 1: You try to run the system restore from safe mode that will repair return the computer to the point while it was working fine.

    Step 2:

Is it true that I can only transfer my license FPP windows 7 10 times?
What should I do if I reach the limit?

You can reinstall and transfer your Windows FPP retail as many times as you like - there is no limit.

However, there is a limit to how many times you can use the online activation. After awhile, you will need to use the phone activation when reinstalling.

Installation and reinstallation of Windows 7:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7

Activate Windows 7 on this computer

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/activate-Windows-7-on-this-computer

Case of failure of the online activation:

Call Microsoft use the manual phone Activation

Note: If you always install Windows page enter your product key, do not enter your key and uncheck the "Automatically activate when online" then click OK/next to complete the installation.

    1. open Windows Activation - click on the Start button, right-click computer, click Properties, then click the option to activate Windows now or change your key.

    2. click on show me other ways to activate.

3 type your Windows 7 product key, and then click Next.

    4. click on use the automated phone system.

    5. click on the location nearest you from the drop-down list, and then click Next.

    6. dial one of the available phone numbers listed.

    7. do not select all options and wait for a person pick up, then explain what happened.

Can move you to a new Windows 7 computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own qualification license XP/Vista/7). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

    Hello

Have you already checked the BIOS? How much RAM show the BIOS?
And what kind of modules you have exactly?

Normally, it should be possible to use full 4 GB of RAM on a 64 bit OS as your laptop also supports 4 GB.

Maybe you should also try updating the chipset driver. You can find it on the Toshiba site.

  • start-up after norton install fails can only start in safe mode

I don't know how this problem started, I got a blue screen on startup, start single icould my pc in safe mode.

The only way I could use my pc was to do a system restore.

At this point, I have lost Norton 360 v 3?

I contacted norton and they have been very helpful, they re-installed norton remotely.

they are just me to reboot my pc

My pc is restarted, I got the blue screen and could only restart in safe mode, I had to again, restore the system to get online and I lost norton, but the Startup icons are still there.

The problem may be caused by the incompatible Norton (Symantec) with the hardware or software you installed recently.

Uninstall Norton (Symantec) in Mode completely safe

    ==========================================

    1. reboot the computer and start pressing the F8 on the keyboard key. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, please press the F8 key when you see the boot menu.

  • Error starting XP - can only start in safe mode

I have XP with Service Pack 3.  When starting, I get the following message:

("We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully" it gives then five options: 1) start windows normally. (2) safe mode; (3) safe mode with networking; (4) safe mode with command prompt; and (5) last known good configuration.

The only option that works is safe mode.

Safe mode, I made several attempts to restore the system, without success.

I ran SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware, find no malware.  However, my antivirus program cannot perform a scan.

I have no connection to the internet.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Well done.

The savrt.sys file is a driver belonging to Symantec.  I think it stands for Symantec Anti Virus Run Time (good guesser).

It could be that you got some update that did not work completely or is not compatible with anything else on your system.  I spend too much time trying to understand it, I uninstall, download going again and then reinstall the latest version.  Maybe your cleaning program clean up too much or not enough.  What happened, you know what at least part of the problem is now you can work on fixing it.

You can see if you can get help from Symantec, but sometimes they tell you that your only solution is to resinstall XP or let them connect remotely to your system and run their tools and perhaps their 'Eraser '.  I've never seen a happy ending with these approaches, but you could see what they have to say.  They may not know immediately and exactly what to do.

If you paid for the Service, he came sinstalled or you got by your Internet provider, I would uninstall it making sure to use the Symantec unintaller who is here:

    http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20080710133834EN

The tool is an executable, so you may need to copy to your Internet system not using a USB key... or maybe someone else has other ideas.  I have not used all of the Symantec products in a long time.

You can click on start, run and enter in the box:

    Msconfig

Click OK to enter msconfig and see if you can locate all Symantec, NAV stuff in the tabs XP Services and startup and disable the (this does not uninstall anything) and see if you can boot normally and go online to download the tool.  I have just do one thing at a time and restart until you can start normally (sorry for the trial and error).  Make notes of what you turn off when you turn off something that is no better off so you can put it back.  Do not disable the just what you see in msconfig if you don't know what it is or is not obvious (look for the stuff Service or SYM).  I only remember that the savrt would be in the Services tab.

This also explains why you can boot mode safe too - Symantec stuff will not be loaded in Mode without failure.  Symantec/Norton is part of the affection.

Perhaps using Add/Remove programs to remove Symantec will work enough for you will get, but the Symantec tool must be run at a time to clean up the damage.  It must be a bit messy, since they had to come out with their own removal program (but a lot of antivirus provider it nowadays).  I do not like the installation of their products to see how it works these days.

I would like to use msconfig to disable as much as you can find a little at a time, then see if you can boot normally and get on the Internet.

Of you can just hang out and wait for other ideas for other ways to remove or to start normally.

What happens when you try to get on the Internet now (not to mention it doesn't)?

They you will need to decide if you can fix your Symantec or just drop out all together and use something else after this pleasant experience.

Some people really like their Symantec/Norton products, so I'll try not not too bad the bash.

Do not guess what the problem might be - understand and resolve it. I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!
