Cannot access files after using recovery system (vista)

Recently, I had some problems with the computer and had to consider having a new video put card in and done a system recovery.  I saved all the photos, documents, music, etc. on discs and did the work.  When I got the computer home, I loaded the discs on the computer and appears on the desktop a shortcut to a system recovery.  Unfortuantely, I'm unable to access all of the files.  I get an error of media player, my photos, say, I don't have permission to open, my documents will not be open.  I am the only user on this computer.  I am admin on it.  I have no idea how to make files to open and I really need to get them into a large number of them that relates to the work.  What should I do?

Hi GypsyMama,

You may need to take ownership of the files, and then try to open them.

I hope this helps.

  • Cannot access files on hard disk on windows xp, after I worked with it on win 7.

Cannot access files on external hard drive on windows xp, after that I worked with him on Victory 7.I can see the file, but he says "is not accessible. access is denied. " Can someone help me?

As you can guess, this is a permissions problem.  Here, it makes a difference if you have XP Home or Pro you have to safe boot mode to change permissions in the House.

My crystal ball says that your external drive is formatted with the NTFS file system.  When you connected to Windows 7 (or any other computer besides), the files have been added that this user permissions apparently understood that only Win 7 has access to.  There are several ways to handle this...

Is to save on all your files and reformat the external hard drive with a FAT32 file system and then support files.  You will have no problems of permissions with FAT32, but you can't have any higher than 4 GB single file either.

Another way is as an administrator, to 'Ownership' of all the files on the disk
"How appropriate a file or a folder in Windows XP"
but this could get old if the drive moves back.

Yet another approach is to give "Everyone" full access to everything on the drive.  This may or may not protect against new folders or files added, but may be worth a try:
As a user administrator, open a command window:
    Start-> Run-> "cmd".
    Then, enter the command:
    CACLS E:\/t/e/c/g everyone: F
(where I am assuming that your external drive is mounted as "E:" - change of real player)

I hope that something more top is useful...

  • Cannot restore files after reinstalling Vista

My problem is that doubles 1. Everything I know about building and nothing about computers and 2. When I had trouble with my Word program, IE. It took 10 to 15 minutes to load, someone suggested that I reinstalled it to try to solve the problem. There can be no. Then, he suggested I have reinstall full vista I did. He asked if I wanted to back up my files, to which I answered Yes. It took several hours to install fuly and when I got home he had finished and almost nothing on the screen except a few editing base.  He had of course saved and everything saved on the hard drive somewhere, I had a friend TI to throw a glance and he was not at all familiar with it. But he had found and restored in a file named "bob."  But the big problem is that I can not open an any of them as file extensions are unknown. I really need to bring them especially my photos. My backup of records were destroyed in a fire of the site office and all the photos of my partner who died since in a car accident, were there. So close they are tempting, but cannot display. I tried to Microsoft to take over my computer remotely and sort it out for me, but may not return to the right place in the vast world of Microsoft.
Anyone can help, but it must be in plain English and not the computer language.
    My computer is a Dell Dimension 9200 and vista is small business. ;

    Hello jonowlbarn,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Before you reinstalled Windows Vista didn't have you backed up your files? If so you back up your files on the same hard drive that Vista has been installed on?  If Yes, then performed reverse would be erased when you remove Vista.  I added some information below for that matter.  Please let us know status.  Thank you!

To make sure that you do not lose the files you create, edit and store on your computer, you must save the regularly. You can back up your files any time or manually configure automatic backups.

Note The ability to set up automatic backups is not included in Windows Vista Starter and Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.

    1.

Open the backup center and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then click backup and Restore Center.

    2.

Click back up files, and follow the steps in the wizard. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

No backup files on the same hard disk that Windows is installed. For example, to make the back not files on a recovery partition. Always store media used for backups (external hard disks, DVDs, or CDs) in a safe place in order to prevent unauthorized access to your files; a separate fireproof place of your computer is recommended. You can also consider encrypting the data on your backup.

    Hello

The files should still be there if you can log in with an account Admin look in C:\Users
(Where C: is the drive where user profiles are what is C: by default).

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. Also the ADMINISTRATOR account of
Safe mode has no password by default unless someone has changed.

    Other methods:

Use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK then go back
and reset it to the Admin APPLY/OK - this clearly allows corruption. Do this several times. Do the same for others
accounts that may be difficult. If necessary you can also reset your password in the accounts.
Do not forget to leave your Admin account and the other to the desired level.

