cannot change the brightness of the screen

Hello

Two months ago, I bought a dv3t 2000 and recently I installed windows 7 and I realize that it is not possible to change the brightness on the screen, is always the same. I tried to change the power management, I have upgraded the BIOS, but so far, does not work.

I'd appreciate if someone help me with this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Maurice

I tried all the drivers of hp, but none of them solved the problem, but after searching the Web, I happen to find a solution to the problem brightness screen... now everything works the way that is supposed to.

It was just to install a new version of the 'Mobile Intel (r) 4 Series Express Chipset Family"from Intel, the driver provided by HP seems to have a problem.

Thanks anyway.

  • Cannot change the screen resolution. Help, please

I recently reinstalled Windows XP (service Pack2) on my computer and restored the office to the factory settings. Now, the screen resolution is stuck at 640 x 480 and 16-bit color quality as this was not a problem before. The screen that appears under 'type of screen' in the advanced settings menu says "default monitor" and the properties button is not clickable. I tried to connect another monitor to the PC, but it doesn't help. Can someone help please I really need to change the resolution of the screen to a higher quality? Also, the PC has an internet connection if that makes a difference. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

... What other drivers in addition to the graphics card and network card should I try to install?

In fact, those who are newer than your current drivers.

I understand your reasoning for installing the monitor driver, however, I'd personally chipset (motherboard), video, audio and network (LAN) first. After updating the video driver, there is a chance that it recognises so the screen correctly.

I don't know if you have reinstalled Windows XP from floppy disks to install Windows or Dell installation/recovery disks or partition restore hidden, but nevertheless, the drivers that were installed during installation is as new as the installation media. Given that the media are at least 5 years and more (maybe 8 years and more), there is an excellent chance that all the material and device drivers have been updated.

  • You cannot change the screen brightness once I downloaded 8.1

Hi all, I have a Pavilion Touchsmart and a 23 inch model, I've purhased in August of this year.  It was great to work with Windows 8.0.  Well, two days ago, I had the brilliant idea to update to 8.1, which was a big mistake.  The brightness was full and he says 'off '.  There was no slide to regulate.  After taking for Geek Squad at Best Buy, they couldn't do anything.  They have tried to put in the drivers and nothing has worked.  Then, I took the computer and called HP.  They also can't solve the problem.  This is a real joke, I can't control the brightness on the computer so now I'll go to Office Depot to get an anti glare screen, as we we.  It's absolutely amazing and no wonder people didn't go to Apple.  Any thoughts on how to remedy this situation?  Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Please report the number of HP for your PC product.  You will need to give drivers of Windows 8 and updates of the possible bios validated for your PC a try if Windows 8.1 drivers are not counted.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If the above does not fix it:

Go to the Web site of the manufacturer of your card for laptop / computer graphics / > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > looking for the latest graphics drivers for Vista > download/install them.

    Then:

    Change the screen resolution

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.

  • Cannot change the power state of VM: cannot...   (VMWare Workstation 7 on Debian Lenny)

Hi all, I am new to this community. I recently installed VMWare Workstation 7 on a Debian Lenny (kernel 2.6.26.2 - amd64). I had no problem with it, but when I tried to start a Virtual Machine Windows Vista, which I created it, does not start. Error says windows "cannot change the power state of VM: could not find a peer valid to connect to". "" Any idea, please?

    Josber.

It seems that the virtual machine has been suspended when your host is using a different screen resolution

either change back to the resolution that you used when you suspenmded the machine virtual or delete the VMS.

This will force the VM to do a cold boot

  • Cannot change the password using the question of security in l/min.

We have an identity server. We have a lost password management application. There is a webpass and a webgate configured for the application of the LPM. The mode of communication is simple. The forgotten password feature does not work for the application of the LPM.

    Steps to re-create the issue
    --------------------------------------
-In the form of connection, the user clicks on "I forgot my password"link
-User enter 'User ID' and then click on submit
-It redirects the user to a page of challenge question, the answer to the question the user and click on submit
-The next page confirms the user had correctly answered the secret question. And invite the user to enter the new password, retype the password, and then click Save
-When, click Save shows "cannot change the password. The screen is refreshed. The new password is not saved.

    Identity & Webpass - 10.1.4.2 BP08 Server version

    Thank you.

    Hello

For the LPM error "cannot change the password" check if you set a "minimum age" in the definition of the strategy of password.
"If you set a minimum age of 2 days for example, the user will not be able to change his or her password before 2 days after the initial setting of the password and you will have 'identity/oblilx/logs/oblog.log' shows: ERROR 0 x 00000901 lost_pwd_mgmt.cpp:264 'cannot change password' loginName ^ xxxxx" in oblog.log

--> In our POC password minimum age has been set, and we have forgotten that we have in him... This is why we hade this error on the LPM scenario...
--> After setting the minimum age to 0, the scenario LPM works every time

  • Good for laptop - cannot change the ISP; keep returning to a previous provider

Windows 7 laptop of my grandson, I'm migrating FIREFOX (excellent resource!) of my aging XP desktop. An existing Mozilla installation on the guarded device tries to connect to an ISP in Sydney (1000km) which kept out, I guess because the signal is too weak. Too far - on the Internet?

Reinstalled my new ISP contact, reinstalled a fresh copy of Firefox, copied the old profile XP (just underneath the random string file name), but cannot change the fault. Firefox at startup tries to raise the old ISP (Sydney) and expires, and then allowing me to establish a manual connect with the ISP (my current) new.
Perhaps a clue: in my Firefox troubleshooting info, change preferences, the browser start page is the address of 'old', with 'override mstone' ignore, what look like prints of registry entries, but I can't change all that - and maybe it's wise! An annoying secondary question: on arrival, the laptop listed no administrator user. So I am me came as an administrator, but I wonder if a past or current even Admin hidden could register (or other) entered resistant to change.

Late discovery: the laptop is apparently infected with browser pirate btsearch.name. Search Google throws a series of removal procedures, and I'm now working through them.
    What Miss me?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one.
