  • Can satellite U400-112 - I retrieve C partition only?

OK, so I want to recover my C partition only, and "Repair my computer" in the start menu does not work for some reason, I get an error saying: failed to load windows...

I have the recovery DVDs, but if I use it, it says it will restore my entire hard drive... !
Is there a method that will allow me to reset the C partition only to factory settings?

PS. I still have the factory Windows running.

    Thank you for reading

    # You can grab the C partition only if you start the procedure of recovery disk using F8 and disturbances of my computer.

When you use recovery DVD will be erased the entire HARD disk, partitions will be created, copied to the installation, and then the second partition recovery image will begin.

After doing this you will have own OS preinstalled and F8 option works again. Don t do something with folder HDDRecovery on the second partition. Best thing you can do is put the file in invisible mode and you have not think there is. If a problem occurs, you can install OS again and again. Of course only the C partition is removed. All data saved on the second partition will always be there.

For the moment, you have just one option back up all your important data to an external device and install the OS by using recovery DVDs.

  • Satellite U400 - 112 (PSU40E) - Safe BIOS upgrade - SOLUTION

    Dear all,

Trying since long upgrade for the bios of my laptop favorite... Toshiba Satellite U400-112 (PSU40E)
I have Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) English and BIOS version 4.00(until yesterday).
The problem was that, in windows 7 (32 & 64 bit), the tool flash never started the process of update due to several incompatibilities.
There is a solution (in fact a workaround solution) to be honest and works 100%!

    My solution is:

    (A) download the latest bios upgrade version appropriate for your laptop, save it (tomake it is easier in the root of the C:\ drive) and unpack it in a temporary folder (for example: bios).

    (B) use the Hiren's Boot CD a real support from a USB or CD (download and burn a CD or follow the process of CD copy on a USB key).

    (C) boot the laptop from the CD or USB flash and in Hiren's Boot Menu, select the version of mini Windows XP.

    (D) allow completely Windows XP startup and then run the tool to update the bios flash from the temporary folder. The update procedure make it exactly as it is described in the manual of the bios update. (If you are not experienced)

    (E) it will update the bios, and then he stops himself. Then you can start normally your operating system, remove any CD or USB key mounted on it.

I hope you find it helpful and convenient.

    Best regards

    Ioannis

To be honest I updated the BIOS on my U400 (running Win 7 32 bit), A210 (Vista) and Tecra A10 (Win 7 64 bit) using the victory as the BIOS version and never had any problems in running the tool
Anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community

  • Re: Satellite U400-112 - BIOS update error

    Hello

I have a Satellite U400-112 with Windows 7-64 bit OS. I can't upgrade my system v4.00 to v4.70 since windows or DOS.

Specifically, when the upgrade starts according to the file and then check it stucks without any progress. This error means the two versions (DOS & Windows).
I have a strong feeling that is a corrupted bios file. If someone can justify my feeling or a good file BIOS it is asked to answer.

    Thank you in advance,

    Ioannis

    Hey Buddy,

Update the BIOS of BACK is not possible because the updates are only based on the Windows.
In any case, what update BIOS error that you get exactly?

If you try to update, make sure that the value added package is installed. That s necessary for the program to update the BIOS.

But why do you want to update? Normally it of not necessary if your system works ok.

  • Satellite U400-112 - new graphics driver (Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset)

    Hello
I found the new driver for the Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset (driver 15.11.3.1576) on the website of intel, but I can't install it because it's not original Toshiba.
I'm doing this because we're on the website of toshiba is pilot about a year.

Does anyone have an idea how to install the latest driver for my laptop Satellite U400-112?

    Thank you

    Hello

Generally, you can install the drivers Toshiba not only at your own risk.
So if something will go wrong because of drivers Toshiba not then your warranty does not cover this.
So this was a brief info about drivers not Toshiba.

    Now how do I install the driver;
You can do so from the Device Manager. Go to the Device Manager. Choose the graphics card and to update the driver. Then a new window should open. Then, choose the Advanced installation procedure. Then choose don't search. I will choose the driver. Then point to the new Intel driver downloaded and applied.

  • Audio driver does not work on Satellite U400-112 with Vista 64-bit Buss

    Hello

I installed Win Vista Buss. 64-bit on my Toshiba Satellite U400-112 but the original driver for the Toshiba site does not work properly, honestly does not at all. The only driver that works is a winner. Vista driver but when I plugged in her headphones just got pregnant shape, but there is no sound in headphones.

    Can someone help me, please?

    Hello!

I have a Satellite U400 with Windows Vista 64 bit also, and I used the driver on the Toshiba site (Conexant 4.36.7.0).
It works without problems, I can hear sounds with the speakers and headphones.

Maybe you have an old BIOS. After the installation of Windows Vista, I made an update of the BIOS so try that too.
The BIOS you can find also on the Toshiba site.

  • Satellite U400-112 - WoW problems and the image is not good

    Hello!

My laptop is Satellite U400-112 and matching video Intel X 3100.

When I play in openGL, 3D graphics on minimum and the image quality are not good. The same situation with Direct3D even worse. I have a guess - the game not installed, I copied the folder with the game on another computer, maybe I need to reinstall? I installed the latest drivers for the video of the official website of Intel.

Maybe someone have the same problem and can help me to solve it.

    Hello

This only happens on the world of Warcraft or in other games too?

I'm a bit confused because you have set the minimum graphics and then you wrote that the photo isn't good in my opinion that's normal as the photo isn't good, if you play on minimum graphics settings.
Maybe you can post a screenshot screen or something else.

You also need to update DirectX version on your laptop that you can find on the Microsoft Web site.

