Cannot add or remove files and folders to my favorites

Since I transferred my favorites from my old computer to my new computer, I can't add new files in the folders I had, or remove files or files that were in the list.  If I use the option "Organize Favorites" to delete a file, I get a dialog box titled "file Access Denied".

However, I have no trouble to add new folders or files to my favorites.  I also found that I can move the files from the old list of my favorites in a new folder, but to do this, I first get a dialog box titled "File Access Denied", saying: "you will need administrative permission to move this file.  In this box, there is an option to 'continue '.  When I click on 'Continue', I get another dialog box titled 'User Account Control' saying ' you want the following program to make changes to this computer?  When I click on 'Yes', the file is moved to the new folder.  This is all very frustrating.  Hope you have a solution for me.

I have Windows 7.

Thank you

Mary

P.S. is there a tool to repair/reinstall just a specific part of the registry? aka. Replace the folder hidden by default?

    Hi Nicolas,.

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: Check if the following registry value exists.
    a. Click Start, type regedit and press to enter.
    b. look for the following registry:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
    Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
    c. click the SHOWALL folder in the left pane and check if the CheckedValue element is present in the right pane and if the value set on this is 1.
    d. If CheckedValue element is missing in the right pane, and then right-click in the empty area in the right pane, click New-> click on the DWORD (32 bit) If your computer is running 32-bit Windows, 64-bit by clicking another value.
    e. name the item that you created as CheckedValue.
    f. double-click CheckedValue element and type 1 in the value data box, and then click ok.
    g. close the registry editor and restart the computer.
    h. turn on hidden files and folders to see if it works.
Important: Modifying the registry incorrectly will cause serious damage to the computer. Back up the registry until you make changes.
Step 2: Online virus scanner and check the result
    a. visit the Scan of viruses online
    b. click full service scan and complete the scan.
    c. restart the computer once the analysis is complete.

  • Remove the lock on all files and folders...?

There has been a lot of questions on how to remove locks on folders and files on Windows 7. Those I've read on this site worked and the lock can be removed easily.

... However, you cannot do a folder/file at once. I have a lot of items on my desk, and more than half of them have these locks on them. How I removed the locks on all files and folders on my user account. There are only 2 accounts on the computer. Mine and another person. Mine is set to the administrator account, the other is just a standard user. I started by ignoring the locks for months, then I tried to get rid of them by myself, and frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing. Please, I beg you. If you know of a way, share it!

If the locks would not constitute an obstacle to operations, why bother?

And BTW, it; s no need AT ALL to run as an administrator on a daily basis in Windows 7. Forget everything THAT you have learned about XP - Win 7 is much more advanced.

You realize that the built-in Administyrator account is disabled by default, and if it is possible for him, that may be beyond what you're comfortable with?

Create another Admin account, call the Admin or Tech or similar and give it a password. Let this accouynt for the elevation of access and privilege of emergency and activate your account for daily use in a Standard user account. Your computer will be safer that way.

  • How to set, view, change, or remove special permissions for files and folders in Windows XP

It is a problem with iTunes. About 8 months ago I had to reinstall my operating system. When I reinstalled iTunes, it does not recognize my music already purchased. He tells me that songs should be allowed, I put my username and password and it tells me that they are allowed.

So I finally emailed Apple support recently. They suggested that this is a problem with the permissions on the iTunes Media folder. Apple support gave me the following URL address: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308419/en-us.

I followed the instructions on the Microsoft support site. But when I right click on the iTunes Media folder, and then click Properties, there is no security tab, with the following statement on the Microsoft Support site.

I also tried the instructions for "If you are not joined to a domain and want to view theSecurity tab. "In Control Panel, I don't have the choice of themes & appearances. There is a choice of Folder Options, but once in the view tab, there is no choice ofuse simple file sharing.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

  • Cannot copy files and folders to another folder

Whenever I try to COPY a group of files and folders 1 folder to another folder, Vista wants only to allow me to MOVE them.  What is my problem?

