Cannot internet desktop on xp shortcuts

When I make desktop shortcuts tell of the IE using the shortcut to send to the office or to drag bookmarks in firefox that the icons do not work.  Also all previous desktop shortcuts (other than programs) were a dead end link in the properties on the desktop and don't contain a link.  Can I change something so that I can make internet connections again?

Hi DRDouglas,

Please see the thread with a similar problem and fix possible:

    Hello

    Try these steps-
Create the shortcut proposed (to cmd.exe/c start)
Now, open properties such as proposed
Add the full path in the 'Target' field with your own relative path and the app, for example
    %windir%\system32\CMD.exe /c start your_relpath\app.exe [your_args]

That's all. However, doing so does not change the current working of the called program directory. If this is desired, then enter the following alternative:
    %windir%\system32\CMD.exe /c "cd your_relpath & start app.exe [your_args].

The & is described as a command separator (see cmd /?). Note: Put something like '% CD%\your_relpath\' in the field ' start in ' doesn't do anything.

You can try this as well-
Create .bat file close record/yarn that you want to have the relative path
Edit the file, and the file type: (as you want to open c:\bin\app.exe, and then place file beats in c:\run.bat)
    Departure bin\app.exe
Save the run.bat file and double-click it to open it.

  • Cannot remove desktop icon in Windows Vista

I can't remove an icon of a document word on my desk. I first saved this file on my desk and he settled in a folder under "documents". Now, when I try dragging the icon remains on the desktop into the trash or select DELETE from the drop-down below, I get an error message that says "file not found." I tried to put the file on my desktop, but only another shortcut - creates a shortcut that I am able to remove. How can I delete the icon? I wouldn't mind deleting the document if necessary.

Try one of the following two products: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml or file Assassin http://www.malwarebytes.org/fileassassin.phpUnlocker.  These programs tend to work when the standard functions of delete Windows Vista do not make the case.

    I hope this helps.

  • My Desktop files and shortcuts to folders disappeared

original title: My Desktop files (images, PDF, PSD, txt etc.) as well as shortcuts to folders disappeared. Where files could go to?

One day, he was doing fine. The other, a whole bunch of icons, files, records were missing. Some are still there, others are not. I've been racking my brain for if I installed anything. And I uninstalled these programs. No change. I got the files that I just used on my desk and they went. Photos, psd files, pdfs, remark, I need things and they are gone!

What could be behind this problem and how to bring them back? The only thing I remember of change was McAfee. She gave me bad. I called support. They uninstalled and reinstalled. But they were fine after that. No change until yesterday.

No need for a restore. Thanks for the help.
However, somehow loads of programs and files have been placed as 'hidden' (don't know how it happened yet)
I was able to fix the half of them, yet some programs are not available. But working through the problem.

For those of you who have the same problem.
As all my files and folders are back! And are very well Phew! Everything is better!

    Solution:

If I remember correctly, as it has been quite some time. I opened "My Computer" click "Desktop" at the top left. Then I clicked on "Organize" and then "Folder and Search Options" and then "view" then I searched "hidden files and folders" and selected "Show hidden files folders and drives." Click on "OK." -that worked for me.

  • Firefox used to be able to open my library research, but now he cannot Internet Explore may

When you have a problem with a particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clear your Firefox cache and delete your cookies for the site.

    1. turn off the Cache of Firefox

Tools > Options > advanced > network > storage (Cache) offline: 'clear now '.

    2. If necessary, remove the cookies from the site here:

Right-click on the page, choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies".

If it does not help, you can try using Firefox safe as a diagnostic tool to see if any of your modules could be at fault.

First of all, I recommend you backup your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See your backup information. (You can copy your profile folder Firefox together somewhere outside the Mozilla folder).

Then, try to start Firefox in Firefox
Safe mode. Be sure to not "reset" anything permanently if you have no back upward.

    What is fix?

I should add that the site seemed to function normally for me, but I test only logged in and connected behavior may be different.

  • Cannot get desktop in usable form.

Gentlemen and Gentleladies!  Thank you for your willingness to address another issue thorny taskmanager (I think). After a series of accidents, the taskbar inflated 8 times its normal size, a white band naming himself "desktop search" appears through it; and several orphaned files seem to have made their permanent home there too.  "wmccds.exe, WMCCFG.exe and WMCCPL.dll seem to belong to the Task Manager.  Print slightly and I see 2 more 'Windows Media Connect' and 'nwwia' files, joined them.  I want to get my taskbar normals and startmenu return;  now, there is only a small window available for all material being viewed.   What happened and what can I do about it?  (I studied all available resources - such as 'View' menus and "start and taskbar"-without success).
