  More information - Vista computer also has a wireless adapter that when activated, it works but we have the connection Ethernet also works. I tried to connect with the mode safe mode with networking, but get the same thing. I thought to reset tcp/ip, but given that the wireless adapter is able to connect, does that mean tcp/ip works on the computer and running that a fix would be a waste of time? I don't want to do anything that could screw up the wireless adapter. Ethernet is on board so that it cannot be let go and need to reinstall. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

  Thanks for your reply. I tried to remove the network adapter from Device Manager and allowing windows to reinstall but it does not solve the problem. It is a desktop computer. I started to think about how the cable could have been pulled and could have damaged the Ethernet port and was going to ask you what the lights where the cable plugs into the Ethernet port average. It's a green light solid with a yellow flashing light next to him. I decided to shut down the computer and blow the Ethernet port with compressed air. To my surprise, it works now!   Clean boot your PC and then test.

  If you can not access the internet, then check your updates installed and see if KB980182 has been installed.  If so, uninstall and then test.

  Step 1: This error occurs when your browser and IDM are set to run under different privileges.

  Maybe you have set to run IDM with administrator rights. This is not correct. However, even with the box checked to re-connect to the opening of the service is WORTHLESS! I made a lot of attempts to use the Net use syntax to create a batch file to overcome this non-functional raw application. I would really appreciate someone who actually had this issue resolved and work. I have looked at all the Windows files on the XP machine, searched the registry about a possible switch, which could make the necessary changes and have made all necessary changes on the Windows 7 system to accept the mapped network share.