Make another Admin account with your password and use it to fix the others if necessary. (just for
repair, don't use regular account, not a safety valve) always keep a spare ADMIN account.

DO NOT LEAVE THE ENABLED LSA OR USE DAILY. If it corrupts you are toast!

How to enable or disable the real built-in Administrator account in Vista
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/67567-administrator-account.html

You can run the Admin account hidden from the prompt by if necessary.

  • Local access only after the Network Systems Security 2009 malware removed

I'll try to put all the details that I can here, but my laptop that has the problem cannot connect to the Internet so I won't be able to copy paste n info. Last week, I was struck with the 2009 malware security systems. It was a pain to remove because it stopped all the work programmes and I could not install malware removal software. Finally beat him by renaming the main program folder 2009 for the security of the systems. That he has stopped working when I restarted the laptop and then I was able to install the malware removal software and took remoped.

Here is the problem. Now that he is gone my network connections wireless and wired no longer work. I get local access only on an unidentified network. I have Windows vista Home premium and use internet with a modem model Cableone cable Motorola Surfboard SB5101.

Then I called a cable tech support first and they could not help and after all the service works very well on my desktop the same modem and connection. So I called Motorola tech support and they had me do a lot of things for hours (including reinstalling the drivers for the modem) on the phone without effect. Finally, they suggested that I have re-download all ACER Aspirion z9410z drivers and reinstall them. So I did it. Copied to a flash of my desktop drive and reinstalled them. No luck.

The respectable and sharing Centre, explains that the modem works correctly when you look at the status. But the auto for windows diagnostic tool says to check the IP settings automatically and reset the network card. The two fail to trouble when ran. Here are all the parameters of the network connection.

    Physical address: 00-1A - 66 - AA - 64cB
    Active Yes DHCP
    Autoconfiguration IPV4 address 169.254.195.250
    IPv4 mask subnet 255.255.0.0
Net Bios on active TCP/IP Yes
    Link-local IPV6 address fe80::1878:12 d 5: a566:c3fa % 36
    Servers of DNS IPv6 fec0:0:0:ffff:1 1%
    FEC0:0:0:FFFF:2 1%
    FEC0:0:0:FFFF:3 1%

IPv4 and 6 are defined automatically detect the IP address and the DNS.

Hope that gives enough information. There no mater if I use eithernet and USB to connect or wireless. I have the same problems.

Another thing that can be part of the problem.

It started after removing the systems security 2009 malware as well.

When loggin, turned off the laptop, a blue error screen appears. Here are the details generated for it. I'm working on the research of which the question is to be set by the online search.

    Event name BlueScreen
    OS version 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
    local ID 1033
    BCCODE one

    BCP4 82028768
    OS version 6_0_6000
    Service Pack 0_0
    product 768_1

I hope I will get this fix as well.

Any help will be greatly apprieciated. If more information is required only, let me know and I'll get it.

    Thank you all.

    Hello Oxilas,

I suggest that you use a friend/co-worker Vista DVD and do a repair installation.

    Repair facility:

You can reinstall your copy of Vista while keeping your files, settings and programs by performing a repair install or an upgrade on the spot with the following steps: (Note: this still does not resolve all problems, especially if the corruption was caused by a 3rd party program or service, you may need to do a clean install) (if this is not successful.)

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

Please make sure that you back up all the important data before you continue. Please visit: methods for your backup files.

Always make sure that you have the means to reinstall your programs, or by an installation disc or access to the installation files.

    <><><><><><><><><><><><>

    1. Insert the Windows installation disc in your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.

    2. on the Install Windows page, click install now.

    3. on the get updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get the installation updates.

    4. on the Type your product key for activation , we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key in order to avoid problems during activation.

    5. on the page Please read the terms of the license , if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms of the license.

    6. to the which type of installation you want? page, click upgrade to begin the upgrade. You can see a compatibility report.

    7 follow the instructions.

Note: If your installation disc doesn't include SP1, and you are updated, then you must uninstall it before proceeding with an update install. Start-> Control Panel-> programs-> see installed updates, then select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows and click on Uninstall.

Note: Tit the following settings is reset by default:

    Its computer system

    Device drivers

    Visual effects

    Windows Mail

    Windows services

If you notice missing files after the upgrade, look in the following folders:

    C:\Windows.old

    C:\$INPLACE.~TR

    C:\$WINDOWS.~Q

These files can be eliminated with disk cleanup as "records destroyed by upgrade to Windows".
