Cannot install updates after you perform a system restore

I did a system restore on my laptop because vista froze to the loading of desktop screen and now Windows Update stopped working. In addition, the windows update window was damaged since only a few icons without text and is not allowing me to update manually as well. How can the problem be solved?

I am running XP Professional.  Since the upgrade to Quickbooks 2010, I can not install three MS updates, and can I update Adobe Reader version 8 to version 9.  The MS updates remaining in my queue are:

When is the last time you checked the updates for your motherboard
chipset drivers, device/video card drivers, sound card / drivers
and the credit card network / device drivers?  You can do now.
The easiest way is to visit the website of your computer manufacturer
If it's something like Dell, HP, Lenovo, gateway, etc.  There, you can
Find the support/downloads/drivers section and look for the drivers
for your computer model.  I suggest you obtain these updates.

Uninstall applications from any third party firewall (ZoneAlarm, etc.)
and use the built-in firewall of Windows only.

Log in as a user with administrative rights and open Internet Explorer
and visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and select to make a
    CUSTOM scan...

Whenever you are about to click on something in these pages - web
first of all, press on and hold down the CTRL key while you click on it.  You can
release the CTRL key after clicking on each time.

Once the scan is complete, select that ONLY updates of high priority
(deselect all others) and install it.

    Reboot again.

If it worked - try the web page - selection not more than 3-5 a
    time.  Reboot as needed.

The optional software updates are generally safe - although I recommend
against the 'Windows Search' one and all of the "Office Live" those or
"Windows Live" which for the moment.  I would like to avoid completely the
    Optional hardware updates.

Seriously - do these things.  It's like antibiotics - do not skip a single
step, don't leave because you think it will be ok now - review
until the end, until you have done all given in the order shown.  If
you have a problem with a step to ask and let someone here, you get
Thanks to this step.  If you do not understand how to bring one back
and ask here on this step and let someone guide you through it.

Then - actually - that everyone here knows if it worked for you - or if
    you have more questions.

Hello!  I was not able to install updates windows since the 10/4, when I installed sp2.  How can I fix?  I do not have the Vista CD because it was preinstalled on my computer.  What should I do now?

my computer came pre-installed with Norton Internet Security 2008.  I had the geek squad install Webroot Spy Sweeper... I uninstalled and then installed spy sweeper from Webroot anit-virus.  Recently who missed...

SP3 not settle.  Cannot run fixit. can not run the secedit command. running reinstall 9 times. 3 weeks (180 + hrs) to try to get the system up.

    Hi Timmus,

You receive an error message when IE or Windows crash updates? Does IE crash on all other sites? Follow the steps in this document to check see if there recorded events that correspond with the accidents.

Also, try the following steps to see if you can install the update in safe mode with networking:

    1. Restart your computer and immediately press the F8 key until you get to the Recovery Console.
    2. Select Mode safe mode with networking
    3. Install updates

I'm sure you have a number of installed updates then I suggest to install in small batches instead of trying to install them all one at a time.

Let us know if that helps.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy to

  • Impossible to install the windows update and perform the system restore

Original title: what restore systerm causing failure/Vista

Windows update fails with a few updates, tried to restore the back before I loaded the system machanic - fails

    Hello

    1. What is the description which are impossible to install updates?

    2. What is the message exact error do you get when you try to install updates?

    3. you get any error message while you perform the system restore?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if it helps:

Method 1: Reset components from Windows Update from the link of the suite, which would help you to install the updates of windows. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, then try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and then try to install the update to windows.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 3: Manually try to install updates from the Microsoft Download Center.

    a. go to the Microsoft Download site, type the number of "KB" of the update in the download search box and then click OK.

    b. in the list of search results, click on the (KB) Knowledge Base article link to go to the download page. If there is more than one list, look for a link that goes to the Microsoft Download Center.

    c. If there are several versions on the download page, find the appropriate for your computer. Click on the download button and save the update to your desktop.

    d. When you are prompted, click open to install the update.

Method 4: You can also try to perform the system restore , safe mode and check if the same problem occurs.

Note: When the computer is in safe mode, System Restore does not restore points. Therefore, you can not undo a restoration you performed when the computer is in safe mode.

    Hope this information is useful.
