Cannot activate Windows XP after motherboard change

I had to adapt to a new motherboard and cpu after the cpu has failed and a 'repair installation XP', now when I click on 'Yes' to activate the wallpaper is displayed but no activation screen. That leaves us stuck.
Is my disk XP home SP2, but we had downloaded SP3.

When to enable Windows WPA performs a check of 10 points as follows.

The WPA system checks ten categories of equipment:

  1. Display adapter
  2. SCSI adapter
  3. Adapter IDE (actually the motherboard)
  4. Adapter network (NIC) and its MAC address
  5. Range of amount of RAM (0 to 64 MB, 64-128 MB, etc)
  6. Type of processor
  7. Processor serial number
  8. Hard drive device
  9. (VSN) hard drive Volume serial number
  10. CD-ROM / CD - RW / DVD-ROM

If WPA determines that a number of components do not match original checkpoint (if Windows was initially activated) it will require you to call Microsoft for activation. You will receive a 42-digit type. This will reactivate your copy of Windows.

To start the Product Activation Wizard:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click on all programs, then Accessories.
  3. Click on System Tools.
  4. Click on Activate Windows.

In the Product Activation Wizard, follow these steps:

  1. Click use the telephone system automated to activate.
  2. Click on the dropdown menu, select the nearest location to you and then click Next.
  3. The Microsoft Product Activation Center telephone number is displayed at the top of the window.

    Hi Jarska,

    ·        You did changes to the computer recently before the issue started?

    ·        If your computer came pre-installed with Windows Vista, or you don't have it installed separately?

You receive this error 0xC004E003 when the Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed on your computer. You can access the link below and follow the steps in method C and check if that helps you solve the problem of activation. If the C method does not work, you can follow the steps in method G and try activation using the automated phone system.

Type Activate in the Windows 7 search box and click on the Activate Windows icon that appears at the top of the Start Menu.  Then enter your genuine Windows 7 product key for the edition of Windows 7 you have installed.  If you do not have a genuine Windows 7 product key, you can buy one on the Microsoft Store. • My product key"is to upgrade only" so now I can't activate Windows 8 after spending $70

Two weeks I upgraded to Win8 of Win7. (PS my laptop is not originally mine so I do not have the Win7 drive). Last Sunday, Windows could not update and crashed my system. After trying in vain to get help from Microsoft (and accumulating of the phone bill), I changed my hard drive and freshly reinstalled Windows 8. Finally I was in business... only that now my product key will not work. She is a straight key, but after several hours (and a bigger to my phone bill) I said that my drive is "for the upgrade only' and cannot be used for a clean reinstall. What? 1. what happens if someone doesn't have a disc with another OS, as is the case with me? 2. why I didn't say me that when 'redeveloped '? 3. what happens if someone has hardware problems and is forced to reinstall their OS, as was the case with me? The "backup drive" I was sent not supposed to work? What is the purpose of the "backup disc" then? 4. should I spend more money, even though I have yet to get the service I was looking for? 5. off topic a little: why Microsoft keep train to transfer me all over the world to say 'we can not help you. You are in a different area? Microsoft doesn't know how it works? Holy crap. No wonder that piracy is so popular.

You can try this fix from another thread:

Brilliant, wonderful human being named BinaryInk has reported the following:

"Work around it, although probably not officially supported for obvious reasons (they want more money), is to change a registry key." It was published for the keys to update Windows 7 do the same thing on a forum (although I had an updated version AND a clean installed SEVERAL times without having to do) but worked without problems on my laptop under Windows 8 without worrying.

    1. run the registry (regedit) editor
    2. look for the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OOBE
    3. change the value to "MediaBootInstall" from 1 to 0
    4. open a prompt (run as admin)
    5. run the following command: slmgr-rearm
    6 reboot

If you have already entered your key, check the activation: for me it has already been activated and I need to do nothing more. Otherwise, type activate windows and type the key. It should work. Also, do you a favor and export this regedit key and save it somewhere if you are required to do a clean install. I know I did. »

  • Envy dv7: cannot activate Windows 10

A customer brought me a computer laptop dv7 want who came originally with Windows 8.0. He said that he had updated to 8.1 of Windows, then Windows 10. He wanted to transfer the machine to a parent, so doing a factory restore to 8.0. He brought to get me back to Windows 10. To save time, I did a clean install of Windows 10 and he pointed out activated. Now, a few days later he said that it is NOT enabled. After talking with Microsoft, I was told that I had to get the license key Windows 8.0 original of the motherboard anchored an entry like the license key to activate Windows 10. I have no idea how to get that key and reading that I've done, HP is not likely to be helpful on this. I even tried Windows 8.0 and 8.1 OEM key I have in stock, but they work no.  I'm open to suggestions and/or assistance on this.

OK, finally found a utility called RWEverything that will allow to recover the built-in license key. Windows 10 still wouldn't turn on, so had to communicate with Microsoft. With this key, they have been able to check and activate Windows 10 for my client.
