Cannot back up the system after KB980408 & KB975496 updates

I was not able to back up my system because these updates are installed. I have a portable hard drive that is only a few months old and was performing perfectly.

I normally backup with an image of the system and the C drive per week, the image of the backup system fails with the message:

"The system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002) »

    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    If SafeMode doesn t you nothing and sometimes viruses destroy the system roll back function.

    I recently did a Windows Update on my Win7 laptop and the resolution has been reduced from 1280 to 1026. So now, I have a screen size of 1024 and a black band on the right side of my screen.     I hear your frustration. It is a driver problem. So, lets get set for that (I hope, your BIOS is OK). What is happening is that your system resets with the incorrect driver. What you need to do is to 'disable' (not uninstall) the driver of 'bad' and use only the correct driver. That you should be able to do it via the Device Manager.

    Try this approach and see how you rate. Once you can get the 'good' driver to work properly, then and only then we will get rid of the 'bad' driver (uninstall).

    I read on some of the similar problems regarding "standby" mode and the black screen.
    Someone suggested to update the BIOS and the display driver

    So I highly recommend it too much
    See the European driver of Toshiba page, choose the model right for laptop and try to update the BIOS, then the display driver.

    Reboot the laptop and see if the problem still occurs.
