Cannot update the 10 latest updates to the system

When the system downloads 10 Vista software updates, it goes through all, but then, when it restarts I get a reboot error.  It cannot solve the problem, and I have to do a restore to an earlier date.  I tried several times to make the installation of the download, but whenever he fails.  How can I solve this problem?  Running on the Dell Studio XPS.

Change your automatic updates to inform you.

Download the updates one at a time, until you find the problem one.

Do a restore again if the problem recurs, then repost with the number of the update.  Mick Murphy

    Hi all

For the not 24 hours I tried to access my computer in normal mode. When I turn on the pc, it says "configuration data 1 of 3 steps...". 0% complete"he never spent 0% and within seconds, it automatically restarts and starts again. It's so frustrating! I tried to perform a system restore, but not like he says "recovery disk is not the restore point selected. What should I do? I tried to manually create a restore point, but cannot access the system and Maintenance, while in safe mode. I can't do anything but literally access the internet. How can I get Windows back to factory settings it is with these limited resources? I have a Dell reinstallation DVD.

I searched my programs and found that recently Windows automatically updated and downloaded "Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer" and "for 2007 Office system Compatibility Pack '. Now, I think it has something to do with it, because they were the most recent updates, before the pc crashed. But I also fear that it may be a virus, which has completely hijacked this PC. How am I supposed to get rid of a bug, if I can't even get the necessary antivirus?

    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.

Basics are there.  It blocks from the tent to set up partitions.  I am giving all of the 250 GB SSD to use as seems it and it is just lost.  It does work with no partitions, partition of the entire disk.  He didn't tell me what he wants.  And error messages make no sense.

They are like: (and my response)

cannot find the system partition (do a stupid)
Can not find the installation partition (crikey, I gave you the entire disk, make one)

Talk about mega-frustration.  How about a useful error message and some useful ways to respond.

    >:-((

If the ssd is not recognized in the first part of the installation process, as a location to install win on, you need to check the manual of the card mother about all the necessary bios for its port settings, or weather, you need to install any third-party disk controller.

And if it's a new ssd, must not contain any partition table, unless you have prepared this ssd when you started in one of your other installations win, that can be part of your problem.

  • Cannot use the system update with WIndows 7 SP 1 for UN-installing IE11 - impossible to re - install IE11!

I have the day together system prompt before downloading and installing. When I had the time of who is running the last invite nothing would install and ' check for updates ' stopped working. The two move to a phase of 'work' but is not progressing.

Search through this forum, I came to management may be incorrect which previously uninstall IE 11 must be the origin of the problem (System Troubleshooting update does not provide a solution) but when I download and try to re - install manually, it says that IE 11 cannot be installed as a more up-to-date version is already installed.

He's not... Although a folder "internet explore" is always present; the ieinstal.exe is non-responsive (even when run as administrator) and I can't delete the folder because:

"You need permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file.

I don't have a point system before uninstalling IE 11 of restoration and we tried disabling my AV during execution of update of the system, for the moment I'll have to find and manually install the security updates, which is a tedious exercise.

Someone has encountered this problem, and more importantly have a solution?

My apologies if I missed the answer elsewhere and thank you in advance for any help.

IE is not uninstalled or reinstalled unless you have a version of Windows N/K/KN, these have been sold in Europe and Korea.  It is a component of Windows Basic.

Check your edition of Windows in the Control Panel, System.  There K/N/KN after the name of the [Home premium etc] edition?

If this is not the case then you have a standard version and you can unload or reload IE to

    Control Panel,

    View by - small icons

    Programs & features,

Turn on or off Windows features

Set / uncheck the box next to Internet Explore [for reload / unload],.

    Ok

    Ok

It will make you then restart the computer for the change to take effect.

How did you "Uninstall" IE?  It is possible that this Act has damaged the system.

There were 15 months and now when I push the power button to start the system, it will not work.

There are 2 blue LEDs lighting but the computer won start t. tried to release the battery and configure power but not luck, with the battery also no luck. On Toshiba that works is the button located under the power button (globe photo with the left and right arrows and a photo of a music note in a display of television or something) when I press this button you hear system starts but after a second or 3-4.

Also tried to remove the memory and hard drive but still no luck.
    Anyone?

