CAN´t Time Machine restore photo library

Hi all

I upgraded to the El Capitan Yosemite. Before I made a backup of the files I wanted to with Time Machine, among them was the photo library. Everything went normally, when I tried to reset the library, 'walk back' in Time Machine, I selected photo library file and began to recover, but whenever I do this operation he reached a certain point and opens the Finder error message, as shown in the image below.

I tried to copy directly to the disc and it pops up the same error. Already looked everywhere and still cannot find a solution. I already have all the permissions.
None of the solutions encountered solved my problem.

Translation of the error message box: "Finder has not completed the operation because it was unable to read or write data to"Biblioteca do Fotografias.photolibrary".

(Error code - 36).

  • Lost in Time Machine restore photos

At the end of my wits. This is the second time that this has happened. After you erase and reformat my hard drive, restore partition I restored a backup of all my files that had been made a few days earlier Time machine. It LOOKED as if all went well, but now I find that one of my Albums, which had well over 150 photos, or iPhoto has only managed to restore 14 of these photos. And this is the most important. As I say, it happened the last time I did this kind of restoration as well.

After I did the Time Machine in the system restore, I was prompted to rebuild the iPhoto database and did, and I was also invited to "import" all of my many boxes to the letters and their content in the mail. So far, it seems that IT worked, but as with iPhoto, most of whose albums DID restore entirely, or at least seem to have done, I fear that there are losses latent God knows where.

I pray that someone can explain to me how this could occur and how to fix it.

In addition, why in the categories among which I must choose are there no category for Time Machine?

Update: some research, the first under the spotlight by a file name the closest to one of the 14 who in the appropriate album, and then, after trying manually drag some of those in the album and being rejected because he claimed that the pictures were already in the iPhoto library, I opened all of the photos in the photo library and finally understood how to sort them by title. And there were all these «lost photos» Try and then drag them into the appropriate album, I have had no joy. It simply wouldn't do. So, I created a new album without title and was able to pass all these photos in this one and then re-name-the.

So, obviously, it is random random sort by Time Machine, put pictures in their albums proper during a restore. Does anyone have an explanation of why this would be the case? If I didn't have a photo of survivor in the game with a title to be used as a means of rallying defined overall in the undifferentiated photo album, I would have needed hours and hours to track them all, and if I had not known instantly that many disappeared after restore, this album, I would never have known even to go look for them.

Of course, one would expect time Machine to do what it is supposed to do in a situation like this?

  • Time machine restore applications?

    Greetings,

I intend to make a new OSX update on my iMac 24 mid-2008 ".

Forgive my, if this was already asked.

What is the preferred method to do a clean install, and

the time machine restores all data, the user accounts and applications?

    Thanks for your time.

Make a backup, best 2 separated on 2 discs. Start of recovery volume (command - R on a restart, or hold down the option/Alt during a restart and select the Volume of recovery). Run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no error. Reformat the hard disk using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS extended (journaled), then click on the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the operating system.

When you restart, use Setup Wizard to restore your data.

the time machine restores all data, the user accounts and applications?

It can if you choose to do so.

As a plan B, I download the Mavericks from the App Store and the program below allows you to create a bootable USB key. If the Mavericks will not restore, you can do the same from the Flash drive.

  • Win 7 hangs after Time Machine restore - Fusion v8.02

New to the group, but a user of merger for a long time on a MacBook Pro 2009.

It's a little complicated, but here are the facts:

I have experienced a complete hard drive failure but had the system saved Time machine. After installing the new drive (Samsung 850 EVO SSD, 500 GB), I installed Snow Leopard from a dvd. I then did a restore from Time Machine since the last backup and most things worked very well. However, when I started Fusion (v8.0 at the time), I got the blue screen of death in Windows 7. After a few attempts, he found a remedy that helped win 7 to start normally and everything seemed to work fine. So I decided to upgrade the OS to El Capitan, and I'm back to the blue screen of death of Win 7. Nothing I've tried has worked to get Windows started, I can't start even in Safe Mode.