Select the files to copy (using the command CTRL to select more than one non sequential order) and once they are all chosen type CTRL-C.  Then move to the folder where you want to copy and click header file and type CTRL-V.  Perhaps this method of copying files won't work where others do not.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot select a record in the Get pictures from dialog files and folders in PSE/Win7/64 bit

    Hi guys,.

has anyone seen this problem and I hope a solution...

I test just PSE 7 on Win 7 64 bit.

When I try to import photos in the Organizer, using Get Photos from files and folders, I propose in my pictures folder (which has subfolders 324 - one for each session).  When I (single) click on one of the files (except the first), the dialog box flickers, scroll bar on the right is growing and the subfolder does not get selected. When I scroll down, I see that some recent subfolders are missing from the dialog box. When I repeat this procedure a couple of times, all that remains in the dialog box is the first subfolder, you can still select OK. It seems to be related the number of subfolders, as other records do not show this behavior.

I tried to install the latest graphics driver, I tried with PSE 8 trial, changed the looks of the folder to all possible options (thumb small, big, detail, etc.), changed the program for Windows XP SP2 compatibility, no change...

This same machine worked on the same exact file OK with Win XP and 7 PES.

    Advice would be useful...

    Thanks in advance

    Tomas

  • Hidden files and folders

I have questions about the hidden files and folders. I hope someone can give me the right answer that will be only one of the four that I would ask.

    Q. hidden files or folders cannot be seen by any user?

    Q. is visible by the main user

    Q. is using by operating systems for its work

    Q. don't are not usually published directly

The answer may be only one of these options.

    Hello

By default, some files are hidden.  If some of these files are edited, moved, renamed, or deleted, you could damage your operating system. They are hidden for a reason.

    Q. hidden files or folders cannot be seen by any user?

    A. you can see hidden files if you wish. Here's how to display.

    1. Go to the start menu and type options records.
    2. Hit enter or click on the result.
    3. Go to the view tab.
    4. Under hidden files and folders, select display the drives, folders and hidden files.
    5. Optional: If you wish, you can uncheck Hide protected (recommended) operating system files.  I'd keep that checked if I were you.
    6. At the bottom, press apply or OK.

    Q. is visible by the main user

    A. If the user follows the instructions above, they can see it.  So the answer is no, everyone can see the hidden files and folders.

    Q. is using by operating systems for its work

    A. most of them is.  For example if you remove one of your hidden personal documents, the file is not critical for the operating system.  If you delete system32 (do not remove it!)however, Windows stops working immediately.

    Q. don't are not usually published directly

    A. the personal files (photos, documents, videos, etc.) can be changed.  Operating system files can not be changed.

If all goes well, which erases any misunderstanding.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Not be able to share files and folders over a network home

I am more able to share files and folders across a network, consisting of a Windows 7 and Windows XP computers, and a Samsung TV. I have a number of files and folders that I can see on all devices. I followed the process of file sharing in Windows 7. When I do the final step, it I cannot click on the share button as the window disappears when I click on Add. I even put other files in a folder that I see on other devices. I can see the original files, but not the file that I just added. When I right click on the properties of a file or folder, the sharing tab does not exist even if I tried to share it. What Miss me? Thank you

    Hi Petem,

    1. which antivirus program is installed on the computer?
    2. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

This problem may occur if the firewall blocks or settings for file sharing is not properly activated.

Method 1: I suggest you try the steps from the following link:

    Sharing of files and printers

    Method 2: Disable the antivirus

Note: Microsoft does not recommend that you disable the antivirus protection in most conditions. Disable the antivirus protection that temporarily to restore a computer.

  • 'Read only' look for files and folders

I think a virus entered in my computer and changed 80% of my documents and files in a 'read only' appearance, even if they are still available to make changes and can be saved with the changes. This has happened after the repair of the system by restoring to an earlier date.

    1. Why do you have this happen: was it really a virus?

    2. How can I go back to the previous 'typical' aspect of the documents and records?

    Hello

What security program is installed on the computer?

Method 1: Strange behavior could be due to the virus.

Since you can now access files and folders, you can run the virus scan just to be sure.

Here is a link that will give you information on how to perform a full scan of the system:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Method 2: You can also check:

You cannot view or change the read-only or the attributes of system files in Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
