Can system table space cause multiple data files in several places?

Hi experts,

Our current system has a partition to keep the system tablespace data files, but I assumed that the partition is wrongly estimated and the size was maintained only 2 GB. Now the partition's got full and it seems no way to increase the partition from the OS. The only option I have is to create the new data for system tablespace file in another free partition. Is this possible? I have to consider all things important before doing this? Also can I create new data with the regular create command file or need to do something special for system tablespace?

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can create two data files for system tablespace into two partitions.

To reduce the space in the system tablespace - you should check what are segments that occupy the space in the system tablespace.

To get the examples if you have the Audit DB - then you can move the table to tablespace someother depending on availability.

    Hi all

    We have RHEL4 server with oracle 10 g 2 inside.

    can we create a tablespace with multiple data files? I mean while creating a tablespace itself, we should be able to create two or more data files (should not use ALTER tablespace command).

    If possible, please give me the SQL to do this (assume that I need to create a tablespace with two data files).

    Only solution is umount the point of editing or the db bounce. It is because of 'SEMAPHORE '.

    Semaphores are sharable resources who take a non-negative integer value. They are manipulted by the P (waiting) and V (signal) functions that decrement and increment the semaphore, respectively. When a process needs a resource, a "waiting" is issued and the semaphore is decremented. When the semaphore contains a value of zero, the resources are not available and the calling process turns or blocks (if applicable) until resources are available. When a process opens a resource controlled by a semaphore, it increments the semaphore and the waiting process are advised.

    I try to help the developer on this, and it resists change to use external tables. Even if I can overcome that, I now have a puzzle I want to solve, just to add to my knowledge.  Plus, I have some concerns at this stage that whatever it is that miss me here could also come into play if I convert external tables.

    Ed,

    Are you sure that put you the post in the right place?  It should be located in the first definition of the following field each time after the first when clause clause.  Put after the first when the clause is optional.  When I use the following with what you have provided, it loads 1 record in the table header and 3 records in the Details table.  Did you actually do or tell your developer to do and wish that he understood and put it in the right place?

    Hello

I use the sub query to get the value of maxsize allocated in GB this until datafile that it can grow.

    Select maxbytes/1024/1024/1024 of dba_data_files where nom_tablespace = 'XXXX '.

    How to get the disk space available for the insertion of new records in a particular data file or a bunch of data files in a tablespace?

    Use

    select sum(bytes/1024/1024/1024) GB from dba_free_space where tablespace_name='tablespace name'

    Know schemae storage space

    select default_tablespace from dba_users where username='schema name';

    Know the perticular table tablespace

    select TABLESPACE_NAME from dba_tables where table_name='table name';

    Utimetly you will be insert in tablespace, little matter how many data file you have and how many girl and how many of them have the space available.
    So just to worry when the table space is saturated.

  • easy transfer can be used to reload the data files after formatting hard drive?

    I have been informed by level microsoft 2 I have to reformat my hard drive to fix the problem with windows backup (snapshot won't work).  easy transfer will copy all THE data files, including OUTLOOK 2007 on hard drive and then I can reinstall on reformatted drive.

    Easy transfer copy some things but not all things. He does more that can make a simple copy/paste (such as the settings for example) but, for example, not programs transfer (those who need to be put back in place).  Here is a description of what it does (and does not): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928635.  It will transfer Outlook 2007 PDF files and other personal data if they are selected - you need to know which files you need and where to select them - but it won't transfer the program (which must be put back in place).  It must be run before you reformat the hard disk to collect data and then you can transfer everything what you have registered once the system is re-installled.  You would do the re-setup prior to the transfer.

    I hope this helps.

  • Can a vDR device cause multiple backup destinations?

    I tried adding the shares network, adding that a different network share seems to remove the network share previously implemented at which the current backup operation is set.

    I want two shares of different network for a device with two jobs vDR, each backup operation goes to a different network share.

    How can I do this? 1.2.1 using latest version vDR.

    Alternatively, if each camera vDR can talk only to a single network share data store, I can set up another camera vDR.

    Thank you, Tom

    CIFS is not a recommended destination and can be much slower. If you want an accessible destination I would add a couple of NFS shares as network data warehouses. Then add a normal VMDK unit vDR. You can do several (more than 2) virtual machine backups but as I've mentioned before that you will incur the trouble to write the cbt file for each additional backup done.

    I'd do more simple a test you can against 2 or 3 small VMs. run multiple backups. Check the speed of the restoration. Decide if you can live with the speed of the restoration. I'm not sure that this is the most appropriate use of the vDR unit.

    -Export / Import

    -Redefining online using the dbms_redefinition

    -resize datafile

    According to the business and downtime, you have, you can consider on one of them.

    I have a button on a form and based on the value of an element, when clicked, pages must be accessible. Is this possible to do? If so, any ideas are greatly appreciated.

    Request Express 3.1.2.00.02

    It's pretty simple to do using conditional branches. Create a branch to the place of the appropriate branch (for example on submit: after treatment...) for each target page and series PL/SQL Expression condition for each branch:

        :request = ''
    and : =

    its replacement by < button_name >, < nom_element > and < item_value > with the values appropriate to your application (and change the '=' in the expression of the agenda if some other condition is used). The integrated attribute REQUEST contains the name of the button that submits the page.

    I realize that this post is old and the OP seems to have made a validation and then disappeared, but Recovery Manager (RMAN) is probably the best place to ask this question.

  • How to get the default path of the data of a table space file

    I used below the sql statement to create a table space:

    CREATE A TABLESPACE DATAFILE AAA BBB SIZE 10 M AUTOEXTEND OFF...

    Notice, I do not give a full path instead of a file name, and then ask questions relevant to tables

    get the full path of the data file, assume that it's path below:

    d:\oracle\...\BBB

    So I don't think that there is a default path that oracle can use it to create the data file. My question

    is how to get this default path before creating a table space.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

    I did similar simulations for you, then it could be seen easily:

    SQL > Show parameter db_create_file_dest

    VALUE OF TYPE NAME

    ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------

    db_create_file_dest chain

    SQL > SELECT NAME, VALUE OF V$ PARAMETER

    2 where lower (name) = "db_create_file_dest;

    NAME

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    VALUE

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    db_create_file_dest

    It has the value NULL. Then where my datafile is going?

    SQL > create tablespace TEST datafile 'test01.dbf' size 10 M;

    Created tablespace.

    SQL > select file_name

    2 of dba_data_files

    3 where nom_tablespace = 'TEST ';

    FILE_NAME

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    /U01/app/Oracle/product/12.1.0/Db_1/DBS/Test01.dbf

    When you check the alert logs, it will not show you the location of the data file. It will tell you what exactly you ran.

    ..

    ..

    Completed: drop tablespace test whose content and data files

    create tablespace datafile 'test01.dbf' size 10 M TEST

    Completed: create tablespace TEST datafile 'test01.dbf' size 10 M

    ..

    ..

    You can not SQL user * more? Well, I would say that, when you run the CREATE TABLESPACE command, is where you run the command:

    SQL > select file_name

    2 of dba_data_files

    3 where nom_tablespace = 'TEST ';

    FILE_NAME

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    /U01/app/Oracle/product/12.1.0/Db_1/DBS/Test01.dbf

    So, you should get the location of your data file. Alternatively, you can run the query in the parameter $ v so that you know your default data file location.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Gaetan