I tried a manual uninstall complete Fusion 8 and reinstalled, but no change. I don't have much on the partition for Windows, really, just 3 programs I can not run in OS X, no storage data here either. Time, as I see it, I have two choices: 1) do an another Time Machine restore and downgrade of El Capitan by returning to the previous configuration. (2) do a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 and Fusion.

If there is a way to just do a reinstall of Windows, I'm ready for that, too. (However, since the upgrade of the El Capitan I can't use the optical dvd drive with all disks based on Windows... already reported)

    Any help would be appreciated.

As a follow-up, not long after my post, I get a call from VmWare support. (I submitted a ticket) Most excellent service. She takes control of my computer remotely and speaks to me through a new facility and a new virtual machine. I had downloaded a new version of Win 7 for installation and all went well.

During the conversation I forget I wanted to install Win 10, but my system was apparently not compatible due to a graphics card or driver. She informs me that she has a solution for this and I am trying to install Win 10.

    Besides the support of VMWare!

  • Time machine restore bugs too?

I have MacBookPro Early 2015 with ElCapitan 10.11.4 installed on it. Offlate, MBP started erratic behavior, to be insensitive and frozen in the workplace.  Do not take the keyboard or touchpad controls.

I took the latest TimeMachine backup.

My question is if I restore the Mac with latest TimeMachine backup, he would restore the bugs too? If Yes, then what is the method to solve the bugs. And then, what is the use of Time Machine restore?

If Yes, then what is the method to solve the bugs. And then, what is the use of Time Machine restore?

The easiest solution is to simply remove the software that is causing the "bugs".

The system itself and not operating not cause the problems you are having. They are probably caused by third-party software, but could be a problem with your trackpad or hard drive.

I do a lot of work on the web and I have a ton of bookmarks that I use to maintain sites. I lost all!

I tried to install a new copy of the program and restore the file Mozilla from the library to the user (in time machine), but all I have is a white space where was the bookmarks bar! I also have a problem trying to re-enter manually all bookmarks. I can open the bookmark drop down, but I can't save all bookmarks. Firefox don't mark all new pages. I still all the passwords in the preferences if I don't want to install a new copy of the program and lose these.

Are there other system files that Firefox uses that I can restore the backup to solve the problem?

  • restore from Time Machine lost iTunes library

My system crashed and I'm having a hard time folding files of TimeMachine.  It is not very intuitive, if you ask me.  When I try to restore my music library, it tells me that I can't because "she is required by OSX.  In general, I'm quite unhappy with iTunes and the difficulty of storing music where you want.  Now I seem to have lost my whole library that is not on my iPhone.  Any advice for how to get back what I lost and a different program to go would be appreciated.

You try to restore iTunes (the application) or you go to the user music folder to restore the library?

  • Can I optimized the HD with the help of a time machine restore?

I recently deleted all my data from my Time Machine and then started fresh with a new full backup.

QUESTION: This new backup Time total Machine in any way "optimized" - perhaps the data is better organized on the disc?

If so, then if I now erase my HD and restore from this new fresh backup from Time Machine, that would be good?

I started to believe some computer unfounded myths and urban legends?

Thanks for any insight of this.

No and no. and do not really.

You will get no improvement whatsoever.

  • Cannot restore photo library

A few weeks ago, my 2010 Macbook Pro began to reboot itself every hour approximately. I ended by wiping and restore with my Time Machine on my Time Capsule backup if the problem was still there.

My second option was to back up all my files to another disk, then restore again, with a clean slate with my important files. However, when I imported my 80 GB library of Photos (Photos Library.photoslibrary file), it is said there are only 358 photos, not the 20,000 or that I know that I have. I did this once before where all I have to do is select the photo library file in the app Photos and Walla! I have all my photos. It did not work this time.

I tried to restore it with the Time Machine backup again if she has the same problem (only shows 358 images). Currently, I'm sitting with a new installation of El Capitan and a 80 GB Photo file. What can I do to fix this?