Sorry, but there must be a serious problem, and I don't think that there is nothing you can do. The idea to start the laptop with power running is OK, but if this doesn't work and you see nothing on the screen, it must be a serious problem.

Of course you do not give any information that you did the last days with your laptop. Maybe you tried to update BIOS?

First of all, if your anti-virus removed viruses/malware you don't want to use system restore. This is likely to give the malicious software on your computer.

It sounds as if your file associations have been damaged. What makes no sense at all, it is that you are able to open Internet Explorer. Click on the link below. Download the file, save it to your desktop. Right-click on the file and choose merge. Confirm your choice to merge.

They do normally for a low cost

Any other tips we now give you another above, you should always a working CD / DVD player.

For this you need a DVD player:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

  • Cannot delete the system Module

My application consists of 2 modules. A system with autostart module and a module "classic."  I never had no problems update of the modules with the desktop so far Manager. The module system refuses to update and it is impossible to remove it. I'm stuck with an older version. If I do an uninstall via Desktop Manager, only the non-system module is removed. Try to remove the module from the system via the Options, device, application management does not work. The module is there, but a "Delete" option is not available for this module.

Try an installation via Desktop Manager it reports as an "update", but the sysm module is not updated

  • Cannot delete the System Volume Information trash

I am running Windows xp on a Dell computer and I recently removed the System Volume Information folder on an external hard drive after the deactivation of the restoration of the system for this drive.  I don't remember how it happened, but the said folder ended up in the trash.  Now every time that I try to empty the trash, I get an error message indicating that access to the file is denied and it cannot be deleted.  I can see the folder in the trash, but I can restore it or delete it.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Thanks for your reply. I tried both of your suggestions, but unfortunately none of them allowed me to remove the stubborn system folder.  I had to start the computer in Mode safe, gives me full control over the folder to the trash (even though I am the administrator) and then finally was able to remove it. For some reason any Security tab does not appear when you talk about the Properties dialog box, unless you are using safe mode.

  • Cannot restore the system after a virus attack

After infection by several virus Trojan horse my computers hit by the old blue screen of death.

The system can operate in safe mode with networking, but will not boot normally without returning instantly to the blue screen.
The system restore program will not work in safe mode, because he says has no date set to roll back, when I try to set a date to roll back it comes to properties system saying that it should be returning it on the system protection.

All the solutions to put an end to my plague of blue screen and a restorableness?

    Hello!

Sorry, but I think that in this case, the only solution is to reinstall Windows. :(
If SafeMode doesn t you nothing and sometimes viruses destroy the system roll back function.

I had a similar problem a few months back, and the only solution is to reinstall Windows. I had no change to remove the virus.

    Good luck!

    Good bye

  • Cannot restore the system using CD Toshiba

I have a damaged serial port. It is disconnected/drawn / deleted my BIOS. When you restore from cd win98, starts in safe mode. serial port causes this. If I once more turn it off and start the computer normally, it boots OK BUT then goes in systematically auto display "new hardware found and crashes."
Issue. How can I start machine but stop windows goes into automatic routine of new material. In my innocense, I guess that windows would not look for material that has been removed from the bios.
Help. my laptop is unusable on windows at the moment (Linux installs and runs ok), with the exception of serial port.

    Hi Alvey,

I don't think that it is possible to prevent the new hardware detection during his processing of loading Windows. It is a fundamental part of the design of the system required to support the 'Plug and Play' concept of Windows.

I think that your only real option is to get your serial port set so that your system starts normally.

  • Cannot delete the system Keychain key

I have a bit of a problem to remove the keys (the keys) in the Keychain system on my iMac. Here's what happens:

    1. I go to Keychain Access and select system in the keychains list.
    2. I have unlock keychain using my admin password (the icon will change from locked to unlocked).
    3. I click on the key that I want to remove and select Remove "the key I want to delete.
    4. I get a box that says "Keychain Access tries to change the Keychain system, type your password to allow this." Then I do.
    5. I get a box that says: "are you sure you want to remove"the key I want to delete"in the system keychain? I click 'delete '.
    6. I get a box that says "an error occurred when deleting"the key I want to remove"UNIX [operation not permitted].

