• Server 2008 rdp client does not keep by default local printer

  Question: Windows XP workstation connects to the client terminal server 2008 for an application. The local workstation XP has a based LPT printer. The local printer is selected to be used through the RDP client and can be seen on the Terminal Server session. The central issue is that the RDP session will not keep the local printer the default XP workstation. It can be chosen and works, but never stays after the end of the session and reconnect or even log out of the session and you reconnect. It never remains the default printer, instead, it takes the default value of the server administrator. 1 of 7 other network printers.

  Points: The XP workstation has a printer LPT laserjet 4000 series as is the local default LPT. I followed a Tech Note "http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302361" which seems to have nothing to do with this topic.

  Note: The server is standard with clients more Terminal server 2008. All the network printers according to works, and other customers to keep printers default network without problem.

  Hi team,

  I use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone to import certain Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V virtual machines to VMware ESXi 4, using another Windows Server 2008 R2 as the machine Agent Converter. Well, the agent connects to the Windows VM source very well (I used the net use command to create a line of conduct...), perhaps no chance to connect to the computer target VMware ESxi 4 and make the converter doesn't work...

  Following is the error message:

  "Unable to connect to the host specified" from the converter agent machine. " It is perhaps because the host is not available on the network, there is a problem with the network configuration or management on this host services do not react. Check all components of converter to be able to connect.

  So, my question is; is it possible to create a work around (like the net use Windows command above) to make possible the connection of the converter Agent on Linux VMware ESXi 4 machine Windows machine, to directly import the virtual machines of Windows Hyper-V to Linux VMware?

  Which will convert *.vhd *.vmdk, so you don't need to do all this... Of course, another way is to start the machines, leaving them on Hyper-V and go through the network and process virtual machine as physical machines and do a P2V on the network...

• Cannot update/modify files - Server 2008 r2 for 2012 r2 upgrade

  I have a server that has been upgraded to Windows Server 2008 r2 to Windows Server 2012 r2. Before the upgrade, I could change the files in the directory c:\test. After the upgrade, I am unable to update when you are connected to the local computer. I can refresh the files from another machine via a UNC path, however. When I try to update files via the local computer, she wants me "save under" and says "Access denied" when I try to replace the file. I can rename it and save it in the directory, but not to replace the current file. When I check the effective permissions on the file, it says "Total control" and I am an administrator on the machine. However, if I add my account to the folder with the "total control" I can edit and save the file. So, I have a workaround in place, but I want to fix the real problem.

  Troubleshooting steps:

  • Turn off UAC
  • Attrib on folder and file settings
  • Removed all permissions and added to the folder
  • Copy/paste the contents of the folder new folder
  • I can create a new folder and the file and modify the content, if they are new
  • gpupdate/force
  • restarted several times

• Hard drive of Server 2008 VMware wokrstation 7 not to run correctly

  I'm new with VMware workstation, and I had a little trouble with my hard drive. I installed Server 2008 64-bit as my host OS on my main hard drive (80 GB). After that, I hooked a new SATA 1.5 TB. The drive appears fine in computer management. However, when I go to create a new virtual machine and select "Create a new virtual disk" and I give the size of the new hard drive for example 1300GB, I get the error saying that the disk can be up to 950 GB. In addition, if I had to give a smaller size she tells me that he cannot give me this space because the maximum space available is 74 GB (i.e. it refers to my primary HD). How can I use this new 1.5 TB drive to create a new virtual hard disk.  I also tried the option 'Use a physical disk' and who does that until I'm about to install the operating system.

  on a host of 2008, you cannot use physical disks without hacks - see Jokkes documents to circumvent the problem.

  With WS 7.1 RC, you can create 2 TB VMDK - explain what you do exactly.

  You must of course give the path to the large disks when you create the vmdk

• Server 2008 R2 installation will not configure on DV7 series laptop

  I installed the Server 2008 R2 on a laptop DV7-7012nr. I upgraded the memory up to 16 GB. I deleted all the partitions, and then divide the hard drive into 2 partitions. Partition 1 is 7 442 Go Windows, Partition 2 is 256 GB server.

  I recently deployed a windows 2008 (32 std) additional domain controller for our windows 2003 DC. and I moved to make PDC FSMO roles in 2008. now I get error when I open Group Policy and none of the policy is to take users. the error is "the network name is not found.

  I run the command adprep/adprep domainprep/gpprep command when I deploy the windows Server 2008. below error, I get in the event viewer for the same thing.

  "The Software Installation Group Policy Client Side Extension was impossible to apply one or more parameters, because the changes must be processed before logon startup or user system. The system will wait for the treatment group strategy to finish completely before the next startup or logon for that user, and this may result in slow startup and startup performance '.

• Windows Server 2008 Evaluation ISO will not read as boot, help drive!

  I downloaded the ISO of Windows Server 2008 Evaluation on my Windows 7 Ultimate Office. Then I burned it on a disc using windows image burner. After that I tried to install it on my server. Tried to leave as the only boot device dvd drive and it still did not read the dvd as a boot device. Help, please. Am that I supposed to burn using other software or something? Help, please.   Using the Chrome browser in Windows 10 attachments to emails sent to my Gmail account are not available. The error message is the same mentioned in the first request:

  Go to options Excel, the Privacy Center, settings and uncheck all options on "protected from view.

  Save and voila, suddenly excel can open all the files and has absolutely no problem with your GB of free memory.

  I have an old Server 2008 R2 Standard (SP-1) 64 and 25 workstations Windows 7 64,.

  On the server I have Group Policy Management, default domain policy, Computer Configuration, Windows configuration, security, local policies, Audit policy, all parameters together for the pass/fail (account, directory, logon, object, Prov., etc, etc, etc.) cela fine checks at the server level.  GPMC looks good, resulting strategy game is good with the default domain policy in all areas.

  When done desktop computers get their information to audit of Server 2008 GPO, I thought that this came from default DC GPO for the audit

• X 64 installed iFilter on Windows Server 2008, but it is not indexing

  It seems to be only index the content of documents which have been added after installing the iFilter. It doesn't seem to be indexing of documents that were already on the server before installing the iFilter component. I have to remove and rebuild the search index after installing the iFilter component? Can anyone confirm that for me?

  but when we take RDP and entered the IP address on the server mentioned above. It gives the error that the RDP is not activated.

  What we did...

  1 checked any local policy or domain... no problem

  2. check that the RDP port is listened to... no problem

  3. has changed the port 3389... nothing happened.

  4. check for any firewall issue... Order the Windows Firewall... Still nothing...

  Checked port 3389 with telnet... its not going is not to...

  Help, please...
