Can't set up wireless Deskjet 6840 to brightbox Router 2

I had my Deskjet 6840 connected and printing wirelessly through a netgear router, but EE upgraded me to 2 Brightbox.

I connected the printer with an ethernet cable and it works fine.

However, when I download and run the installer HP Deskjet 6800 series on my Windows XP machine and try to set up the printer to print wireless using the router, two things happens:

1. the installation software ends with a 'serious mistake' and restores

2. If I try to change the settings during the installation process, the Setup Wizard rejects my password/WEP key as invalid before you even attempt to use it.

Can anyone help?

I solved it!

This article gave me some clues:

http://www.TechSpot.com/community/topics/HP-DeskJet-6840-network-problems.177199/

I printed manually the configuration of the printer using the HP help page:

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.prp_ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c00207484-1%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.tpst=ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01&ac.admitted=1393605670408.876444892.492883150#N102F7

Print a Network Configuration page

Prints the page with detailed information about the settings and wireless and network status. It is available in English only.

  1. Make sure the printer is on and idle.

  2. Press and hold the button to report Page.

  3. Press the button cancel four times, and then release the report Page button.

Then I typed the network address in my browser to go directly to the configuration of the printer

Under the 'Network' tab, I launched the wizard and confirmed my SSID

On the next page, he asked the WPA password and explained that it could be numbers or letters

Here's my problem: the standard password provided by EA included hyphens!

I connected to my router and removed hyphens from the password

I entered the new password in the wizard for the printer

    AND IT WORKED!

  • How can I set Up Airport Express with an existing router/modem from the ISP

I have a wireless modem/router ISP and I want to get the ability to use Air Print using a non-Airprint but the USB printer. I suggest you to connect the printer to the Airport Express A1392 Epson) via a USB port to enable the AirPrint features.  However, I guess the Airport Express must be an ethernet to the modem/router ISP connection and then use the Epxress airport more convenient than my wireless router.

    Issues related to the:

    1. do I need to turn off the function the ISP router's wireless when I plugged as stated above? So I wait.

    2. as the Airport Express only has one ethernet port I assume that I can connect my other ethernet connections using a hub 4 ports connected to the Airport Express Terminal.  It will be always possible to use other ports ethernet on the modem/router ISP as well?

    Doug

I have a wireless modem/router ISP and I want to get the ability to use Air Print using a non-Airprint but the USB printer.

You may have received incorrect information, because a non-AirPrint on the USB port on an AirPort Express Terminal... or any other router from Apple also printer... do not make the AirPrint-compatible printer.

You want to continue nevertheless to check that this is true?

The AirPort Express can connect to the network wireless router using a wireless connection... or... it can connect to one of the router's Ethernet ports using a wired Ethernet connection.

Wired connections are always preferable wireless if possible for your Express.  Turn off the wireless router is not necessary if you want to connect to the Express using an Ethernet connection.

    Hello

If the instructions that you need a cable then you need a cable. On several printers now, you don't need USB cable for Setup (that's why many boxes do not have) and you can run the installation on your computer or a button on the printer.

    Kind regards.

  • setting up 960C to a wireless deskjet

I'm new to this forum and would be recognizing any help in the right direction. I just bought an edition four HP Pavilion DV7t and a model of wireless n Linksys WRT160N router. I set up my wireless network and it works very well. However, I would like to connect my HP deskjet 960C printer to the network but I don't know where to start. What do I need and what I need to re - configure the printer?

Sorry, but your printer has USB connectivity only and your Linksys router does not have a USB port on the printer.  You can add a Linksys Wireless print server, but for the same or a little more money you could buy a printer wireless (with scanning and copying capacity).

You're stuck with plug it into your computer.  If other computers want to share the computer with you, this is possible (with varying degrees of success).

Real printers wireless (with scanners and photocopiers) are very cheap these days.  You want some recommendations?

To make to support wireless now, you have more material according to your existing network and it would cost more to buy a printer Wireless ready right now.

  • Can I set up my printer with USB port and wireless?

Yes, you can connect your printer wirelessly to the top and the USB. If you have 1 computer connected to the USB printer, you can also download the software and drivers for computer #2 and wireless connection.

On the printer, you will need to put it on the network (router).

If you need assistance, please be sure to ask. You can connect several computers to the wireless printer, but could only be plugged into the USB cable.

    Hope this helps everyone.

I can connect via Ethernet, access web servers integrated, and they accept the DHCP addresses. I can't have them set up to print from my computer (all Mac under OS 10, some 9.2.2 on). Wireless printing is not an option due to network security problems, so it is my workaround does not work. I tried different drivers, but all do not see the printer when I try to add. They work fine via USB on the same computer. Any advice would be appreciated.