  • Can satellite M40x-183 - I switch from XP to Windows 7?

Is it possible to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite M40X-183?

    Hello

Theoretically, you can do everything, but you know how old your laptop is? In my opinion Windows 7 isn't the first choice for good old classic. It of designed for Windows XP and you should be satisfied with this OS.

In my opinion, Windows XP is the best choice for old books, that they are not designed for Windows 7.

  • Can satellite U400 - I switch to a quad core CPU?

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite U400, and I was wondering if I could move the CPU on a quad core processor.

    * is it physically possible? that is, fit the plug? It seems that the Q9xxx and the T5750 share the same socket but maybe he ore other parameters to look for.
    * How can I check if the motherboard supports the Q9xxx? I should probably need a BIOS upgrade: what is the difference between a win32 and win64 bios? I could guess that has something to do with the target OS, but should I assume that the "win64" adapts to any OS 64-bit-ready (i.e. linux, * bsd)?
    * are there significant losses in the battery life?
    Thanks in advance

    > in any case, is there a way to check if the BIOS / motherboard supports a quad core CPU?
You will not find any information about the BIOS and CPU support on Toshiba pages.
The BIOS has been designed the U400 and CPU that is equipped with the U400 series.

I put t know which chipset your U400 is compatible but my U400 supports Intel GM965 chipset, and the Intel GM965 supports the same features as Intel PM965 chipset.
    http://www.Intel.com/assets/PDF/datasheet/316273.PDF

The Intel PM965 chipset supports the processor Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile for Mobile Intel 965 express chipset family.
The Quad core CPU is not mentioned. So, it seems that these processors are not supported!

    Cheers mate

  • Satellite U400-10 has: Downgrade from Windows XP Home edition

I got my laptop U400-10 for XP. Few things left pending:

    1. How can I get the LED on the top of the screen (and Satellite/power LED) to decrease intensity again by pressing the LED light on the top of the screen? Worked under vista. Cannot run Windows XP Home edition. Probably a Toshiba driver... but the Witch one?

    2. I get a Device Manager question mark in front of audio storage devices and mass HD. I checked the internet and it seems related to the HDMI port. But how to fix it? I can't identify the right Toshiba drivers on the page/download driver Toshiba.

    3. How can I get Bluetooth (with the standard windows drivers)? Bluetooth Monitor driver Toshiba form doesn't seem to work.

    Thanks for the replies.

    Concerning

    Hello

(1.) I think you could turn on and off the LED of Illumination in the BIOS.
But maybe it s not supported under Win XP.

    (2) some features are not supported by XP. This unit is probably the module of Robson former Turbo Memory. This material will be supported only by Windows Vista so there is no driver Windows XP.

    (3) possibly you have ONLY installed the BT monitor. It is a diagnostic utility, and if you want to use BT you need a driver of BT.
The BT driver can be downloaded from the page of the portal of BT or driver Toshiba

    See you soon

  • Can satellite A200 - 14 d - I install Windows 7?

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A200 - 14 d and I think to install Windows 7 on it.
I put 1 GB of additional RAM.

Is it possible to install it?
And if so where can I find the drivers for it?

    Hello

Theoretically you can install Windows 7 Why not? What do you think about this?

But in your case I would not install Windows 7 because it s only a beta version and can cause many problems. Moreover, I don't see a reason to install Windows 7. I am still using Windows XP and it s enough for me.

Normally, you can download the drivers on the Toshiba site, but for a beta OS you won't find not all the drivers on the Web site. If you're searching on external sites as Intel find some.
    Good luck.

    Welcome them

  • Can satellite M100-166 - I switch to 4 GB of RAM?

    Hello!
I have a Satellite M100-166 (PSMA1E-01X00TPL) with 2x512MB of RAM (DDR2). I would like to upgrade to 2x2gb, but there is a problem.
In the manual it says: "256, 512 or 1024Mo memory modules can be installed in two locations of main memory to a maximum of 2048 MB memory system"

    BUT:

    On the product page
    http://CE.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/supportMyProduct.do?LNG=20&service=CE#tab0;
(hotlink doesn't work, search for Satellite M100-166)

    Kingston Memory Configurator:

and even the product page for the Intel chipset
    http://www.Intel.com/products/Notebook/chipsets/945PM/945PM-overview.htm

According to them, that it should support up to 4 GB. Thus, it supports 4 GB or not?

    SSM
I am aware of the limit of ram / 3GB in 32-bit Windows, and I know that the second location of memory under the keyboard.

    Hello

I think that there are different configurations of hardware M100.
This means that different M100 supports different chipsets and that is why you can find various information on the upgrade of RAM.

For me, it seems that the Satellite M100-166 could be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM.
The chipset seems to confirm this value, it should be possible to get 4 GB of RAM.

    Hello

Have you tried to update the audio driver yourself? Please try to download and install the latest driver Realtek the Realtek Homepage. Install the new drivers and reboot the laptop. Now, you can try to upgrade again.

Otherwise, follow the instructions posted by Akuma.

But I sometimes say that drivers must be updated before you can upgrade to Windows 7 and by the way, it's maybe useful for you:

    Thanks for the reply

    Mario

    Hey Buddy,

You re right. After the download European driver Toshiba for Windows 7 64-bit are not all drivers available. I checked the downloads for Vista 64-bit and all the drivers you need are available.

Drivers Vista and Windows 7 are similar, then you can try to use the 64 bit Vista drivers. Most Vista drivers work on Windows 7.

In addition if something does not work you can use other Satellite A300 drivers for example. This laptop supports Windows 7 64 bit and the drivers should be similar, in my opinion.

    Good luck! :)
