Cannot complete startup on Satellite P300 repair

Hi all

This is my first post, so please be nice. :)

I have searched posts and google for ideas but am not coming up with all erases responses pertaining to my question.

For several weeks now, my laptop was very slow and crashes when you use quite often cause me to have to manually stop the unit by holding the button for 10 seconds.

This eventually led me to restore my unit at the end of the condition of the box using the recovery partition. In the next few days, I have updated windows, drivers, etc.

I noticed a very slight improvement in performance, but he "still felt" warm and then frozen again. Manually, I restarted and was given two options:

Windows Startup Repair (recommended)
Start windows normally

I chose the repair option only to receive a message saying that windows could not repair the startup. The details of the diagnosis and repair gave me root causes of:
A recent driver installation or upgrade may prevent the system from starting.
Repair action: repair and checking the integrity of system files.
Result: failed. Error code = 0 x 490
Time: 529733 ms

I then went into system recovery options and selected and windows memory diagnostic tool restart now and check for problems.
Laptop computer has restarted and began testing. Once the test is complete the device tried to restart but hung on a black screen with only the cursor visible.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello

Looks like the installed Windows operating system is corrupt
In my eyes, you should try to reinstall new OS.
If you have important files on the HARD drive, then you could try to start Notepad using a live CD; like Linux, Windows PE (WinPE) or BartPE
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

That would help you get access to the files on the HARD drive that you could save on external USB HDD or USB flash memory.

Your ad is a little strange.
What do you mean with system recovery? System recovery I understand you reinstalled OS and now you are using your portable computer with the settings and clean the preinstalled operating system. Am I right about that?

With preinstalled OS own cards flash at the top of the screen should work every time when you press the FN key. Can you see the flash cards when you press the FN key?

Please try to restart Flash cards as an option and check again.
You can also try, it is to open the settings for flash cards and select the option allow the mouse do the maps. After this try to move the mouse at the top of the screen and check if flash cards will be displayed when you click it. If yes go to F5, click it and choose the option you want.

Please test this and post comments.

  • Cannot find utilities Toshiba Satellite P300 Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

recently, I had installed the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and now I can't find any Toshiba utilities that I got when I bought the laptop opererting with Vista Home.

    Please can someone help me.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

May I ask why you are looking for this Toshiba Utilities?
Some features of the laptop are not available?

In my opinion, you don't need utility Toshiba if you use Win 7.
I installed Win 7 and all I had was the VAP (value added package).

This package contains a few tools and utilities.
If you want to use the FN keys, then you need to install Additionally utility Toshiba Flash Cards such utility is not released for all mobile phones models so try to install this tool published for example Toshiba Satellite L500

  • laptop 2000: cannot complete startup on HP 2000 Windows 8

I have a HP 2000 Windows 8 (not sure if 32 or 64 bit). Some time ago I met a problem starting, which seems to be similar to that published on 21/08/2014 amount «I have a hp2000-2b19wm...» ». The system starts until it happens to my home screen, then it is totally insensitive. He feels that there are a lot of things running in the backgorund such that the reader is completely tied up. I have a lower right corner of the message that updates are available, which I can believe since it has been a few months since I've updated.

I tried on my own to do but F8 safe mode start-up assistance which was ineffective; just keep doing a regular full boot. I read the solution regarding the start-up of Windows 8 Mode without failure given in the above referenced post. However, the link does not take me to a document, just to the HP support page general.

Use F8 the right way to enter into the Mode without boot failure, or it's not like I have an another question?

    Thank you.

    @jsfrisbie,

The ID of the fault: 6BX09G-6BA84A-MFGK0K-60RU03 is a hard drive error.

You can replace the hard drive yourself.  Here is Guide to Service and Maintenance page 47.

  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

    Stand by.
When Windows is completely loaded, you can use the optical disk drive and it reads all CDs and DVDs?
When you put your Windows Windows installation disc can see the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer?

Maybe you can use the CD but not DVD. check it out please.

Hi, my first post here, hoping for any help.

I recently bought a Satellite P300 - 18 M, from an independent retailer with no return policy. good on the PC is a brand new, sealed, etc and I get the Toshiba standard warranty.

Any other help or suggestions much appreciated as im not confident of this DVD, being a brand new sealed unit, why corript of Vista in the first place.

    Hello

In my view, that the P300 is equipped with the ability to drive HARD recovery. This means that you could restore the operating system of the image that is stored on the HARD drive.
To do this, you will need to power the laptop and must press the F8 key.

A start menu should appear, then you should choose the first option called fix my computer.
Then, you must choose the option called Toshiba HDD recover or something like that. It should be the last option.
This procedure helps you reinstall Vista again.
This facility could be that you can burn the own recovery disk using the preinstalled software called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

But if the recovery of HARD drive does not work you will need to use your orderly recovery DVDs and have to restore it again.
If the laptop will not properly work after using Recovery then DVDs I recommend to contact the ASP again and to explain the whole story.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P300-220 - cannot run Recovery Disc Creator

    Hello

Yesterday I received my new laptop (Satellite P300-220). Today, I'm trying to make a record of recovery and launch "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator", the hourglass appears for 3 or 4 seconds but nothing else, cannot access the application.
    Any idea?

