Cannot change my brightness laptop

Hi all

So I recently noticed this problem in my laptop and whenever I try to change the brightness low or high it does nothing and I try to the shortcut key and the laptop brightness settings but still nothing. (btw, my laptpo is HP Pavilion g6 windows 7)

Thanks for providing this information.

Remember you have downloaded an AMD/ATI graphics driver for the AMD Web site or anywhere other than your driver HP Page? Sometimes non-HP-OEM graphics drivers may cause problems with brightness.

It would be helpful to know what version of the graphics driver you have installed currently, for Intel and AMD Radeon chips.

Latest graphic driver Intel version 8.15.10.2559 - relatively new

Latest graphic driver for the AMD Radeon in version 8.882.2.0

If your versions are less that the version numbers shown above, go ahead and download the latest appropriate version.

Also, I'm not sure that it is a problem of shortcut keys, but I would like to just exclude it. Download and install the last pilot of access keys, software framework HPand HP Power Manager utility.

    Hi Tobias,.

THCI.dll is the code for the application of the function of Toshiba key that is used on your laptop to control the selection of Fn key. You will need to install the utility Toshiba control of your tools and Utilities CD (or download from the Toshiba Download Page).

Shortcuts keyboard console appears and pressing F6 or F7, the brightness is always set to level 1 (no matter how luminous monitor is really) and cannot be changed.

  • Satellite P855: cannot change the brightness of the screen under Linux

    Hello, guys... and girls :)...

I bought my PC Toshiba laptop fourth - P855, there windows 7 pre-installed, but I'm a fan of Linux, so I installed Kubuntu 12.04 on it and have the dual boot menu at startup...

And I have a very annoying problem - I can not change the brightness of the screen somehow, so keep it up... for the brightness function keys do not work, and the slider for brightness change anything...
It works on windows, so I guess that's not the hardware problem...

So, can you help me? ... I tried many things, tried different distributions also, but on none of them, I am able to change the brightness. And also - I tried the same distribution on the different laptops, and it works great, even from Live CD, no installation...

I was able to change the brightness on previous phones I had... so why is this one so well done for Windows? ...

    > It works on windows, so I guess that's not the hardware problem.

It's okay is not hardware problem, it looks like a bug in the Linux kernel or driver problem.

Given that Linux is not officially supported on Toshiba laptops, I would recommend checking the support forum for the Linux distribution you use check also system Linux bugs for a possible solution on some linux support pages.

  • X 1 yoga - cannot change the brightness

I just got my thinkpad yoga X 1 by post a few days ago and he is stuck with a maximum brightness. I tried to change the brightness by using the shortcut keys and controls for brightness in the bar of tasks and settings. The brightness meter will change the percentages, but the brightness of the screen does not change.

I did a factory reset, as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers to display/video and moniter. I did a back roll of these drivers to the generic version as well.

I called tech support and they said it is probably a hardware problem, and I have to send it in for repair, which is frustrating for a new laptop. I could rather Lenovo to send me a new replacement?

In response to the customer reports that the brightness of the screen can be controlled via a key entry on X 1 Yoga ThinkPad, Lenovo has released a fix. The patch is a registry change to restore this function.

The patch can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118463

A permanent fix will be delivered with the Intel driver in a future release.

    Thank you

  • Satellite L450D - cannot change the brightness of the screen more

I was wondering if someone could help me. All of a sudden, I noticed that I can't change the brightness on my laptop what so ever. I don't know how long it has been like that but its pretty boring.

I am currently running Windows 7 Home premium on the laptop just for information. I tried to change in power management and try to change the management of the real power, and pressing fn + f6/f7

Any help would be appreciated with gratitude

    Hi telford_boi,

Can you notice other work of Fn keys or just the screen brightness doesn't work more?

In your case I would try reinstalling the package of value added. It controls the FN keys you want to say and all these special functions. You can download it here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Before installing the latest version, delete the old first, please.

  • Satellite L40 - 12 k WinXP - cannot change the brightness of the display

    Got Toshiba Satellite l40 - 12 k laptop.
Running Windows XP Pro. The problem is that I can not change the brightness of the display even with hotkey utility for Win Vista installed. But if I'm in the bios of these keys work fine. Even when I started these keyboard shortcuts from gParted Live CD worked fine.

But when I boot Win XP they stop working. So if I want to change the brightness I have to restart or hibernation, the time to change display BRIGHTNESS level because he remembers the last burst upward. So what is the problem? Don't tell about the hardware optimized for Vista, but not for other OS.