I'm not able to change the information in one of the keys to the system, nor am I able to add new keys to the system keychain. My Keychain system contains 20 items - who are all the passwords either WiFis, passwords to Machines for time (which is what I want to delete) and a password to the guest account application. That being said, I would have no problem 'reset' the system keychain to default (empty) condition.

I also have a MacBook, which does not exhibit this problem. That is to say that I can freely edit, delete and create keys in the system keychain. I followed the instructions here to back up the system keychain to my MacBook and install it on the iMac, but get an error message saying 'Operation not permitted '.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

  • Split 13 x 2 PCs 13-m110dx: cannot perform the system recovery using a USB flash drive

I just bought a Split 13 x 2 13-m110dx PC that came with Windows 8. I have upgraded the OS to 8.1 and made a copy of the recovery Partition using a USB flash drive, and deleted the recovery of the PC disk that I learned that I could do. However, when I tried to retrieve OEM provided using the USB flash drive by following the directions at creation and use of a recovery of Microsoft USB drive (Windows 8) "System Recovery" was not available to the title of "troubleshooting." I tried to tell it to boot from the USB, but it askes me to insert the support of windows or other media, but rejects the flash player. What do I do now because I have not all discs?

  • Cannot use the system restore

When I tried to do a restore of the system after a software installation failed I got the message "system restore is disabled. You want to turn on? "I clicked the Yes button and then got a screen display that she couldn't be turned on because"system restore has been disabled by group policy. When I searched for how to change group policy, they told me to go to start, run and type gpedit.msc. When I tried that I got an error that gpedit.msc does not exist on my machine. Can someone tell me please how to restore the system restore. I am running an old Vaio with XP, but it still works very well this problem.

Also, I tried it while logged in as an administrator, it is not part of the problem. I do not have a system restore disk because it did not come with the machine and I forgot to make one, but I have a disk of Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Do I have to re - format the entire disk to fix this? I use a sturdy old Sony Vaio, which works very well except for this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

How did you delete the system restore?

I think you have bad things on your computer (or you did at some point).

If you have XP Home Edition, you have no Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc), but the error message that you declare (if it's like my examples), indicates that group policy has been changed, so that something has changed.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Perhaps GoBack is it for you to prevent you from using SR then you would be forced to use use GoBack instead and I do not wish to install GoBack to find out.

Malware "break" things that he knows that you will use to try to get rid of it... like the Task Manager, the restoration of the system, the registry editor, etc.

The malware is happiest when she can trick you into thinking you need to do a repair installation, use a Restore Point or even a complete reinstall when none of those things are needed that outsmart you, and then got rid of with MBAM and SAS.

AV tools will not often catch these things because they can not tell if policies have been disabled by malware or if you made on purpose, so just leave them.   MBAM will point out a few of them as suspect and give you the opportunity to correct them if you wish.

The malware may also know you have XP Home and adjust policies that he thinks that you do not have to be set because you have no Group Policy Editor - This is how he thinks and that's what he does.  He wants that reinstall you XP from scratch.

First run MBAM and SAS if you want.

I've done to the top of this edition of registry for you :).  It's an accumulation of things that responds to all things under the sentence "If you see things like...". ».

If you just want to see if you can get your work of SR and are comfortable editing the registry, you can go here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore

Find and delete this registry key:

    DisableSR

That's what this line in the file .reg on top:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
    "DisableSR" = -.

    He "skins" (removes) politics DisableSR.

That will solve your problem of immediate SR, but will not any question that you have not yet set.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

But, as I said, if you have in your registry, you have probably other things too.  My regedit will fix all the things I've seen come with the question SR whether or not they have need of fixing.  It does nothing, it will remove anything that might be there (you have at least one).

Then, you should broaden your horizons AV because what you use dropped and could not protect your system.

Or, you can wait and see what other people have to say.

As a last resort, you can try the following procedure:

"How do I recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP startup"

Which essentially restores the registry from a backup copy kept with the files in system restore.  In part 2, select a dated folder until you have had this problem to copy the registry of the.  Personally, I find it is easier to start from free Linux Livecd like Knoppix , in which case you can start the procedure in part 2, step 6 using Linux and paste to copy files to their desired location.  Live CD of Linux has no problems with dealing with the status of "Super hidden" System Volume Information folder.