    Already tried:

    -Repair of the photo library

    -Reboot Macbook

    -New installation of El Capitan

-Using an older photo library file saved in my Time Capsule

-Upgrade to Mac OS Sierra because why not try when you're desperate?

Any ideas/solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this. My photo library dates back to 1997, so anything will help.

My second option was to back up all my files to another drive, and then restore again,

How the DHM has been formatted and connected to your Mac.  It must be formatted as shown in this screenshot and connected by cable:

One thing you can do is to open the restored library package

and look in the folder of masters to see if your original files are there or you have the 358 Photos or if you have all of them.  Do not make changes, just watch and get an idea whether they are there or not.

  • Time Machine restores very, very, very slow!

Hello! After a will using Time Machine for backup of my stuff, I m now in the need to restore the library. Yes, all my memories are gone, due to the said Photo library can´t be use more. So I decided to do the restore, but after 4 days, I only got 200 GB to 240GB total. I m using an account 3 to hard drive, which is connected to my 1 Gbit switch. I m using an iMac (27 inch, end 2012) 3.2 GHz i5 with 8 GB of RAM DDR3 1 TB hard drive, which is also connected to the same switch. According to my lack of knowledge the iMac ethernet card is also 1 GB. So, once again, according to my knowledge, I should have + 120 MB/s transfer rate, but the glance that I had was 25 MB/s.

Another interesting fact, is in the same room, I have an old PC running Windows 10 and transfer files from the same device of account to this PC, I can get 90 MB/s transfer rate.

So, I m wondering if there are some networks relate to configuration that I need to do in order to make the most of the account with the iMac using time machine. Of course I have doc all research with the support account but, since the 'question' it seems to be linked to Time Machine, they push me in that direction!

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Diego!

A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine, especially if it's your only backup. I know that's not what you want to hear. I know that Time Machine accepts the device as a backup destination. I know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and I also know that it usually seems to work. Except when you are trying to restore and find that you can't.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification. They all use the application of Netatalk incomplete, obsolete Apple Filing Protocol.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

Otherwise, use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to save, although none of them are nowhere near as effective or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.

If you are determined to continue to use the device with Time Machine, your only remedy for any resulting problem is the manufacturer (who will blame Apple, neither you nor anyone else but herself.)

  • Time Machine restore, most of the alias icons are broken?

I recently restored the system of Time Machine, but my alias (for most) have broken images.  If I copy the aliases, they are all fixed, but I can't do it exactly for each alias on the machine!  Restoration of the alias of Time Machine seems to have the same effect.

Is it possible for the shot to solve this problem?

I tried several solutions, compensation resolved cache:

    Deploy sudo rm - rf / *.

    sudo rm - rf ~/Library/Caches/*

    Reset

If I had known what specific cache which is held the icon broken, images that would have been better.  It turns out that only some of the specific sizes were broken, which explains why the icons seem to appear and then disappear again on another page.

  • I moved a folder of bookmarks in Safari on my desk to alphabetize it but could not move again. Now, Time Machine restores not Safari where I started. Restoration is grayed out and the office keeps - not editor of bookmarks. TM works well.

I tried to move a subfolder of my bookmarks folder to alphabetize it moving it on my desk. It worked, but I couldn't get back in Safari. So I tried to restore the Time Machine Safari but it brought back my desktop and the button restore is gray. I am running Yosemite on one end of 2013 27-inch Mac. Time machine seems to work ok on other issues.

You can only restore the entire file of bookmarks to a previous state. It is not possible to restore the individual bookmarks.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    ~/Library/Safari

    Quit Safari.

    Select

    Go ▹ go to folder

in the Finder menu bar. Paste it into the text box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.

Should open a folder window. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in this folder from a previous backup of the changes unwanted.

If you don't have such a backup, but the Favorites are still present on an iOS (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) device that synchronizes with iCloud, then see below.

Save your iOS devices. Turn off sync iCloud Safari on all devices except those. Quit Safari and delete the bookmarks on the Mac, and then enable synchronization Safari on it. Launch Safari. Bookmarks synchronization of your iOS device.
