  As indicated, with an upgrade (apparently what you bought) you will get a request for both the new S/N in the old S/N - assuming that a qualifying product is not installed).

  The reason why you get this message is because you are trying to install a version of Acrobat upgrade.

  During the upgrade, you will be asked to enter the serial number twice. The first option is when you enter the serial number for the product you have purchased.

  The second time, you must enter the serial number for the previous version.

  Therefore, please enter the serial number. the previous version of Acrobat on the second line.

  The product 'calling' is your old Acrobat - 9 or X. You need the serial number of this old version.

I am very disappointed by Microsoft.

  This is often a point of confusion, but the requested key is not your product key of Windows 8 (this key is actually stored on your laptops bios chip and only serves to activate Windows).

  Key Finder programs are useless to use on the OEM of the computer like Toshiba, Acer, etc.

  They will only find a product key that is used on several computers during the Manufactuering which is of no use to you when reinstalling the operating system.

  These programs are only useful to find retail operating system product keys, which then can be used.

  Follow these steps to reinstall Vista:

  How did you restore the computer (method)?  This is a system like Dell, HP, Lenovo, gateway, etc. ?

  If it's a system like that--and it came pre-installed with any operating system you restored to you and used their method to restore the system to factory settings - your support comes from them, not Microsoft.

  The product key for the operating system, if any, should be (in the case of the situation I described) on a sticker on the computer itself.  It would look like the flashing of modes of action here )<-- that="" is="" a="" link,="" click="" on="">

  However, without knowing more (like the specific operating system, how you restored it, why you restored, etc)-probably not able to help much more than that.

  However, I can tell you (after reading: "I have years of data on the computer") you don't probably more - not if you ended up doing a destructive restore of the computer operating system.  Likely * everything * went that you took the trouble to backup to external media before "find you" your computer.  Backups - always King.

  I have a Photosmart 7520 and I am trying to locate the product number. None of the examples on the site of HP to find, this is what I have on the UPC sticker on my unit. I have something for the serial number, then a number FPU 5 characters, a dash, and then 5 more.

  When I run the security controls, it does not provide me with the serial number (the two characters on the end) and the first half of the FPU no (a plus character) However, these numbers are placed in the fields of manual control of warranty.  But when I run these numbers using the manual method, the program said that "we were unable to find results that match the information you entered. I tried again by omitting the characters that HP has added, but in vain.

  I'm going in circles, while it should be simple. FYI, I used Windows 7 and connect to the wireless printer.
