    Hello Jay,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

I have a few questions about your question:

    (a) not you get an error when you try to download?

    (b) where you are trying to download music and video files from?

    Method 1:

You can try the system to the boot and they try to download the files. Any program background may interfere with the download. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The steps to perform a clean boot are given below:

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

    1. click on Start, click run, type msconfigand click OK.

    2. the System Configuration utility dialog box appears.

Step 2: Configure selective startup options

    1. in the System Configuration utility dialog box, click the general tab, and then click Selective startup.

    2. Click to clear the Process SYSTEM. INI file check.

    3. Click to clear the process to WIN. INI file check.

    4. Click to clear the Load Startup items check box. Check The Load System Services and to use Original BOOT. INI are checked.

    5. click on the Services tab.

    6. Click to select the hide all Microsoft Services check box.

    7. click on disable alland then click OK.

    8. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer

Once you have set the system boot, you can try to download the files and check if you get the same problem or not.

For more information about the clean boot, follow the below given link:

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you have finished downloading, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on Startand then click run.

    2. type msconfigand click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.

    4. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

    Method 2:

Alternatively, you can try to reset the TCP/IP settings.

Note This section is intended for computer savvy users. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, ask for help or contact Support.

The reset command is available in the context of the NetShell utility IP. Follow these steps to use the reset command to reset TCP/IP manually:

    1. to open a command prompt, click Start , and then click run. Copy and paste (or type) that follows the command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:

    cmd

    2. at the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:

    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note If you do not specify a path of the directory for the log file, use the following command:

    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    3. restart the computer.

First, you download the Fixit from the given link and run it, if that does not work then try to do it manually.

  • Cannot download the media missing Codec

I am trying to download audio files of www.hayhouse.com o.  My OS is Vista.  The first downlooad went well and I could listen without any problem.  When I tried to download the second file, I received an error message "missing CODEC".  In doing some research on the Internet I found a download on several websites «media player codec pack 3.9.6»  I am concerned about download, even if it of free of any one of these sites - and in any case did not understand how... Can you help me?  Is there an official website which provides a compatible with Vista CODEC pack?

    Hi Heidi1950,

If you get a message stating that your computer is missing a codec, you are probably trying to play a file that was compressed by using a codec that does not include Windows or the default player.

There is no official site to download the codecs. See question How can I find a codec?
    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards

  • How to disable the pop up "Windows Media Player cannot download the information on the media... "after the extraction of a CD without activation of network connectivity.

When I copy a CD with Windows Media Player, I get the message pop up after the investigation period is over: "Windows Media Player cannot download the media for this CD information. The other titles, artist, and album will be identified as "Unknown" in your library. For best results, connect to the Internet or manually add media for CD information. »

I know that the message appears when I turn on the setting to allow WMP to connect to the internet to get information about the media, but I don't want WMP does. What I want is a button I can push on the pop-up that says "don't show this message again" (similar to the warnings seen in internet explore). How can I disable this pop-up window without activating the internet connection option.

In case you're wondering, the data from the internet are incompatible in the naming convention so when I rip an audio book, so I can listen to my mp3 player, I can't completely post-processing script because not all of the disks in a set have a coherent on the slopes or even name the disc etc. At least drives marked 'Unknown' is consistent and so easy to script for the reduction to a single MP3 file.

Installation of Windows Media creation tools.
Upgrade a downloaded ISO of Windows to install Windows Media creation tools 8.1 will ask me for any product key or it will update just as if update Windows Store?
I have no product key. Upgrade the Windows store and even ISO file?
I'd prefer what option? It will automatically activate over the internet, after that the installation is made via the ISO downloaded by Windows Installation Media creation?

    Hello

If you download the Installation of Windows Media creation ISO tool or create a flash drive, you will not have to download it again if something goes wrong... This would be my choice...

It will be activated after installation is complete, it will use the same license as your current 8 Win...

You will make the upgrade of Windows while it is running, only not by starting with ISO or any other bootable media...

The creation of media Windows Installation tool will not ask a key download ISO...

The creation of media Windows Installation tool will not install upgrade... You will need to start the process yourself...

Get error when I try to run the application

Is there a section of the article dealing with resolution issues with media creation tool.

    Troubleshooting: something happened

STEP 1: Run Windows Media as Administrator tool

First try to run the tool as administrator as shown below:

Right-click on the exe of the multimedia authoring tool and select the option "run as administrator".

Now, it should not give error message "something's happened."

STEP 2: Change the locale and the language English (United States) settings

This problem may also occur if the language and regional settings on your computer are different than the downloaded Windows 10 configuration files.

Just follow these simple steps to change the regional and language settings in your computer to solve the problem:

    1. open Control Panel and click on icon of the region . Alternatively you can run open command intl.cpl in the RUN or search box.

It will open a new window containing the details of your current system locale, language, etc..

2 now go in the "administration" tab and click on the button "settings change system locale.

3 now select English (United States) option in the drop-down list box and apply changes.

Restart your system and run the tool again. This time, it'll work without any problem.

    Hello

  • Why used my key work for 8.1 windows media creation tool

I have a valid key of Windows 8 Pro.  I downloaded the media help authoring tool
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

When it prompts me for the key, before it allows me to do something else, I get the following error:
This product key failed.  Check it and try again.

It is a valid key that I bought and you want to use.  I have the email receipt and confirmation.  My order number is WD06988653.

Why is it not work?  I need to reimage my computer and Microsoft is always ridiculously hard things to do.

There is a special step necessary if you use a product key of Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows Installer Clean which is explained in the link in step 4.
