  Try this:
  Open your profile folder.
  Close Thunderbird.

  This problem may be caused by the Yahoo! toolbar as scopes as well down and covers the top of the browser window, allowing links in this part of the screen not clickable.

  Well, I tried this and I've had some success. I stopped getting the message "you need administrator permission", and instead he traded in the ' cannot delete files: access is denied "or something like that.
