  • Cannot open pictures (jpg) in Windows 8 after restoring a backup of my old laptop to Windows 7. Permissions problem?

Using a WD 1 TB external hard drive and the WD software, I made a backup of my old computer with the intention of transferring pictures, documents, etc. to my new computer Windows 8.

Files backed up and I restored it selectively records my images on the new computer without error.

When I open the folder my pictures in Windows 8, I see the files but the imprint does not show the picture.  to place an icon for Windows picture something or another watch (purple photo of the mountains).

Images will be open in everything I tried.  Something about a permissions problem.

Any ideas on what I could have done wrong or how to fix the permissions problem, so I can see my photos?

Click on the photos (you can select/highlight all and do it once for each of them at the same time) and go to properties.  On the Security tab, click Advanced, and then change the "owner" for your user account (search in the options that appear).

After you set the owner, click OK until all boxes are saved/closed.  Return to properties again and this time, set yourself to have "total control" on the files. Now you should be able to open and use.

  • Cannot open pictures transferred from windows 7 to the new laptop with windows 8

I transferred all my documents on my new computer windows 8. I can open all documents (word, excel, etc.), but no pictures. When I right click on the folder properties they have, it is set read-only. I have UN-click on that and he sends me to another screen to allow the entire folder. They are still not open, and when I go back into the properties, it is back to read-only. All the pictures have the same icon (green background with a frame in white, inside the frame is mountains and a sun... odd)

Does anyone know how to get back my photos to their normal state?

Thanks a lot for your answer. I solved the problem... had a friend stop who thought with me. It had to do with the UN checking the properties under display, marked "display only icons, never thumbnails"... who knew these things exist, or how they get checked! Thanks again for the message.

  • Cannot open pictures from the bridge

I installed and updated the PhotoshopCC and the BridgeCC.

I can view the images in Bridge. However, whenever I double-click on it, I get the following error message"

"Windows cannot find C:\Programfiles\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64-bit). Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again. "I can open PhotoshopCC files without going to the bridge.

    What can I do?

This may be linked to this problem: PhotoshopCC does not seem to set file associations.

I've deleted and reinstalled Photoshop CC everything seems to be ok now. I think I solved the problem. If you have Photoshop CS 6 in your system and then install Photoshop CC, CC Photoshop replace all the relevant entries in the file association. The problem comes when you then uninstall the old version. The uninstall procedure clears all file association emtries, even if they are labeled as CC. This leads to the exchanger of problem in my first post. We can solve it by uninstalling and then re-installing Photshop CC. What seemed to be a problem of 'Bridge' is relly a problem of "Photoshop". If you do only want one version of Photoshop on your system, uninstall the old version before installing Photoshop CC.

I would appreciate your advice on how I might be able to recover the images. THX.

Check if your Windows Photo Gallery has its flaws.

Start > default of programs > Set Your Default programs > left side, click Windows Photo Gallery...
He said "this program has all its defaults"?
I have no f, click on choose by default for this program "> put checkmarks on all entries in the list." > click Save.

    It work?

Also check if the file association for the jpg has opened by photo gallery.

Start > default programs > set a file type or Protocol with a program > under the name on the right, scroll down to .jpg, up until it clicks > look to the right. Does say Windows Photo Gallery? > If not, click on change program > select Windows Photo Gallery > click OK when finished. • Cannot open picture in PSE10, picture corrupted .jpeg?

Yesterday I scanned an image and began working on it in PSE10. After six hours, I am almost done and decided to save the file and quit for the day. Tonight I tried to open the image to finish the but instead I get a saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." Then I tried opening in paint and goes directly to the image, and double clicking but it wull not open anywhere.

Is there a way to solve this? I don't think that my hand can handle all the this cramping. It will let me download the image on any site.

Try opening in camera raw in the menu of the Editor:

    File > open as

Navigate to your file and choose camera raw in the file format drop.

If it appears, click the button open an image (lower-right)

  • I use Windows XP SP3 and cannot open My Documents, my pictures, my music and my computer

Original title: can not open files

I use Windows XP SP3 and cannot open My Documents, my pictures, my music and my computer. I get no errors, but nothing happens when I click on one of them.

    Hello

Thanks for the reply. I managed to solve the problem before you receive your advice to defragment my hard drive. I had the problem on / off power for about six months and defragmentation has not always been successful success so when it happens then I will go through the procedures that you have listed. I have installed and uninstalled various applications in the last six months and suspect that the register is not in optimum condition... I have a problem during a shutdown or reboot stop where I get an error of tfswctrl.exe I close and the system then hangs and requires a medical examination. Is there, by chance, a Microsoft utility that cleans up the registry for applications that have been uninstalled, but be persistent pieces that shouldn't be there?

    Thanks again for your advice.

  • Cannot open a pictures using Windows Photo Gallery

    BAD WINDOWS PHOTO GALLERY!

My Windows Photo Gallery says it cannot open the image because it is used by another program? I'm trying to save some pictures of fotoflexer, he saves but the pic appears blank in the folder when I try to see...

    1. I don'thave open other programs

    2. I can see the other images that are saved on my computer

Can someone help me with this problem? I had no trouble using windows photo gallery it any other time so far...

    Hi MsNesha,

What is the exact message you get?

As the message States, it could be used by fotoflexer. A probability is, after you have changed the images that you would not have saved it in fotoflexer.

Close the fotoflexer application after you save the photos and then try to view the photos edited in Windows Live Photo Gallery.

If the problem persists, you can remove (delete) the photos published of fotoflexer and then make a folder and paste and he discovers via the Windows Photo Gallery.

  • Problems with the Windows on Windows 7 Photo Viewer, cannot open the picture

    Good evening!

I can't open a few photos that I downloaded from my digital camera's SD card.  They are all in the same folder, and they are all JPEG.  Some of them are open very well, but there are MANY who are not open and I get the message: 'Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this photo because Photo Viewer does not support this file format, or you do not have the latest updates for Photo Viewer. "  As I said, they are all JPEG, as well as the Windows Photo Viewer is already set as my default Photo Viewer.   When I opened the window of the picture viewer I have not been invited for updates.

I don't understand why some of my photos to shoot to the top of fine and the rest don't pull up at all.   Where will ensure that I have the latest update?  You have any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Looks like there are probably good copies elsewhere then... I was worried, you might well have lost some of your photos, and it is always better to access the card and copy and paste the files (and then check that they are ok) before using the software download and the removal from the Board. If the files have been corrupted somehow during the transfer process, they can still be recoverable in respect of the SD card using something like the free version of "recuva" providing that the SD card has not been re-used and previous files overwritten by new material. However, if your sister still photos as well which should not be necessary.

I don't think this is likely to be a problem with the photo viewer, but let us know when you received that email... all the best - Ric.

Windows will not open photos says windows cannot find the file (photos have been saved he previously said)

    Thank you

    Hello

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. Form when you try to open pictures? Is it in Photo Viewer?
    2. What type of files you are trying to open?
    3. You are able to open the photos in the Photos App?
    4. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    5. You did changes to the computer before this problem?

I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

Method 1: Run the utility to search and index and check.

    a. press the Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.

    b. click on Troubleshooting.

    c. Select display all on the upper left corner.

    d. perform research and solving problems of indexing.

Method 2: Restart the Windows Search service and check.

    (a) press Windows + R key and type "services.msc" and press ENTER.

    (b) locate the Windows Search service and right-click on it.

    (c) click Properties and check that the start option has been activated.

Method 3: If the problem persists, I suggest you to run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSS) to ensure that the computer is virus-free.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner free is a downloadable security tool that allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