    Thank you

    Hello

Do you have something to change on the laptop before you start the Toshiba Recovery disk?

It's not easy to say which is the reason, but in your case I would start the recovery of HARD drive option. Go to the advanced boot menu, select fix my computer.

    > I would like to change the graphics card. Is it possible? Where can I buy a new graphics card? How can I disassemble the Toshiba P300?
Unfortunately it's the worst thing that can happen with laptop. In general the GPU cannot be replaced and when something like this happens all motherboard needs to be replaced.

You can try to use Google and check if you can find something but it is unclear to me that you can buy a graphics card in some online stores. Maybe on ebay and without warranty.

    All this is quite complicated.

  • Satellite P300 - 20 H cannot find a wireless connection

    Hello

Can someone help me? My Satellite P300 - 20H can not find the wireless router.
He works very well before both at home and work, nothing has changed, but the laptop now cannot find a connection.

Everything works fine when I connect the ethernet cable, but as soon as I unplug NOTHING.
The router is in the same location as always, and no electric element in surplus is around.

I guess it must be something to do with the laptop because it is the same at home because it's a job, WITHOUT JOY.

    Thank you

    Richy.

    Ohhm man.
There are many discussions on the problems of WiFi and I hope you read some comments here that provide some tips.
    Did you?

Firstly it should check if the WiFi is enabled correctly.
Activate WLan switch (LED should be lit) and use the FN + F8 to activate the WLan.
In addition, the WLan configuration should be checked! (SSID, encryption type, password encryption, etc.)

Last but not least make sure your WLan driver is up-to-date.

    Hello

    Thank you
    Fotis

    Hello!

You can format the USB on the laptop, and you can see it in disk management?
Do you have the yellow marks in Device Manager?

This shouldn't be a problem with the USB ports, I think that the USB have some errors.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P300 - after Intel WLAN driver update cannot connect to the WLAN N

After 4 months I have updated the driver for the WLAN. After installing the driver I m unable to connect to a network of N. recovery software but is not be able to connect to the network.
I have already installed the Intel driver but nothing help.
Are there some people who can help me solve this problem?

    I have a Satellite P300.

    Hello

Firstly, it must ensure that your wireless network card and your WLan router would support the Draft N.

Second, you should check if the project has been selected in the WLan card properties.
This, to check the Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab WLan card

    Check it out

  • Satellite P300 - cannot find drivers for Win 7 32 bit

I have the Toshiba Win7 install discs, but I have 2 questions.

1: I installed the 32-bit version, but I can't find the 32-bit drivers (reinstalled). The Australian Toshiba site is the only one that recognizes my model (PSPCCA OC201Y), but it offers only drivers for win7 64 bit.

2: I'd really rather do a clean install of the 64-bit system (the disk too) but it seems no way to do. In an upgrade, it offers the possibility, in a clean installation, it doesn't.

    HELP PLEASE

Visit the page of the European driver Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

Choose here P Satellite series-> Satellite P300 PSPCCE and Win 7 32 bit
    Pilots should be available

    > 2: I'd really rather do a clean install of the 64-bit system (the disk too) but it seems no way to do it. In an upgrade, it offers the possibility, in a clean installation, it doesn't.

You need a Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit system disk. I doubt that Microsoft Win 7 32 bit disk also contains the 64-bit version.

  • Cannot start the Satellite P300-1FN - nothing happens

    Hi all

I have recently reinstalled windows 7 on my Satellite P300-1FN and after a few minor problems, it was working fine.
I blocked some drivers and updates, then it prompted me to restart.

I turned it off and left while I had lunch, then tried to start and nothing happened.
I mean nothing, not even the power led comes on. I put the battery in which I know has at least half a load and nothing.

The fuse, still nothing changed. What is everything?
    It is quite dead.

    Any help appreciated.

    G

    > I mean nothing, not even the power led lights up.
    Sounds not good man

Sounds like the motherboard or CPU problem because no s lights are on.

    But try this;
Unplug the power adapter, remove the battery, wait some time (2-4 hours) and reconnect the two parts.
Check if you could power the unit in place.

If this is not possible then I would recommend contacting a professional technician to ASP.

Sorry, but that's all I can suggest

Now, I need to retrieve data from the satellite but I can´t coz I forgot my user password.

And I'm probably too stupid to reset is, because after insertion of a CD the two empty, and after you connect a USB, the computer says CD / USB stick can´t be used to reset the password. What I am doing wrong?

I need data for this thing, and more I want more I'm nuts...

    Can someone help me please?

    Thanks in advance,
    Timo

Timo if you get 2.5 AluminumSATA HDD Enclosure connect the HARD drive of your P300 to another PC as external device. On this way, you will be able to have full access to all saved data.

After that put the HARD drive back and install the original image of recovery or Win7 32 bit. It works perfectly on the P300.