When there will be avaible vor Win XP drivers? OK I understand it's MS that has the problem to a normal BONE, but well guys it is so big problem to run under XP?

The funny thing is that everything else works fine and all the drivers I needed, I found in the homepage of Intel. So can hope on a support user, because now I know that it is not hardware problem because even a Live CD of gParted worked these keyboard shortcuts?

PS Sorry for my bad English.

    > So what's the problem? Don't tell about the hardware optimized for Vista, but not for other OS.

Unfortunately, you are right. The XP is not compatible with the BIOS on the L40.
Several different sets of Toshiba supports two different BIOS for XP and Vista.

The Fn keys does not work because the BIOS does not support the XP completely.

I think that you will not be able to use the FN key pressed until the BIOS and drivers needed for XP will be released.

    Hello:

Have you installed the utility intel chipset installation and graphic drivers intel?

If this isn't the case, these two install and reboot the computer after each installation.

This package contains the driver and Intel Chipset Installation Utility for the notebook models and operating systems. This utility allows the operating system to show the correct name for the Intel hardware that is installed in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.

    File name: sp72068.exe

This package provides the driver that allows graphics Intel high definition (HD) in the notebook models that are running an operating system supported. If the video output of high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

    Hello

Two months ago, I bought a dv3t 2000 and recently I installed windows 7 and I realize that it is not possible to change the brightness on the screen, is always the same. I tried to change the power management, I have upgraded the BIOS, but so far, does not work.

I tried all the drivers of hp, but none of them solved the problem, but after searching the Web, I happen to find a solution to the problem brightness screen... now everything works the way that is supposed to.

It was just to install a new version of the 'Mobile Intel (r) 4 Series Express Chipset Family"from Intel, the driver provided by HP seems to have a problem.

    Thanks anyway.

  • Cannot change the brightness of the display on my Qosmio X 770

    I don't know what happened...

After I bought the laptop (X 770-107) computer I each time improved to 7 Ultimate, then I joined a domain network.

After a while I can't press the eco button, he said that some options cannot be changed...

Now ive had the problem... If I press F7 oder FN - F6, nothing has changed in my shine... the display is always at full intensity...

Can you give me a tip, what can that do to change this?

You use own operating system preinstalled, nobody know us how you did that.
You didn't inform us of what you did exactly and now you want a tip.

Sorry buddy but if you want to have serious discussions here please provide more relevant information.

Generally if you have installed all the drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities on track you have to work. As I wrote already I put t know what did you exactly. Maybe you put something.

One more thing: until you have upgraded the operating system you have packed the recovery DVD Toshiba s recommendation? I don't want to say you come later here and cry because the installation of HARD drive recovery will not longer work.

  • Satellite L855-124 cannot change the brightness of the display after Win 8 upgraded

    Hi all

I have a problem with my laptop Toshiba Satellite L855 - 124 PSKACE.
After the upgrade to Windows 8, I can't change the backlight brightness of the screen of the laptop.

There seems to be an error in the graphics driver.
When I install the AMD graphics driver of Windows 7 in compatibility, it works again, but bugs on other areas.

    Anyone have any ideas?
Even after you use the upgrade wizard provided by Toshiba, it does nothing.
Also the drivers for my laptop are not updated. From 2012.

I called tech support, they told me that a pilot team is going to be fixing the issue.
    That was 2 months ago.

Is there anyone from Toshiba which can help me with this please?

    Thank you.

    > When I install the AMD graphics driver of Windows 7 in compatibility, it works again, but bugs on other areas.

So, it looks like a problem of graphics card driver.

  • Satellite A210-1BX: XP Pro SP2 cannot change the brightness of the display

    Hello

    I have a 1BX A210 and I installed XP Pro with Service Pack 2.
I have almost all the drivers one moment I can't use the FN keys so I can't change my screen brightness and the battery life is less than 90 minutes.

With Vista, the duration of battery life was less than 100 min.

Is there another driver, I need?

    > I have almost all the drivers one moment I can t use the FN keys so
I wonder where you found compatible and support the XP drivers for this laptop?

I asked it because I ve a laptop computer A210 too which belongs to the series PSAELE like yours.

I have collected unique different A210/A200 series XP drivers and especially all unknown devices disappeared from the Device Manager.
But unfortunately I didn't find any compatible tool/utilities for this series :(

But the fact is that Toshiba driver page does not have all the drivers XP and Toshiba Satellite A210 PSAELE tools.
This is why you will not be able to control and use the keys FN under XP OS

Sorry, but in my opinion there is not a lot to do
