Cannot delete backup

1.9 GB to 5 GB of my iCloud space is taken up with "backups". I followed the procedures of various threads to try to delete all backups successfully. I'll give you two examples that follow, and would be grateful if someone can give me a lead. I disabled everything that I can think of that could be written to iCloud backups.

On iMac in Preferences > iCloud, the bar at the bottom of the screen says I have 5 GB of storage iCloud and almost all the storage I use is yellow color coded and said "Backup." When I click on the button "Manage" it shws on the left I have "backups 1.9 GB" and "Mail 5.1 MB. Aside from that there is nothing else under Storage manage. When I click on the "Backup" item on the left, on the right panel shows NOTHING. There is no backup to select and delete. Remove the button is grayed out.

On the iPhone > settings > iCloud > storage, it is said:

5.0 GB total storage

3 1 GB available

and when I click on the option "Manage storage" (iPhone > settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage), it mentions that a single element which is Mail 5.1 MB. There is nothing else that are listed.

Backup is disabled on my iPhone and iPad (settings > iCloud > Backup). On the desktop, I see not the backup to delete, as explained above.

I disabled player icloud, photo stream, etc.

Any ideas how I can clear this off backup my iCloud account?

  • Cannot delete backup of drive C through Classics (or all) methods.

During a recent backup on an external hard drive, Windows backup made 2 backups at the same time, apparently - one for my outside and the other (for reasons unknown) on my C drive. It took almost all of my C drive and now save (manage the backups/space) will not change in the C drive, because there is not enough available space. And I can't delete the backup of the file Explorer, either. Any suggestions?

    Windows 7 pro 64-bit.

    16 GB of ram

    Core i7 processor

2 hard drives of 1 TB

Hi AG. I'm just getting back to this.

Before proceeding, I would like to assure you of something. The big issue I talk on my C drive, which appeared when I saved on an external one that is named "System Volume Information".

I supported once again today and there is a file on my external drive called the same thing, AND the file with this name on my C drive now has the current date. Thus, a duplicate must have been done again, or the folder has been updated, or something.

So, I really don't think that delete this folder in my C drive will make a good long term, except for release temporarily a lot of valuable space. But I learned to understand why windows backup does.

(After) I'm saying this out, can you tell me what you do for backups? I'm guessing that you have found a much better method.

Once again, thank you for your help!

Delete "System Volume Information" and similar such as "recovery" should * not * be removed, removal will result in corrupted file system!

If you have multiple user accounts you must empty the Recycle Bin for each user through normal means, and not by the appropriation of any kind. (it is the newspaper account and empty basket and run Disk Cleanup, as explained below)

do the same for each partition and hard disk (plug in external HARD disk while disabling the Recycle Bin)

The best method to backup your personal data is to use at least 1 external HARD drive or USB key.

Online storage is also good but only for non-confidential data.

Do not encrypt your external storage, sooner or later you're going to block your stuff and there is no way to go in this case.

Backup system is good for the system recovery (backup of the system files * only * ) and they do not take too much space.

You can reduce or configure this space in:

    Configuration\systeme control and Security\System

    Advanced system settings

    The system protection tab

    Configure button

    And

    System Restore button

Once you set up above do a cleaning disc for each user account.

Control of configuration\systeme and Security\Administrative tools > disk cleanup

I lost a lot of data during the backup on laptops (portable computers die or get stolen sooner or later)

I lost data while trying to encrypt the stuff (you lose your decryption key sooner or later)

I lost data using a single external storage (hard drives die to the wire or getting hit by corrosion)

I lost data while performing backups on CD/DVD (CD/DVD backup s * uks)

Keep confidential things on HDD/USB EXTERNAL, stuff on the external storage cannot be 'hacked' as another pluged in storage devices.

don't use programs of any kind to transfer data to external storage, use the copy and paste * manually *.

So currently, I use 1 drive external HARD, key 2 USB and 1 card SD + online storage.

    No more problem.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Cannot delete backup iCloud

    Hello

iCloud storage said I'm using 3.71 GB as "Backup" (yellow bar), but I did not all backups (see the screenshot).  I have disabled all backups, delete photos, basically everything but it is always showing 3.71 GB is used and I have no way of knowing what is 'saved' or how to remove anything.

How can I remove this "backup data" and recover the storage space?

    Thank you, Mark

Have you tried allowing the back upward so that the delete option appears.

  • Rescue and recovery cannot delete backups

    Hello

I have problem delete old backups with Rescue and Recovery - always when I try to delete them, it seems to work, but it is not, it never ends... I tried to remove one of all backups, only the last or only the oldest or all of them together, but without effect. I have 6 backups about 45 GB together. And by the way that r & R does not well at all - also when I click on optimize backup storage space, it does not work...

Eventually, it is normal that when deleting old backups, computer seems cold and it takes a long time, but I don't know if it never ends.

    I have the latest version of Windows XP Pro SP3, R & R 4.21.0016 R61.

    Is there a solution?

    Thank you very much!

    V.K.

Uninstall rescue and recovery of add/remove programs. It will remove the backups in this way.

  • Cannot delete the Time Machine backups

I have a MacBook Air and a 128 GB USB key that holds my library of photos, so I always make backups. My system - and I have recently made account how flawed it was - was to create backups on a 500 GB HARD drive, but to transfer them to a 2 TB HARD drive when it is full. So, I finally discovered that when I transfer backups in small quantities to the 2 TB, it takes more space because instead of aliases of files used to represent more recent backups, care of file just copied over and over again. For this reason, I put my 2 TB as a feature of time machine and imported all the old backups in the folder backups.db, that my Mac 'cleaned' and registered 135 GB. But 135 GB is not enough, I went and delete backups that I don't have anymore. When I looked in the trash to empty, I've seen 2 things: backups I have trashed and others who are pale sort out. I can't open the files, even if I right click and select "open in a new tab. When I try to "immediately remove" these paled-out files, I always get a message that they are "on duty." It is about 300 GB, so I must get rid of him. But it does not stop there, because when I try to "delete immediately" backups I had trashed myself, I get an error message! It is a total of about 600 GB, what I absolutely need to get rid of! If anyone has some tips, it will be greatly appeciated.

You have probably sprayed your Time Machine backup database. The best thing to do is erase the disc with Airport utility. Then start again with a new backup.

    Good day.

    1. move all the messages you want to keep out folders, sent items and deleted items, and in other local OE folders you have created for archiving (backup) of such messages.

1B. move 99% of your messages in your Inbox folder to other folders the of OE, too.

    2. Note the location of the store of your identity (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain).

2B. turn on "Show hidden folders and files" via start | Control Panel | Folder options | View (seehttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html).

    3. close OE.

    4. in Windows Explorer, navigate to your storage folder, find & removeOutbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbxand Deleted Items.dbxfile.

To avoid such problems in the future, comply with the following restrictions:

-Do not cancel automatic compacting, where it would happen and do not try to close OE via Manager tasks or stop your Automatic compaction machine can take place.

I copied all the files under C:\Users\ to a backup disk (NTFS).  Then I tried to delete the Temporary Internet Files folder.  I'll tell an error message:

The file names would be too long for the destination folder.  You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location with a shorter path.

When I drilled far problem files were I saw a bunch of files with very long names.  I right click on one (in the hope to rename it) and the only available options are: open, pine in the Start Menu, send to.  Delete, rename and properties were missing.
