    Hello

    Try this:

    1. open the run command via start-> run or press the Windows Logo + R on your keyboard.
If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can also open the Start Menu and use the search field to type to the next step.

    2. in the box you opened in step 1, type; Outlook.exe

3 press the SPACEBAR once and then type a slash mark (/) followed by the switch that you want to use (see list below). For example, if you want to use resetnavpane the command you type in the Open box should look like this:
    Outlook.exe /resetnavpane (note the SPACE)

    4. to execute the command, click OK.

or try a restore of the system before this happened

  • Error message "Windows cannot open this file" for all .exe files.

I have talked with agents of cat and directly by e-mail to a person called Betty to and followed the steps all the recommended without correcting this problem. I can only run a .exe file in a folder. Any attempt to run an exe from Windows XP - Pro results in a box with the above mentioned error. He also said "to open this file, Windows needs to know what kind of program created." It is now more than a month to get this resolved. It only allows me to easily perform some maintenance and even investigations when necessary. This is the only problem I have with my system. I used AVG 2011 to clean my system to any virus or Trojan horse, and he pointed out that there is no intrusion. This sounds like there should be a simple solution because nothing else is affected. I am very frustrated not to find a solution after such a long time.

If you are sure that your system is clean of any virus and you have tried the steps mentioned to restore registry and still not be able to open any exe file you can try the method below:

"12 EXE (lnk and regfile) difficulty for Windows XP" http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm.

    I hope this helps.

My outlook express open used... error says "windows does not recognize this file etc... When I select a list, it will not always be open. Tried to change the outlook properties icon, but it will not change. In the Explorer, some say 'empty' and other files appear in blue! Lost my recovery disc. Tried system restore, but still no luck. Used the drive to factory settings, but they do not work.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Before attempting to open OE, right-click on the taskbar and open the Task Manager and check that there is no mention of OE or MSOE in the running processes. If it's OK, try a new Folders.dbx file.

  • Cannot open Outlook Express

I'm unable to load Outlook Express.  When I try, I get the first blue box but nothing beyond that.  Finally, I got the error msg, "Outlook Express could not be started because another instance of it is still running on your computer."  The cure of suggsted is to disconnect or to stop and restart the computer.  This has no effect.

Also, I tried to 'fix' OE as indicate support of Microsoft Outlook Express.  It lists the 4 files which should registered bere.  No problem with the 3.  The 4th, regsvr32 mshtml.dll, makes me a message error "DllRegisterServer entry point not found...". "Any suggestions on what I need to do to fix this?

Before you try to open OE, right-click on the taskbar and see if she, or msimn.exe is running. If this isn't the case, it is probably corrupted Folders.dbx.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express
With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.
  • Cannot open Outlook Express dbx files saved

    Original title: files__ dbx

I backed up all of my Outlook Express folders and now I can not open them. They have all of the .dbx endings. How can I restore them?

If you have saved all of the directory, copy it to the desktop computer and right-click on the file and check properties to ensure that they are not read-only.  Then go to file | Import | Messages in OE and choose to import from a directory, and point to this directory.  To import a single dbx file, see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1
