Cannot log on locally on Windows7/8

My server had hardware error, once fixed, so I have to reinstall Windows 2003 Server and recreate the DC under the same name.  After that I logged on locally as an administrator on the Windows workstations XP to remove user profiles existing and then downgrade to the network working group and joining new DC (same name even if) successfully.  However, I can not log on locally under Windows7/8 Pro due to... Disabled administrator account, please contact an administrator system or something like that.  I can also not reset password via removable disks.  What should I do?

Try the following per this KB.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/812339

Also, note, that link above is for XP. But it certainly looks like a profile problem. Here's how to create a new. Just create a new profile and delete the old one after the documents have been moved to the course.

1 / click on the Start button

2 / on the start menu, click the control panel option

3 / in the Control Panel, click the user account

4 / the user account window is now open

5 / in the list of options "Make changes to your account", click on manage another account

6 / user Account Control will now kick and ask permission to keep you. If you are the administrator, then simply click on the button continue. If you are not the administrator, then you need to get the administrator, the user name and password before you can continue.

7 / him choose the account you want to change the window will now open.

8 / click on create a new account

9 / the window "account name and choose an account type" open now

10 / type the name of the new account in the name dialog box.

11 / now select the Type of account you are interested in. You have two choice, Standard or administrator.

    • Standard - standard accounts allow the user to use most of the software installed on your computer and also to change the settings of the system that are not related to other users or is security settings.
    • Administrator - the administrator has complete control over the computer and can make changes they wish to

12 / once you have selected the type of account you want to create, click on the button create account

13 / new account will be created now.

    Hello Dixon7,

You can also do a simple check to confirm or not the temporary profiles are created.

    • First check in C:\Users for all profiles not created by your customer.
    • Then check Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > user profile > settings.
      • This will display a list of current profiles on the system.

Also, take a look on Microsoft for the Windows Vista KB Article, to see if it applies to your case: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215.

Overall, the underlying issue is simply corruption profiles of Hordie recommendation to create a new profile if the best. You could then just migrate the older user profile data to the new.

  • Cannot log on to a computer in the domain when it is removed from the domain - Windows 7 Pro, just stopped working

We have a Dell laptop with the encryption used by the principal of our school at work and at home. At the office, it connects to the network via Ethernet. Yesterday, when he returned home, he received a message that it could not connect to a server approved.  His credentials have been cached in the past and still allowed him to open a session with the same user name and password.

Now, when the laptop is not connected to the network, I can't log on to the laptop computer as a domain administrator, it cannot open a session with his account and the local administrator account cannot log on (localadmin\laptopname).  When I tried to add a new local user by using user accounts in Control Panel, I get a message that the domain is not available.  This field is the name of the computer.  Manage user--> Add--> domain accounts--> go--> locations<-- the="" only="" option="" is="" entire="" directory="" (my="" domain). ="" actually,="" this="" is="" all="" i="" see="" on="" my="" work="" computer="" too. ="" when="" did="" this="" change? ="" i've="" added="" local="" users="" in="" the="">

The rest of Windows seems to work.

Biometrics does not for one of our accounts, but they have in the past.

I might add a local account for him to use only with the following command. At least this allows him to use the laptop at home, but it creates a new profile for him so he will not have access to the files saved under its domain account profile.

    net user USERNAME PASSWORD /add
    net localgroup administrators USERNAME /add

AFAIK what has changed is that he was just updates installation before returned home and when he arrived home, things no longer work.

  • Cannot establish connection/local authorization on 6500's

I have a need to allow a small group of level-15 users temporary access to several 6500

switches (12.2 - 33 SXJ2 code execution), but do not want to provide the password secret enable that is used on the

the rest of the network (over 1200 devices).  I tried to eliminate the AAA using the command "no aaa new-model", but I was told that I could not remove aaa while there are active sessions, and 'local connection' appeared more as an option for the vty lines.  So, I created a database of local user, called the 'support' that I used to replace the entry 'group' in sections of the authentication and authorization of our AAA config and connection on vty 0 4.

[The username is given a privilege level of 15 with an individual password for authentication.  (e.g. username privilege 15 password 0 xxxxx jsmith)]

I changed our AAA configuration to support the local login, but could not establish a "mode" (i.e. the prompt #) with any account.  I have

can log on locally, but only to a normal "user mode" (i.e. > prompt).

Here is the config current, modified, and sanitized for our AAA sections and line vty 0 4.  Please tell me what needs

for the stay, and what to go.  Thank you!

P.S.: for reasons of security, we want to track individual activity, so need the accounting AAA part to stay.

    AAA new-model
AAA server Ganymede group + XXXXXX
    Server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    !
enable AAA authentication login default group XXXXXX
    the AAA authentication enable default
default AAA authorization exec XXXXXX group no
AAA authorization commands 15 default authenticated if
AAA authorization network default group XXXXXX no
    authorization AAA MLPPP-PPP network no
    MLPPP AAA authorization network no
AAA accounting exec by default start-stop group XXXXXX
AAA accounting command 15 default start-stop group XXXXXX
AAA accounting network default start-stop group XXXXXX
AAA accounting connection by default start-stop group XXXXXX
AAA accounting system by default start-stop group XXXXXX
    !
    line vty 0 4
    access-class 75
    exec-timeout 15 0
    privilege level 0
    password 7 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    entry ssh transport

I'll have to probably more information until I can provide more help but since I see in the snip-it, you have configured aaa and your AAA server is a GANYMEDE server +. If this is the case you should keep in mind the following:

    1. If the authentication/authorization commands refer to the GANYMEDE group + then you will need to add a 'local' at the end of the command. This will allow local accounts to use when the AAA server is down/unavailable

    2. keep in mind that local users will ONLY be used when the AAA server is down/unavailable. You cannot have a mixture of the two

Question, since you have a GANYMEDE server +, why don't you just create temporary accounts directly on the server GANYMEDE + accounts vs local? You can get very granular like that and don't allow some commands on some devices, during a certain time of day, etc...

I hope this helps and thank you for the rating!

  • When I try to connect my computer with XP operating system, I get this error message to: rund1132.exe and cannot log out.

    original title: log question.

When I try to connect my computer with XP operating system, I get this error message to: rund1132.exe and cannot log out.  How can I fix?

    Hi KERRYYX,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?
    4. What is the full error message that you receive?
    5. Are you able to restart and shut down the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

When you start windows, before the XP loading screen is displayed, press F8, and then select Safe mode.  See if you start a computer desktop, if it isn't you can run chkdsk /f in command prompt.

If you cannot start in safe mode, you will need to reinstall (or try a repair installation) and Yes, you will lose this data, although there is a way to back it up.  You will need to download ubuntu and burn it on a cd and backup to external media.
