I suggest you rename the temporary folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution:

    1. click on start, run, type: cmd and press ENTER. Run the following command in the opened window.

    net stop WuAuServ

    2. click on start, run, type: %windir%, and then press ENTER.
    3. in the opened folder, rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to SDold.
    4. click on start, run, type: cmd and press ENTER. Run the following command in the opened window.

    net start WuAuServ

Visit the Windows Update site to check this problem. If it works then it's a corrupted Windows Update file and we need to delete the folder in which it resides.

(My Automatic Updates usually work, but this time not to go.) Updates are obtained through IE8 browser, but I prefer FireFox for daily use.)

    Thank you! Success!

I used method 2, because I had already tried method 1 earlier, but the "fix it" went wrong. After reading the information from method 2, I opted to use my FireFox instead of IE8 browser, because I suspected that the process Internet Explorer that are included with the update was a large part of the cause of my problem. Among the options, I used Microsoft Download center to locate the update I needed and then through its validation and finally made the download and reboot. Voila!

Can you please explain why the process more automated via IE did not work for me? Why I resorted to the labour process more that I used? Can I expect this of all the other "critical" updates that I get on my machine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005? Maybe your answers would also be interesting to others.

  • CANNOT INSTALL ANY WINDOWS UPDATES UNIQUE LANGUAGE 8

I have a new laptop Windows 8 unique language. I tried to install updates without success.

    No error message

Windows Installer: Installation Preparation - it runs for 'hours' no download or installation of updates.

To see if she could take a long time because the total amount of updates are + - 700 MB, I tried to install/upgrade to update only a 43 k Update (security update Cumulative for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 8 for x 64 systems (KB2900986) - the download size: 43 KB.)  After 30 minutes, I stopped the installation as it shows only: prepare for installation

I can't upgrade to Windows 8.1 without updates.

My anti-virus updated fine, however no Microsoft updates don't want to download and install.

No other Internet connection issues, etc.

    Data sheet:

    I5, third generation of processor.

    8 GB RAM

    Windows 8 unilingual, recorded.

    Help, please.

    Hi, thanks for the comments.

I tried the method, but it has not fixed the problem.

With respect to method 2, I bought the laptop with Windows 8 by-installed, so no DVD with the software.  I made contact with the distributor of the computer (Samsung), but the first reaction was to get a new version of Windows 8.1 and as they say, the unique language of Windows 8, which has been installed, although the real is a 'gift' and therefore they cannot provide the DVD.  I contacted both Microsoft and there response also had to buy a new license.  I can not fully used this problem as the update seems to be 'corrupted '.

I noticed that the Proxy has been set to auto detect the Proxy settings.  I turned it off and some of the patches installed.  However, most hotfixes do not install and the same issue occur when trying to install.

I always do if something goes wrong.

    Kind regards.

  • Cannot install Windows Vista updated system preparation tool

I downloaded the update for Vista 32 bit system preparation tool, but when the program tries to install after initialization, the installation progress bar never appears, the installation seems to just "hang" and do nothing.  I tried to cancel the installation, but the program seems stuck, I use the Task Manager to cancel the installation.  I wonder why the tool cannot install on my PC after downloading.

    Hi mlzla,

    I hope you do well.

No, if you do an upgrade on the spot, you will lose any program. The on-site upgrade process will take around an hour or two. It is very useful.

I hope this information is useful.

  • "Microsoft Update" cannot install the downloaded updates

CURRENT SITUATION (11 October) - PC with Windows XP Pro.

-To access the site MicrosoftUpdates (with IE8) is OK (yesterday almost impossible;) Very slow PC).

-"Search for updates for this computer" is possible, but it takes a long time before the list appears. Most people with this same problem think it hangs, with the activity display bar process for eternity, never finishing. But I just think, they are not patient enough, because it's really time consuming.

-Meanwhile, the CPU takes almost 100% of the activity, caused by service a specific svchost.exe , which I identified as 1436 service id. (EDIT: maybe it was actually 1644 as I see today)
      \system32\svchost.exe - k netsvcs

All updates are detected for installed software and are shown in the usual categories. The installation of each of the updates appears one by one.  However immediately after fact following a message that lists updates whose installation failed (usually 100% fail to install for now)

    What I have:

    1. I checked 3 services to ensure that the correct settings
    -Implemented automatic update (automatic, started)
    -EventLog (automatic, started)
-BIT was missing, but I managed to install it again

Not without effort, I found these guidelines:
    http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/Background-Intelligent-Transfer-Service-will-not-start/

Now the BITS he listed (with auto-start), but it fails to start, even manually!
If I concentrate on the BITS service (could not be started) this may to solve the "problem of update.

    2. I started Windows PC files check sfc/scannow and restarted the system (nothing wrong detected or corrected... I think)

    3. change of standard browser from Firefox to IE8

    Thank you for the help

    Thanks Nirmal S,

I apologize for not having mentioned earlier that this problem has been resolved.

FYI, I use Avast! Antivirus (free version). No malware was involved, but thanks for the useful information.

I found a ready-made channel to reinstall the BITS service, which apparently takes care of a few other things in the registry.  I do not understand what it does, but it worked for me.

    Current situation:
-Little service is installed and is now ok.

-The Microsoft Update site updated analyses required for the installed software/hardware and displays a list. It downloads the installation of each update program, but not an update can be installed.

  • Cannot install message of updates that Windows Update cannot currently check the updates because the service is not running

I get the message: ' Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. "  You may have to restart your computer. "I rebooted without change.

Can someone help me please?  I just finished a full scan of Malwarebytes and a full scan of MSE - both in Mode safe mode with networking.

I found a few other forums similar to my problem, but I don't know that they are the same as mine.  I'm a little wary about some of the suggested corrections, so I thought I would like to get suggestions directly related to my problem.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Method 1: Run the update utility

  • Help! Cannot install software or drivers for 4500 JO! "MSI. Scan""Fatal Error"- (continued)

I posted this problem once before to http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup-e-g-Windows-8/Help-Cannot-install-soft... and I thought that my problem was resolved, but it was not.  So, here I am again.

With the 'solution' to the other thread, I was finally able to load the software for the printer on my computer, but then the computer is not grateful and in collaboration with the printer for some reason any.  I got the JO 4500 all-in-One machine to print with a generic driver to a different printer, but I couldn't use the other features like analysis.

Now, when I plug in USB cable to the printer to the computer, nothing happens.  Other USB devices work fine, but the printer is not recognized as it should be for a reason any.  So, I installed the printer drivers and software, but now cannot complete the installation of the printer to work. What gives?

All my pc info and the printer is given on the thread linked above.  I hope I can help with that.  This is ridiculous.

This looks like a port that the computer connects to is turned off, which is very rare, or as the USB cable may be bad. Another possibility is that the USB port on the printer itself is turned off. To control the port on the computer just plug in another device to the port and see if the computer detects. It will very likely, because, as I said, it's very rare that a single port out. Normally, if we're all going. The next thing to try would be the cord USB itself. You can do this by plugging it into a different printer, or by getting a USB cord and try. If none of these things work, run the installation again, but this time, after connecting the printer, open the Device Manager to see how your computer handles the pilot. Make sure to click on view, then select Show hidden where the installation is being hidden. If the printer does not appear at all, then the USB port on the printer itself is probably bad and you will need to connect the printer to a router by an Ethernet cable in order to to use. If the printer appears in the Device Manager, but there are errors, this means that the computer is just to have a hard time to locate the drivers. If this is the case, let me know.
